1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

IMPL dolls Star, Model and Idol Discussion thread 15

Dec 23, 2020

    1. @Isabeau If you're going to mod that torso I think some kind of divot might be enough to get some forward crunch. It's a great body despite the flexibility issues. (Ahh Massi, breaking hearts over his affogato).

    2. Massi is back to smoulder some more

    3. Oh yah, he's a cutie @A Wee Tiefling And wow, I really love his shirt, so well done!

    4. @IngieBee His shirt is an Iplehouse shirt (and the pants are also). His torso is moving great without that channel stopper.

    5. @A Wee Tiefling Yah, it's slightly slippery, but not bad, and does stop at the fully straight position. I still think I'll add a light coat of hot glue though when I get the gumption to do some work again, LOL. Mine has pants coming soon I hope, then I can take better pictures. I also found an old shirt my husband ripped at the collar with a nice small pattern, and I think I'll make a shirt for him out of it :D

    6. @IngieBee I can't wait to have room for a sewing machine. I have lots of funky fresh fabrics to use up. Do you share project journals here?

    7. Just dropping by to say that my order for Impl jointed hands (and Doll Legend ones) have finally arrived after a six-month wait. I've quarantined them because I'm not due to be vaccinated until Q3 this year, but from the initial unboxing, it would seem that the RealSkin I ended up with is the same as Adhara's RealSkin MGB (a beautiful peachy color). It's a boo-hoo for my Idolman FGB because he's on the lighter RS, but nothing wrist warmers won't fix. I'm surprised that the last three samples of RS I have are pretty consistent, honestly.

    8. perhaps they finally ironed out the exact ratio of pigments to use?

    9. Does this mean they're back to the darker colored RS? Maybe I should order Plaice's body again?

      I sure hope so @Girrl :)

    10. @AntarelNefertili I can't wait to see the jointed hands in action, I've been considering who needs them among my crew and consistency of resin colour will really help narrow it down.

      @IngieBee DOOO EEEET

    11. @IngieBee Perhaps ask Impl for a resin sample before making the order just to be sure it's in an acceptable range for your guy's head? I know miracles can be worked through the magic of airbrushing but if you don't need to do that because the match is close enough to start with....

I'm going to be watching my email like a hawk this month as when I emailed Impl last month to get a progress update on my custom green Ziv remake, they said he'd be ready to ship in a month. I really, really hope that is the case. Although I didn't get an email from them when they sent Kulfi. He just showed up at my door, which was unexpected but cool. Has any received emails from Impl telling them their package shipped or is it generally a case of, "Hi! I'm home!"

    12. Yah, @A Wee Tiefling , now I'm low on money, LOL. I bought a grain mill for my husband for our anniversary. He loves gadgets :P I've really gotten into jointed hands lately. Just got my first pair of msd jointed hands. They're fiddly but so cool, and I love being able to have them do different things unlike static hands :)

Agreed @Iron_Dog , and if the resin is darker, it's also much easier. Unfortunately the last one was way lighter, and too hard for me to do.

    13. @Girrl @A Wee Tiefling @IngieBee

I finally managed to wrestle the jointed hands onto my Implbodies. This photo has no filters at all, and was taken under natural light, as close as possible to how I see the colors irl. His hands are darker than the rest of his body, but the color would have been perfect for my MGB. I find it ironic that Impldoll's jointed hands were strung loosely (for a company that strings their body so godawfully tight), but I could do no more than wind the inner elastic several times to tighten it a little -- it's still too fiddly for me to handle atm. Doll Legend is perfect in scale to the Starwoman, but it did cause her to lose a lot of wrist mobility. I'd have to craft some sort of adapter to push the wrist ball outwards. (Implwomen have quite large wrists and ankles!)

    14. They look great, @AntarelNefertili and I love Adhara's profile in the picture, what a cute nose!

    15. @AntarelNefertili The darker resin hands doesn't actually bug me much, I can easily blush to match, and besides hooms have different coloured bodies too so it'd be weird to look all the same all over. For the Starwoman, would hotglue suede inside the inner wrist be enough?

    16. Thanks! Adhara's Iplehouse Scarlet head does have a really nice profile view, probably one of the nicest in my doll crew.

I think I'd probably go the arm warmers/gauntlets route to hide the color diff because I will most likely chip that blushing in no time. (Fiddles with doll fingers regularly.) If I applied glue thickly enough, it might work! The problem is the ball is too short for Impldoll's deep sockets (but perhaps not as badly as the DF-H 1/3 male hands now being used by my LS), so the hand has the tendency to just stay straight on the arm. I would still have to loosen my MGB's arms anyway. Her arms are still at their default TIGHT stringing because my available elastics are too thick. It's a miracle I didn't get bruised when changing up her hands!

    17. I just got my first MSD sized jointed hands, and they're fiddly too, but I just love the idea of how exquisite these joints are, I can't get enough of them, LOL

    18. I like the idea of jointed hands but they drive me nuts for the guys who have them.

Khale (Leeke Khal) wears a pair of DZ armour claws. Both Fei-Lau (DZ Edward) and Mkhai (Impl Miguel the Demon Hunter) have RD mecha arms (only one each, a left for Fei-Lau and a right for Mkhai) and Skeeren (Akhmel Nathan) came with jointed fingers which is freaking amazing considering that he's a mature tiny and strung with jewellery elastic.

Khale's fingers are either curled in or splayed awkwardly. There is no in between, natural pose for him it seems. Fei-Lau is constantly giving everybody the finger. Mkhai's behave for the most part but are fiddly. Skeeren's are the best behaved but I'm almost afraid to move them because they're so incredibly thin and skinny.

    19. @Iron_Dog Lol, I have a couple of dolls who'd benefit from permanent "bird" hand (Looks pointedly at Dante).

@AntarelNefertili I've never restrung arms before but I think I should learn. Is it the same as for the body/torso?

    20. @A Wee Tiefling In full disclosure, I'd love to get my grabby hands on the extra long fingernail hands that Soom did. Not because they're jointed but because I love the impossible long nails on those. I have zero idea who'd wear them (a new character maybe? *makes shifty eyes*) but they're so cool looking.
