I would let them know that after thanking them for their generosity. But I wouldn’t count on them to give you only boy stuff since they could put the information in a place that they could forget to check. But I’d at least try. You could also ask where to put that information so that they would check it before shipping.

 

Doesn’t Impldoll have a history of tossing in another head as their ‘gifts’? Think I saw someone get a bonus head just a week or so ago.

I don’t think it would too be weird to let them know you don’t collect girls as long as you are also properly appreciative of the gesture. Personally I think after this long they do owe you a little something.

 

Thanks guys. That does help me feel a little less... picky/demanding seeming. It has taken time to get this sorted but to be fair, I let them know about the error and literally a few weeks later the whole world went into lockdown due to Covid. I've also reminded them twice about my address change (it was to be delivered to where I work but that business is no longer there due to Covid).

 

I don't know, but I feel for you @Iron_Dog . When it took them over a year to send my body (and it was wrong color) they offerec me a gift and I asked them to NOT send a head, LOL. This is because I can't deal with any more floating heads and they did. And I have this head, that I need to sell or something ... ugh, LOL I think I would say something actually, just like, if you're planning on sending a head (which is 99% likely) please send a boy or "so n so's" head

 

I don't typically do floating heads because the bug me. But I have bought 3 heads deliberately in my time in this hobby. All 3 were very limited and were of the snooze you loose variety (Angel Toast Crow, BiDoll CS and MD Aseal). 2 of them have bodies and I need to get off my duff and send the colour sample to RS so they can do the body for the BiDoll CS head. I suppose it could be said that I have 2 other floating heads (Dollshe Hound OE & SA heads) that came with the Hound I purchased 2nd hand (Akusuo is the IM head) but it'll be challenging getting them bodies as they're honey mango oriental.

Oh god, suggesting a head I like would be... my wallet would hate me forever for that. I love the Anders head because he's so very unusual (and of course sold out). Plaice is freaking gorgeous. Mzzen is deliciously broody to me. I like Devin and could see him as a grown version of Kyrieleison (Teno) if he had fawn legs. I actually do want to ask them about a possible frankendolly mashup where the front legs of the deertaur body are used instead of the human legs of the Devin body but I have other resin priorities right now.

@IngieBee Sorry? I feel you on the money thing. I have some saved and it should be enough for the body for Qayin. But there's also this other gorgeous hunk of resin (more snooze/lose resin *sigh*) I'd love to acquire. I told myself I wouldn't buy more dolls this year and I've already broken that twice. Both dolls were... you guessed it; snooze/lose variety (Lume Doll Zero & Vita Magica OOAK Lusin). I'm holding steady so far on not purchasing but if he's still available by the time my b'day rolls around in September....

 

Well, to expand d my body types, i did order a DF-h body for one of my floating heads. But I need to make an impldoll body order with a special color, so I need to save up to do them all at once (they only charge a 1x color fee no matter how many bodies as long as it's the same color, and yes I'm that cheap, LOL )

 

That's cool (and good to know) that they don't charge you individual colour fees as long as they're all the same colour. Should I loose my mind (which is actually probable) and decide to get bodies for the 2 Hound heads in honey resin, Impl is one of the companies that I'm considering. Kulfi's resin has the same sort of... luminous quality that the honey resin has. They have changed the colour blending company they use very recently (this is part of the delay in getting my boy cast again as they searched for a new company) so I'm not sure if the new stuff will be the same and can only wait and see when he arrives and go from there. Hopefully it retains the same quality to match decently to honey resin.

 

I thought the luminosity of Impl came from the type of resin as well as the colour? All my impls have that lovely glow to them. Impls two new boys are destroying me...though I have a feeling Paddy's teeth are not going to be easy to faceup.

 

Oh wow, if I had the money, I would drop it on Paddy and Wyatt right now! They are so cute!

So when did they change resin companies? Is my light colored "real skin" the new company or old?

 

I'm unsure if it's resin companies or if the company that provides the colour blending service only does that and not the actual resin itself. When I asked most recently (July 7th) for a progress update on my custom green Ziv this was their reply:

Dear customer

We are very sorry to have kept you waiting for so long, because our color mixing material supplier can't continue to serve us for special reasons, so we have to find a new stable material supplier. It took a long time. Now we have started color mixing order. I can only tell you that we will complete the order as soon as possible, But I can't give you the exact time. Thank you again for your patience. Sorry again, we will send you a gift in the order.

Maybe it means their resin supplier? I don't have any idea how the colour mixing works. Is it a powder/liquid in the desired colour that they then add to the resin in their factory? Is it the fully coloured resin that is then delivered to their factory? I don't even know if they cast their own pieces or contract out that work to a casting place. I'm a whole lot of unhelpful on this.

 

So I've been lurking this thread for a while, but I've got to ask-- am I understanding you guys right that Impl's resin is kind of translucent, like the Dollshe Honey skin, when it is a custom color? I've been waiting on a custom color body to match a tan Angelsdoll head. I just heard from BJDivas that it's being packed up for shipping from Impl finally, so I've been really excited...I've been waiting to put this girl together for ages and she's a favorite character of mine. But the Angelsdoll head is very matte, with no translucency to it at all, so I hope there isn't a huge textural difference that will throw the match off. I wasn't expecting any kind of translucency to the resin-- I have a 2015 Azalea and a 2019 Star body, and both of them are a regular solid matte type resin. But neither were custom color, and I know Impl changes their colors a lot...?

 

I have a WS Teno from 2019/20 (he was a gift/event doll when I initially purchased my custom green Ziv) as well as a grey Miguel the Demon Hunter from waaaay back. The WS doll (Kyrieleison) doesn't have any translucency to his resin that I can see. He is completely matte. The grey doll is also matte but he is a much older guy from 2010 I believe.

There is no textural difference between the 2 newest dolls I have (green Ziv & WS Teno). The feel of the resin is the same and very silky smooth. The glow, if you will, of Kulfi (the green Ziv) is similar to the Dollshe honey mango oriental guy I have as well as, but not as strong, as the BBD Valentine and Jie Doll Ashford I also own. The BBD and Jie Doll are both environmental resin (to the best of my knowledge) and have a much more apparent luminosity than the Dollshe honey mango oriental. This could be because the BBD is "peach" and the Jie Doll "normal" and the glow shows up more in the lighter tones but I'm purely guessing here. Honey mango oriental is a butterscotch tan and Kulfi is the colour of pistachio ice cream (and has that creamy look to his resin). I am the first owner of the BBD, Jie Doll, and WS/green Impl dolls. The Dollshe and Miguel were both purchased 2nd hand.

 

@Iron_Dog thanks for the reply! After looking at that and thinking about it, I am going to guess it's nothing major that I need to worry about as far as making the doll look mismatched--- the Impldoll Star body I have doesn't seem any more translucent than any other regular doll I have, and her head is an Islanddoll Noah which is environmental resin if I recall correctly. That hybrid looks just fine. And my color matched body is tan, so even if it looks more like environmental resin it shouldn't be too drastic of a difference.
It's funny that I have more Impldolls in my collection than any other one company at this point, but not a single one of them is a whole Impldoll-- there's the Islanddoll Noah/Impl hybrid, the Angelsdoll Yul/Impl hybrid I'm waiting for, and then my Impl Azalea is on an old 60cm Doll Family A body.

 

@thedarkeststar13 The luminosity seems to be specific to their tans and special colours that I can tell/guess. I have an old Impl head that is matte and opaque (Delia) especially compared to the body she is on (Spiritdoll). It's less a visible property of the resin and more a light property of the resin...as in when the light hits my Real Skin normal boys it hits differently (and passes through somewhat) than more matte/less luminous resins. It's not immediately obvious to the naked eye and it doesn't show up as a colour change or textural difference.

 

Thank you! That's reassuring. I really want this hybrid to work out well, because I've been waiting for this body since September of last year, and the size and shape are perfect for the character (I got the Model Girl body).

Matching resin, even within a company (I'm staring hard at you, Soom), can be difficult at the best of times. Getting bodies for the 2 honey mango oriental heads I have could be easier if they didn't have face-ups but they came to me with beautiful face-ups by Barbello and Herrzog and I'm loathe to have them wiped.

 

That is my one advantage-- my Angelsdoll head is still blank. I'm not having her painted until I have the body; that way if the match is a little off in color the faceup artist can fix it as part of the faceup. This is the first time I've ever ordered a custom color body from any company-- normally I'd just buy something close enough and use dye or blushing to match the parts. But I really liked both the color of the Angelsdoll tan and the shape/size of the Impl Model body, so...here we are.

 

I get that totally. When I order the RS body for Qayin it'll be a custom colour but I'm still waiting until I have the body in hand before I send out his head to be painted just in case there needs to be a little extra matching going on.
