1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Interesting Tiny restringing aids

Aug 3, 2005

    1. I printed this... thank you... now to take pixie to the fabric store to pick out the right kind of elastic....

      oiks!

    2. Here is how Heather wired her Elfdoll:

"Yeah, it's just a straight piece of wire. I pulled out her leg at the hip and stuck the wire down through her thigh and and into the top half of her lower leg(that took a little bit of doing on one of her legs the wire just did not want to go down into it). Then I slid the top of the wire up into her body. She stands beautifully now. In fact she's been standing on my desk all night. She's so much more fun to play with now that I can actually pose her."

One or two people said they used 22 gauge craft or floral wire.

This wiring is different from the piece of wire mentioned above for use when restringing to pull an elastic loop through a body part.

Has anyone done the arms this way? What gauge wire did you use? Thinner?

      Thanks,
      Carolyn

    3. I used a craft wire ,Im not sure what size  (I had it in a glass flower kit LOL ) *_*
I found it easier to wire as I was re-stringing , I did the arms and used the same wire , but again I found it easier to re-string and re-wire at the same time :D

    4. Okay -- good to know.

I have some white plastic-covered wire, but actually that isn't "strong" enough to help her hold a pose, so I think I need to go back to something else. I just liked that because it was white.

She STILL does need to be restrung; gonna take her along to the craft store and pick out an elastic that seems to match, and hope to try to do that this weekend. She's here as a guest, she's not mine; and I am anxious to get her home, if I can get her fixed up! Bloody little wanker, she's really giving me fits.

    5. # :crushed ..BUT NOT CRUSHED ...Absolutly killing myself laughin

    6. I've been reading too much Terry Pratchett... Crivens! Ach, ye middlins! :D

    7. :love :roar -laughing ...I read him all the time

    8. Hurray! I was hoping this method was possible. My Catsy is on her way home and I ordered extra elasic. Now I can set one set up for her boots and another for her normal feet and never have to worry about messing with fishing line when I feel like changing her from boots to bear tootsies! At least no until the inevitable happens and the elastic starts to streatch out too much.:sweat

    9. Wow I had forgot this !

    10. I also have a newbie question. ^^; I recently got an Oriental doll JI when you wire a dolls legs how does the wire stay? Do you attach it to the feet like the elastic or does it just stay on it's own? My girl is in bad need of restringing cause her legs are so tight she is perpetually in a sitting position. ^^;

    11. Thanks for the tips! I don't have my doll yet, but I'm glad to know what to use when I get her!
