1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

IMPL dolls Star, Model and Idol Discussion thread 15

Dec 23, 2020

    1. @IngieBee Yeah, it's a bit frustrating. There are some extenuating circumstances involved but at the same time it has now been 20 months since I notified them of the colour error and they said they'd re-make him. I'm writing off 12 months (2020) as that year was a poop show for literally the world. I'd likely be more upset if I hadn't received anything in all that time and if there wasn't any communication with Impl. But I got Kulfi (and then Rhyia and Akusuo *sigh*) and any time I contact Impl for a progress update they respond promptly and, I believe, truthfully about issues that are causing the delay. I won't be patient forever but my last communication 2 weeks ago they said he was being produced now.

I did ask them about using the deer-taur front legs instead of the human legs for a Young body and they said it wouldn't work as the bayonet is different. I'm not sure what they mean by bayonet in relation to a doll (maybe the hip ball/socket?) BUT I'm mentioning this here because they said they may make animal legs/feet for their human bodies in the future and that's an exciting option. I know they do some tinies with hooved feet (I have a Teno) but to have that option in one of the larger bodies would be awesome as I think the only regularly available hooved body is by RS and their guys tend toward slender/skinny so if you need a beefier boy you're SOL unless you can snag a Soom body 2nd hand.

    2. I have a deet-taur hybrid (I have 2 deer-taur bodies in fact) and I think I know what they mean by "bayonet," although that's a very strange word choice and "balance" would make a lot more sense. You might be able to get the doll to stand with thick enough elastic and patience, but that's about it - the deer-taur legs were designed to be stable as a quadruped, not a biped, and are smaller in the hip ball, overall slimmer than their human legs, and have less stable joints. I remember playing around with mixing and matching human and deer parts when I first got my Trista years ago (I thought it would be funny to send my not-into-dolls MIL a picture of the deer-taur body with human front legs, because I am a terrible person) and it didn't really work. PM me if you're really interested and I'll see if the Hus will assist with trying a leg swap (damn elbow surgery)
I'd LOVE a big hooved boy/girl from Impl. I'd love it even more if they made an Idol sized centaur. SoulDoll's Chiron has been my forever and probably never going to happen grail, so I am always Very Interested in other SD+ sized centaurs.

    3. ooooh thank you so much for the pic! :D
looks like iโ€™m in a similar situation to when i had to find a very old DC body to match another mellowed f60 LOL. i wonder how many times this can happen to me:sweat
at least impl does resin matching so itโ€™ll hopefully be much easier this time lol

theyโ€™re having problems with web colours tho? thatโ€™s a bummer :( does that mean iโ€™ll have to ship off a head cap, or can they use pantone samples?

    4. @Girrl Ahhhh, ok. Your explanation makes more sense. It's not necessary to trouble yourself with leg swapping since you've already tried it once and know it doesn't work but thank you for offering to do it.

Perhaps if we start asking for hooved boys/girls they'll consider doing it sooner? They did say they frequent DoA so seeing there is genuine interest from more than just me....

One of my friends has 2 SD Chirons (WS and grey) and they are big and heavy AF. She doesn't bring them out often because their size and weight makes transporting them difficult. She usually puts one in a wagon to be able to bring him anywhere.

@mangameow I'd highly recommend matching your head to a physical paint sample and send Impl that paint sample to resin match to. If the paint sample gets lost in the mail all that causes is a delay in getting the body. The samples are typically free, too, and you can even send it via airmail for a lot less than sending a head cap (also without the stress of possible lost resin in the mail). I'd further suggest getting 2 or 3 samples of the right paint swatch just in case you need to re-send it and writing your name and the body type you want on the back of the sample. Or staple it to a regular sized piece of paper (8.5"x11") with all your info so the sample itself and who it's for is hard to misplace once Impl gets it.

    5. I do like the impl model body. When my girls are dressed, I can't tell which ones have which body! Also, if you order special co.or, it's good to know it's one fee for as many bodies as you order. At least it was pretty pandemic :)

    6. Can anyone tell me the head in the promo pics for the redone muscular body?

    8. Anyone else not thrilled that they've shrunk their big girls by 2cm? most of my existing SD girls are 65cm (or taller) and I buy girl dolls under 65cm for "short" characters. I don't have many of those to begin with, and most of them have been shelled already, but I do still need bodies for a few floating heads and have a couple ladies waiting in the wings for space (mostly) and extra funds. Guess I'm scratching Impl off the list for possible bodies...

    9. @grrl Perhaps you could ask for the "old" version of the girl body assuming you planned to purchase in the near future? They may still have the moulds for one. Doesn't hurt to ask and the worst they'd say is they can't.

    10. @Girrl I ain't too pleased either. :( I'm not even sure if my incoming MGB (which already has its own share of surprise changes that they didn't mention until I pointed it out to ACBJD) is still of the height they originally listed it as. Thankfully, if it is indeed shorter, it's not too much of a setback for me. Still, it would be awesome if the original height options would remain available.

    11. near future funds are a bit tied up with bringing this cutie home next Wednesday (only an 8-hour drive down the state - each way - to pick her up...)

    12. @Girrl She adorable! Grats on the new hoppy addition to your family.

I feel your pain on future dolly funds. I recently had the opportunity to purchase a doll that I'd missed the limited sales period for. It was an out-of-the-blue thing and NOT what I'd intended to purchase as my b'day doll. Doing so wiped out my dolly funds but I'm thrilled with the purchase. Not even 2 weeks later a friend purchased the majority of a collection from the estate of a friend of hers that passed away and among the dolls was one I'd tried to purchase last year but was unable to (seller never returned to DoA). Fortunately we'll do a straight up head trade between us but the body he's on (not the original he was sold with but it looks great) will require some cash from me that I'll need to scrounge up. She also got some outfits that I'm eyeballing pretty hard core so more money *sigh*.

The dolls, they kill my wallet deader than a doornail every darn time.

    13. This is just a quick post, but my MGB order has arrived. Color issue aside, I have already seen a possible engineering drawback with the shoulder joint change. I will be posting a more detailed review/comparison later, but tldr: Impldoll has indeed shortened the shoulder joints of the MGB, but the upper torso joint was not changed to accommodate the shorter shoulders. The ball of the shoulders were such a snug fit inside the torso that it's vulnerable to scratching when you try to move it up and down. I have already SOS-ed a nearby faceup artist/modder to see if the engineering can be improved before more scratching ensues.

      --- EDIT SO I WON'T DOUBLE-POST ---

Like I already mentioned, Impl has shortened the shoulder joints, which would have been fine if they also adjusted the upper torso. In the original version (which Adhara is using), the ball of the shoulders do not go inside the torso, hence the threat of scratching is almost zero. On the other hand, the shortened shoulder variant causes the pointy torso "socket" to overly rub on the arm ball. In fact, I already gave the poor body some minor scratches, testing how the issue could be rectified.

At the moment, the best course of action would be to round off the upper torso where the shoulder joints are. In the meantime, I'm unstringing the godawfully tightly-strung body to prevent the issue from getting any worse. Over-all, this is probably the most disappointing doll purchase I've made this year. The color of the body was supposed to be a tan darker than Adhara's old RealSkin, and the photos show that I ended up with something even paler than her. Unwilling to wait more months and potentially have a package ship at the height of the holiday season, I just decided to have the head airbrushed into a paler hue to match the body. The engineering issue only increased my disappointment.

If you're ordering the MGB, prepare yourself to do some modding, or have someone do it for you, unless you want to risk a lot of scratching on the upper arm ball when moving the shoulder joints. On the other hand, I was already planning to implement the shoulder-shortening mod on Adhara, so I guess my plans simply got fast-tracked in lieu of the new MGB needing an immediate fix.

    14. I am not as upset as some at the shrinking of the girl bodies. My Sicily is intended for a short character, although she may very well be on the older body. Thanks,AntarelNefertili, for the helpful shoulder pics. Don't know if she'll have that yet either, but good to be prepared.

Should be making my last payment in October/November. Ask Divas if they were there yet and they said looks like another month. Beginning to get really excited!

    15. With all the reshelling boo-hoos (and a stupid slip by me on a preexisting head) plaguing the doll crew lately, I took a simple Adhara photo to make me feel better. At the very least, the Starwoman MGB didn't appear to have been shortened at all. Depending on the head and heels, it may even reach 66-67cm. On the other hand, I've gotten so fond of Adhara's wide shoulders that I don't think I'm getting her body modded to match the newer short-shoulder MGB. I say it's her personal quirk that sets her apart from the other females in the family!

    17. Can I show off my Aries here? I just finished his faceup today, gave him some eyes and he is a happy dude. I need to work on his body so I hope to have him together soon.

    19. Oh gosh, I don't think i like the new MGB shoulders! Are they permanently shrugged like the mini version? I sure hope not :horror: actually, maybe cutting those corners would help?? Adhara is such a strong beauty!

Wow @SteamWitch , you did an amazing job, he looks seriously like a living being!
