Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. in an emergency evacuation would you take your dolls?

May 5, 2016

    1. This is an interesting question! I think it would just depend on the emergency. If it's an evacuation (danger is still a ways off), then hells yes I'm taking my dolls. If there's like a fire or a hurricane I'll probably think about other (I hate to say this) more important things first (like my dogs, my family, etc.).

    2. If I had time to pack them, ie. throw them in a big enough bag, then yes. If I had time to only grab a handful of things, like a backpack and anything I can carry in my arms, then probably only one would come along (they're both 70cm - or will be when the body I'm waiting on comes in). If I had time only to get myself out and could take absolutely nothing with me, as in a fire, then it would be difficult but I would have to leave them.

    3. Someone else mentioned this - these dolls are worth $$$ If one is facing losing everything, then a means to get cash is important. So it's NOT all sentiment and unnecessary items here.
For me, I've got all the essentials lined up on the way out my door - my handbag ie suitcase LOL w/phone etc, my removeable harddrive & 10 of my most valuable/irreplaceable dolls all together. I've scanned family photos etc into the computer so although there's a lot of stuff in my house I'd be fine w/having those things saved (and my CATS....) I have insurance & could replace stuff.

    4. Wow, really hard question. If I could I would take my most important things, but they're so big it's impossible! My first priority would be my cat, and then some small but important objects (doll included). I hope I'll never have to make this decision...I really love everything I have in my house (I chose everything with so much care and love in this house hahah)

    5. We don't have a lot of natural disasters in my area, the only thing I can think we'd ever evacuate for would be flooding. If I had time to pack my car, all the dolls would come, but if I had to make a hasty exit, I'd just grab their heads. The dolls are on a relatively high shelf, so I would just have to hope the water didn't reach them, but water doesn't dissolve resin anyway, so as long as the bodies didn't float off, I'd be alright.

We do have tornadoes here, and this is something I've thought about before. In the past, when there was a long-running tornado watch, I've packed up the irreplaceable ones and stashed them in the basement stairwell just in case. It's been a while since this happened, and I have a LOT more dolls now, so I'd probably do as above and pack the heads and place them near the basement.

If we had an immediate threat, I'd probably just grab the one who's worth the most money (I already know which one this is) because he'd be nearly impossible to replace, and if I absolutely had to, I could sell him pretty quickly. I don't have a lot of other items worth protecting, so other than my laptop, I could make him a priority.

    6. I think my two cats would be my priority. As much as I love all of my dolls, I think the severity of the situation would outweigh any 'objects'. I have over 260 various kinds of doll in my collection now so there is no way I could take all or even choose which ones to save.

    7. I actually just started thinking about this, what with hurricane Irma being projected to possibly hit Florida.
Wondering if we'd get flooded like Houston.

I'm probably going to be packing my dolls up just in case, i can fit them all in 2 bags.

I also have to take care of my baby, computer tower, camera and lenses, and my photo albums.
i think everything else i have is more easily replaceable.

Throw all those things in plastic storage bins w/ lids and put those on top of my pool floats.

    8. I have two dolls and one on the way. I WOULD RUN INTO THE FIRE FOR THEM. they are my family, I would risk it all for them. I know that sounds awful but I have severe OCD so.....

    9. If I had time, I'd take them. It's mainly because the dolls are expensive and insurance might not even give you the replacement value back, considering some dolls are worth way more than their original retail price.

But if I didn't have much time, then no. I'd be more worried about getting the people and the pets out, plus any essentials for the people and pets to survive.

    10. I hope all is well for people affected by Harvey. I'm having to think about prioritizing my things for a complete opposite natural disaster, fire. I'm in Washington at work watching ash fall like snow, we've reached a point where the fires are close enough that we have to think about safety zones. I would have to say that yes I personally would take my dolls for multiple reasons. I have more time to prepare to evacuate and clearer car access than the people dealing with Harvey, also the only things I have of value (sentimental and cost) are my computer, cameras, and dolls (in that order). Naturally I would save my child and dog above anything else, but if I had time to save items it would of course be those.

    11. Right now our community is being threatened with forest fires. Parts are under evacuation notice. I've got a plan to get my important documents, electronics (phone, iPad, computer), clothes, and yes, dolls as I have time to be ready.

    12. Also wondering what to do as Hurricane Irma is projected to go through my state this weekend. My girlfriend, pets, and I are planning on going to my parents's house, since it's sturdier than the house we're in, which is kinda a step up from a mobile home. I honestly think there's a 50% chance that our house will be damaged enough that we won't be able to move back in. I was planning on packing my dolls up and putting them in the bottom of an interior closet, but now I'm thinking I might as well take them to a safe place too. I might need to sell a few of them after the storm to make ends meet after all.

    13. I have also thought about this and I have to say that I'd take my dolls.
However, if the chance came up that I couldn't then I'd place them in a fireproof safe that I have and keep them protected. It really depends on what you're willing to part with and how much it means in your life.
My family's house did burn down so I lost two of my dolls in the fire and I was quite upset but once you see the big picture and see all the things you lose it's really hard to be sad about just one thing.

    14. I only have to worry about floods and tornadoes but I would absolutely take my dolls with me. They're the only important belongings I have besides signed celebrity pictures and they're so dear to me.

    16. If I can bring with me things (dolls and my other most things I care, yes) , if I dont have time not, but I would surely try to bring with me most important things. If have to risk life not. I will leave things at home and just wishing later I would stil find something.. I would never risk my life to save my dolls. I would not commit suicide for objects even if they are so dear to me, our life is more precious of any object..

    17. I'm in Florida, and we get hit with Hurricane Irma tomorrow....all of my dolls (I have 3) are going into a box and going in my car just in case I do have to evacuate. Since I have the time. (I am inland and not TO worried).

    18. It really depends on what kind of evacuation. If it was 3 days notice that my city will be hit by a hurricane, then I might take some of them. If it was fire and we have to evac IMMEDIATELY then no, most likely not. I'll be busier taking care of my important paperwork like passport and marriage certificate and my tax documents than dolls. I won't die without my dolls, but I'm screwed without my legal paperwork.

    19. If time allowed, like a prior warning deal, of course! Though if it was a sudden fire I'd be more concerned with grabbing my elderly cat and booking it.

    20. We recently had wildfires pretty close to our area (Pacific Northwest), which made me think about this, too. First I'd have to grab our cat and dog and their supplies, plus our medications. I'd grab our cell phones/chargers, laptops/chargers, my purse, and a bag of toilet supplies (toilet paper, baby wipes, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc). Probably a couple bottles of alcohol, both for disinfecting if needed, but because I would need a shot of alcohol to calm down at some point. Probably a bag of food supplies, coffee (we cold brew). Then if there is time, and room, what dolls I could fit into a small Rubbermaid, starting with irreplacable first, then most loved. But with a Kia Rio, a 70 pound dog, and a cat that would need a large carrier and a litterbox, it's dubious I could fit that doll Rubbermaid in. I would have to take chances that they would survive the disaster, and then any looting. But our safety, and our pets, would come first.
Hopefully it never comes to that, but we also live in an earthquake zone, and the news loves to tell us after every earthquake that happens anywhere else how we're pretty much doomed to be swallowed by the earth, or if we survive that to be cut off from the mainland for years and end up in a Mad Max style landscape.

Geez, I need a drink now....
