Ooof, this head sale is tempting. I really don't need any more random heads. But the last few sculpts Impldoll has turned out have been really quite nice, and I so appeciate this company remaining so affordable when BJDs on the whole seem to be getting more expensive...

 

I succumbed and got a Davina head in pink. Figure if I don't like Sicily for some reason, I can put her on that body, otherwise I might order her a body of her own.

 

This head sale is so tempting but fortunately for me I am broke and so cannot succumb. Though I'm still wrasslin with Kitten's posing. Anyone here with a muscle body have ideas on how to get her to sit up?

 

I'm safe from the head-sale as I do not need another floating head right now.

If the muscle body is anything like the SGB star body, there should be notches on the back of the legs that act as butt locks. Basically when the body is sitting, just push the legs as far back as possible so that the notches push out and lock into the butt.

Yeah her butt tabs seem to be worn a bit down so they don't catch (especially as she is wearing tights so the fabric catches in the joints). She's secondhand so a few of her joint locks show wear and don't really hold well (her knees!!!). I may have to hot glue her or get joint pads if those are the only way to keep her thighs and hips in place when seated. It's also noticeable on Dante's old Model body. He don't have the butt ridges as pronounced as my brand new Idol body.

 

*w* I've been reading through as the sale is here and I'm super interested in an impldoll but I'm so confused! Does anyone have a comparison between their brown skin and real skin? Both look quite tanned from the swatches they show but now I'm worried about shelling a dark skinned OC with the brown skin if it isn't all that dark

 

Impl does do custom colours and colour matching for a reasonable fee. I have 2 custom green Ziv's and I believe the fee was $60. You can send them a sample or link them to a colour example online but remember that the way a colour looks online to you and the way it looks to them may be different (which is why I have 2 green Ziv's).

On the subject of my 2nd custom green Ziv (Malachite), he's still stuck in Beijing at what I presume is the airport. Tracking says "delivered to carrier transport" and hasn't updated in over a month now (last update was October 24th). He was shipped on October 5th. In contrast, I bought a head from someone in Russia on November 10th and a body from someone in the Philippines the same day (they'll go together) and the head is already in Poland (last stop before flying to Canada) and the body left the Philippines on the 17th. All items are coming via EMS. It's still really wild and woolly out there regards overseas shipping.

I was feeling the need to buy myself a Christmas present and congratulate myself for absolutely destroying Nanowrimo this year. I sent in an order for Davina and Bianca heads. I'm never this impulsive! How decadent! Maybe in the future, when the MGB body has decided on a final joint configuration, I will buy one for them to share. I really adore the idea of the shoulder and neck articulation.

 

Davina is a great sculpt and I love how they posed her on the muscle body, makes me think she'd look good on the MGB too. She's one of those unconventional beauty types that will look great no matter what faceup.

@lucienus You could definitely get a custom colour but if you're worried I'd say go darker just because. Go with their darker tans if you want. I have a current real skin man and he's definitely not brown. If you're shelling someone who is not Caucasian and/or you want to represent a person of colour just go for the right sculpt and opt darker. But then blushing works wonders too! I have an OT head in Spiritdoll's "normal" blushed to match the body, which is tan, and that looks fantastic.

 

Congrats on Nanowrimo! Don't you have a little one at home? That's like doing Nanowrimo on hard mode!
My mom does it Every Year, and I honestly don't know how she exceeds the required word count, while working full time and not being a hermit (I called day after Thanksgiving and she couldn't talk because she was bird watching??? And she hosts big elaborate family brunches every Sunday)
I'm glad you decided to be impulsive and get Davina and Bianca heads! What resin color did you pick? Did you also get them faceupped?

Nice to see it recognized. I have a two-year-old and a seven-month-old. I make some sacrifices. I write for a few hours before anyone wakes and again during afternoon naps. On a good day this is 5 hours with my keyboard. If I want to watch a show to decompress I do it while doing chores, otherwise recreation is music practice or horseback riding with a friend once a week-ish. It's been an intense month, but I hit 50k on the 18th so I'm doing something right! Should hit 80k before the month is out. I'm keeping it up as long as it's sustainable--and it's only sustainable because I really want to get a few books out there at last. It helps that my family is long distance and I have little else in terms of a social life, lol.

I asked for both heads in pink with no faceups. They have yet to invoice me, though. I think Davina would be lovely as an angel character of mine and Bianca... well... I just liked her expression. Eventually I need to scale back a bit to fit in some crafting and doll time. Knowing me, it will wait until I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown from too many projects piling up.

 

@Havra I'm kind of surprised you haven't been invoiced yet. I ordered my head on Thursday, I think, and was invoiced and paid the next day. Maybe they just got flooded with orders.

 

@Isabeau I thought it was strange too. I don't like things in limbo. I've sent another email to check up on it, but I assume they just received a big influx they have yet to work through.

 

@Havra - that's super strange. I sent an email order for 1 head (Sicily in Brown Skin), received an email that my order had been received and would be invoiced shortly, received and paid the invoice, sent a response that payment had been sent, and received a response confirming that payment had been received, all on 11/27. Maybe the 2 heads threw whoever was processing email orders and they set it aside to ask their boss about it?

 

@Havra @Girrl-Maybe the two heads was the issue. I don't recollect seeing a limit for the offer, but perhaps they meant it one per customer, and the translating left that part out. I hope not and whatever the reason, Havra, I hope you get billed soon!

 

I don't think there's a limit, I got an acorn and filraen head, and got an email promptly to do the invoice/paypal thing. Perhaps email them again just to be sure?

Does anyone have good pictures of the Real Skin color? I don't want to put Filraen on a 75cm body, I'd prefer to find a different body I want for his character in 70 or under, as dolls larger than that tend to be too much for my weaksauce disabled self to handle.

 

An update on Giffe (Aries) his chest tattoos are done and I made him some pants, the belt is holographic pleather and looks good IRL. I keep thinking he needs a shirt but he doesn't need it. I'm thinking up tattoos for his back so he will be decorated. I remember @Girrl stating "who needs clothes", I think pants are enough for him.

 

@SteamWitch - clothes are totally overrated!

 

The incoming AS Qingyi body I'm getting would be best viewed without clothes for the most part. It has wing tips over the pectorals and full wings on the back that are part of the sculpt itself. There's also some more cool feather details on the calves and bird-like feet. I think he'll be wearing just a short skirt-like thing.

Still waiting on Malachite *sigh*. Not Impl's fault on this part of his journey to me. Overseas shipping is still pretty messed up for some countries. He's been languishing at the Beijing airport since October 24th. The above mentioned body? Purchased on November 10th from someone in the Philippines and it's to be delivered December 2nd. I purchased the head for the body the same day (Nov. 10th) from someone in Russia and it's supposed to be delivered December 1st. I'm really starting to wonder now if I will see Malachite before the end of 2021 because of the shipping delays.

 

@Isabeau @Girrl @Rosslyn There hasn't been a single-head limit on these orders in the past that I know of. My mind invents other scenarios, such as there being a problem with one of the new molds and they aren't sure if they can cast what I've asked for...?

My follow-up email returned nothing--I even sent myself an email to ensure my outgoing messages are working properly. Still no invoice. This morning I sent another email reiterating the order and all my information. I feel bad bothering them, but the fact you all were invoiced promptly has me worried I have slipped through the cracks.

@SteamWitch He looks fantastic. I agree, if you put that much effort into tattoos and body blushing clothes are definitely overrated. Around here it's a constant flop between dressing them for character realism and just wanting to admire the lovely bodies standing around like a bunch of Greek statues.
