Okay so I fell out of this thread again.

With regards to resin matching, I can confirm that Impldoll will take custom color requests just from swatches. I've just ordered an MGB in this color. However, one has to manage their expectations when giving online references, because who knows from what monitor they're basing the color from. I'll post once I receive the body and compare it with the miscast-color SartoriaJ head it's meant for.

All my Implbodies (one from 2017 and the other from 2019) have a certain degree of translucency to them. The oldest body I ever owned, my now-rehomed Azalea from 2016, has translucency as well (her new owner often remarks that her color catches the light really well). I hybrid opaque-resin heads on my Impls, and while the difference could be obvious under certain lights, it's not so bad in real life. I looked through some of my photos to see if there's a good example, but this is probably the best I could give for now. The Iplehouse Scarlet head has been blushed like crazy to match the MGB RealSkin.

@AntarelNefertili thanks for the additional point of view on the resin-matching/ hybriding! Your Impl hybrid dolls all look great-- gives me even more confidence that mine will turn out fine.

I also originally tried using a Behr paint color-- only I sent them the actual paint color sample card from the hardware store. Sadly, it got lost in the mail on its way to China...which ended up delaying my order by a lot. By the time we figured out that they'd never recieved my sample, I decided to just take my chances with a digital swatch. I picked the color on the Pantone website that matched my head according to my phone screen and figured the faceup would have to make up the difference if the color wasn't the same on Impl's screen. I just didn't have the heart to try physical mail again, since I didn't have a trackable option within any kind of remotely reasonable price range. I guess I'll find out soonish how it turned out...she should be on her way now.

@Virgile Lovely lady! I really like her colors, and awesome work with those hands. If I were to get another Impl female, it would be Delia. (And that might have been the case, if not for another sculpt getting my attention for the character!)

 

I do not know why, but I've never heard of this awesome-looking company til today! The dolls are shockingly reasonably priced, and some of the sculpts are very pretty. I'm slightly tempted by Candice and Dabria, but Garza is incredibly tempting to me. I need to look at more owner photos to be sure I like him, but if I do, I think he'll be my first SD doll- a size I never thought I'd go for (but there are too many pretty ones to stay away -_-). it's rare that I like an SD doll, and even more rare I like a male doll, so I'm shocked I like him so much-- but he's deeply interesting to me and may make a good shell for a character I had initially planned to shell as a Rugged Realism Geneo (who will not be produced). I wish I could just get the head as the body is eh for me, but over all I'm super interested. I definitely think he'd look good in mid-dark resin, and I have a barbie in the exact tone I'm thinking of for him, so knowing impldoll does color matching, I am even more tempted to buy him with the knowledge I'd probably get the exact color I want.

@mohnblumendolls Do eeet! Impl male sculpts are super interesting to me as well and I'd love to see their newer ones (Garza is so handsome)

 

@mohnblumendolls , Garza has been on my list but I have to finish getting bodies for a lot of heads first before I can get Garza and Pei Ying. But OH MY GOSH, I just saw they have more hunky boys up! Anyways, I'd love to see Garza with a better wig, so if you do get him, please post I haven't seen owner pictures yet of Garza but I can say Impldoll's photos are generally not as nice as what arrived, at least with the dolls I've gotten. They are beautiful

 

I was searching for a body with large shoulders to hybrid a Switch Huisa head (that's a male head so it's on the bigger side, 8.5 inches) and I saw the MGB body: does someone know how large are the shoulder for real? Cause the measurements between various delaer descriptions/impldoll website don't match. And if someone for chance could try the hybrid with a Switch head of similar size, I would be even happier, but I know that's more difficult.

If someone could show me a comparison between Impl normal pink and other pink skins I would be super thankful

 

The MGB's shoulders are indeed 15cm (add bulky sleeves and you'll hit 16cm territory easily). I'd be more concerned for the neck because its circumference is a lot smaller than the standard Star or Idol women.

On a more general note, does anyone want some Idolman body spam?

Thank you! I was concerned about the neck too, that's why I'm not sure yet. The shoulders would be perfect tho... I'm struggling so much finding a body with large shoulders but more on the slender side, and with nice mobility.

Okay, that's really good to know! I haven't seen a single owner photo of him unfortunately, and his company pics give me very mixed feelings-- the lighting, angles and styling are terrible and make it hard to see the sculpt-- but what I can see of him, I like. I'll definitely post if I get him! I need to email impldoll to ask about possibly getting him head-only (and depending on the cost for just a head, I'll maybe get Candice's head too), and I might ask for pictures of his blank sculpt if they have them, so if I get pics directly from the company, I'll post them too

I'm really excited. My beloved Chase may finally come to life! Now I just need to find a good sculpt for his sister...

 

@mohnblumendolls , go to their facebook and look under videos and scroll through, they have one on Garza but he isn't named because he didn't have one yet when the video came out.

Wait, I didn't realize he had teeth! I also didn't realize they made new male hands!

 

I don't think that video is of Garza because of said teeth, but does look similar to him and it's another cool sculpt! I think it's either never been released or it's long sold out though, because I don't recognize it from my website stalking. I did find pictures of the master sculpt of Garza a bit below the video you're thinking of though and yeah, he's got an awesome sculpt. And I was correct, the studio photos do him no favors lol. Poor guy.

EDIT: I looked on their instagram and checked comments. looks like this guy has never been released . There are, however 2 years between those process photos of Garza and his release, so I'm hoping this video guy will be released soon. Gonna contact Impldoll and depending on what they say, may wait on Garza if there's a chance of getting this head instead. I really like slightly open mouths lol.

 

It's confusing, he does look a bit like Garza?? Anyways, I would have to resculpt his nose, and hope there is plenty of resin there because the character I want to recreate is 1/2 Japanese and 1/2 African American. I want the nose a bit smaller and more shapely. Otherwise, I love his slim face, it works for my character I want to recreate

 

Yeah, I thought it was him too, but his nose and mouth are different. I prefer the sculpt in the video tbh, it has a nicer nose imo. The character I'm creating, is funnily enough, half Black and half Filipino. I think Garza looks like a decent mix of those two ethnicities. Kinda funny we're going in similar directions with the sculpt! I, too, plan to mod his nose to be smaller and rounder.

 

That is funny! I hope that means we're both on the right track
