IMPL dolls Star, Model and Idol Discussion thread 15

Dec 23, 2020

    1. I was always told the star body of the muscle female body used the old star body arms and legs such that they weren’t muscular (unlike the idol version of the body which had the unique muscular arms and legs). It seems the new star version has muscular arms and legs

    2. I have the Idol version of the muscular body, and she absolutely does not have muscular legs. My (non-doll-people) friends who were with me when I unboxed the body made multiple jokes about her skipping leg day, every day :sigh I had to rethink all my outfit plans for her, which was mainly tight short skirts to show off her quads...

    3. Maybe there's no aesthetic difference and they just re-did the joints or something? To improve posing? Bc I cannot see the slightest difference between the two bodies (other than the breasts of course). My only other guess is that now the idol version's legs are also muscular, not just the star version anymore.

    4. there’s been a muscular leg/arm version of the Impldoll idol since 2017, which is why I thought they’d made the change for the Star. I think the bust is the small bust they’ve had for a while

    5. I never saw any pics of them but yeah it can't be that. Still wondering about what changed :nowords:

    6. Does anyone know the diameter of the boys' wrist ball?

I'm also looking for a comparison of Impldoll tan and df-a or df-h imported tan.

    7. it's the older one? I ordered in April.
I'll take a look at the Doll legend ones! Thank you

    8. Resin question - if I wanted to get the new body for my IH Carina head I have lying around, would I have to send in a resin sample or could I just ask for "Iplehouse light brown"? I don't mind the resin match not being perfect; I would rather not mail a headcap overseas or try to guess which IMPL tan will match best.

    9. For a closest possible match I'd suggest going to your local paint store with the head cap and matching that as close as possible to the sample and send that. Write your name and what body it's for on the back of the sample, too. The samples are free so take 2 or 3 of the same just in case the mail eats the sample match so you can re-send in a worst case scenario.

    10. does anyone know how well impl white (normal or uv, either is fine :)) matches fairyland white? i've got an ID memorial head that i think would be fun on the muscle girl body :>

    11. my guess would be that it's a poor match - FL uses a much more opaque resin whereas Impl uses environmental resin. Even if the match starts off halfway decent, it won't probably photograph very well and they'll certainly age quite differently

    12. @mangameow Impl white is kind of an oddity to me. I have a body that's a early 2020 and she's still the paper white she came in. Then I have an older head that isn't quite as yellow as his 2014 body which is an ivory color now. It's a creamy type.

I do have a 2017 feeple head in beauty white. I can take pictures comparing colors tomorrow when there's daylight, if you like.

    13. that's true. i have a imyoung eileen in their new uv real from 2017 and it's got a sort of translucent quality to it that i find very pretty tbh. she started off neon orange though LOL! but she quickly mellowed into a lovely caramel.
i wonder if they'd be able to resin match it to a more accurate degree.

interesting. maybe they've been reworking their formula over the years? i know they had a "new" type of resin at some point but they might just call that their standard rather than "new" at this point.

i'd love to see any pics you can get, though i suspect the match won't be great LOL

    14. I've been looking at Impl's updates, and it's heartening to see that they seem to finally be getting back in gear. They even have new female hands. I still can't quite see what was changed in the muscle body tho, whoopsies. :sweat

By the way, the custom-color MGB I ordered THREE MONTHS AGO had apparently appeared in Alice Collections' office. That's fast! Buuuuut it seems the color ended up waaaaaay too light. Like, I wanted tan, but ended up with something not even remotely like tan (to the point that ACBJD took it upon themselves to ask Impl why it was so light). There's def something off about where Impl is getting their web colors -- a caveat to those who are going this route! At this point, I just want that body home for my hybrid, so I'll pay off my last layaway and give them the signal to have it shipped. I'll post a pic once I have it home, and see for myself just how big the expectations vs reality comparison is.

    15. oooh, I want some new hands!!!

@AntarelNefertili so sorry to hear that. I really liked their darker real skin but now it's as light as their normal skin, it's such a bummer :(

    16. Oh just to add -- from the picture ACBJD sent me, Impldoll seems to have shortened the shoulder joints for the MGB. I still have to see for myself, but it now looks closer to their fashion body. I will def do a comparison of Adhara's wide-shoulder MGB with her daughter's newer one!

    17. Based on my experience with doing the colour via internet I'd say sending a physical sample is the best way to go to get the colour you're after (or something reasonably close to it). I'm not doing a hybrid so it isn't as big a deal to me but Kulfi was way off in shade (far too light) from what I asked for. I'm still waiting for Malachite to be re-made and sent to me *sigh*.

    18. Yeah, if you're going to go the web colors route, you may want to go darker in your sample because whatever monitor Impl is using, it seems to be calibrated to make things wash out. :(

On the happier side of things, today is Adhara's designated birthday, so here's a photo of her and her two sweethearts.
