1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Batchix, oddly enough that subject came up today when I was speaking to a friend of mine about the whole CP/Luts debacle going on right now... the conversation turned to a tangent of what sculpts were available pre-Luts. I mentioned Ghaleon and the very same issue, that he's actually a sleeping Shiwoo Elf, not a vampire despite what some people have said. =P

At the moment, I don't have multiples of the same limited sculpt, unless you count my MNF Shiwoo Elf/Vamp twins. But they're still two different heads that came in the same set, and it was fairly numerous for a limited run (I think it took months to sell out).

Overall, I haven't gotten flack from anyone for my limiteds. I have felt a little pressure to share photos, particularly of my Latidoll Adel because there are so few on DoA. But it hasn't ever been in a negative way... more of a positive "I'd love to see more photos" than "you need to share pics of your doll".

    2. I supose if someone had say 9 out of a LE of 10 then I'd think that was in bad taste, although I'd keep that oppinion to myself

but at the end of the day of someone can afford a limited and are lucky enough to get one then yay for them :) it's silly to harass someone just because you were unlucky and missed out

    3. I can understand the feeling of wanting a limited you can't have. I got into the hobby just after soom's Sard order period closed...I'd love to have him so much! To harass people over having multiples of him though? I don't see why. Hurling abuse or making demands does not change the fact you don't own the doll and the people who where lucky enough to get one, do.

Honestly, I'm just so glad people post pictures of their limiteds. Makes me feel happy to know so many people are getting happiness out of their dolls :)

    4. And that they do it with every hot new limited that comes out. "Oh but I can't bond..." Right.

      That makes me mental:evil:

    5. It's done with any "collectible" hobby though.
Not the bonding stuff but the flipping.

    6. They honestly thought Ghaleon was a Dreaming Vampire...?

      :doh

This had to be someone who'd never actually *seen* a Dreaming Vampire Shiwoo in person. Even with Ghaleon's eye mods, he doesn't look like one.

    7. It is. And it makes me mental there too, only in other hobbies you get to call them on it.

    8. @lilie: I think Octobercrow was merely trying to assure these people that they probably needn't worry for negative behaviour towards them, as they only own one limited.
The fact that she doesn't own a doll (yet), doesn't mean she isn't allowed to participate in this debate. Neither does it mean she can't say something useful (which I think she did).

Personally I feel that if you want to own more then one limited, it's your business and your's alone. I don't understand this 'we should give other people a chance too'. They wíll get a chance, they can buy the same doll too. And if it's sold out before they could, then there's this little place called the second marketplace. It's only a matter of time before the dolls will show up here and most of the time they are quite easily to obtain and if you're lucky and have patience, you will get one for a very decent price.

Of course I feel this little sting of envy too when someone owns a doll I'd like to have, but this usually makes me more determined to get my own. In my opinion it's quite ridiculous to think people should sell theír doll, because I believe I'm entitled to have one too.

      (ps.
I know I can sound a little harsh at times, but I didn't mean to offend anyone.)

    9. Ok so I have one limited already and two on the way. I would never mod any of them. There are plenty of basic versions around to have fun with. I am even thinking about trying to buy the original girl body for the female head that I've brought for my male character so if I end up selling him at some point, I can at least offer him as was originally intended.

I have seen a few people who have multiple editions of dolls that are completely unattainable for one reason or other and several of the dolls were what I would term....unthoughtfully modded (ie - in a way that didn't enhance the original look of the doll).

I get the beauty in the eye of the beholder thing and understand that maybe someone out there is going to think the mods are great and beautiful but on the whole I just feel that if you have 3 Sards, or 3 Mr Fogg Bermanns or that many of anything rare how about maybe just modding one?

The rare dolls prices are always so inflated second-hand and there's something so disappointing about paying an exhorbitant amount for a much admired and wanted doll that doesn't even look like it did one you originally fell in love with it, just because they come up for sale so infrequently and you freak and think that may be the only opportunity to own it. :(

Thankfully having done some serious lurking recently, it looks as though owners of multiples do get bored sooner or later (particularly where they have had twins dolls) and ultimately end up selling one on, so there is hope. :)

    10. I have two limiteds (well, three if you count the minimee), and so far I haven't gotten any flack about it. I understand the sentiment of unfairness when someone owns, say, 3 of the same mold. But really, if you didn't get the limited when it was offered, then it wasn't meant to be at that time. Later, if you hold out and keep looking, one may turn up. That's how I ended up with both of my limiteds. And it's nice that they're twins but not of the same exact mold (one is sleeping and the other open) because I don't feel as bad as I would if I had two of the same mold. I do like the idea of giving someone else a chance to buy a limited when it's first released, but the idea doesn't really hold up in real life. Either way, I haven't encountered much whining or complaining towards me, but I may soon if I keep spamming photos of my limiteds everywhere.

    11. I will say it does rub me the wrong way when people buy multiples of a limited. It may be wrong to feel that way, but I do. Not that I would ever harrass anybody about it!!! Live and let live... I do acknowledge that if you are lucky enough to have that kind of money, you can do what you wish with it! I am not going to complain about it, or even give my momentary bristle a second thought.

But what really gets my goat is people who buy a limited for whom there is an identical non-limited option, and then get rid of all the special parts of the version they got. Why would you get the limited if there was a cheaper, identical version without all the bells and whistles??? I honestly see this as a flip-job, even if the person says it isnt' like that. Cause after the limited period is over, those hoof legs or kimonos or wigs or whatever will instantly gain value. I say just buy the non-limited and let someone who wants all the option parts have the limited. That's what I would do.

I am not a stink-maker though. I dont complain at people or harrass them for doing what they have every right to do, even if I am not in full agreeance with their methods. I think it's reprehensible to crap on somebody else's happiness just because you are jealous or dont happen to hold the same views as they do. That's just kids' stuff.

Though I do wish I wanted less limiteds!!! I started out in the hobby not really liking any limiteds... I found them excessive, or just not my type. Now I have one limited... and three others I have planned on for ages recently became limited or discontinued. TAT So now I have to pay twice the price I planned on every single one of those three...*L* Well, at least the time I'll need to pull each one of them off the secondary market will control my doll-spending. *LOL*

    12. If you've really got the money to buy more than one then go for it. Theres nothing stopping you. No one has any right, besides the company to tell you how many that you can have. If the company wanted a limit 1 doll per household, then its their call. But other than that I don't see what the big deal is.

    13. I'm trying to buy a Tatiana-Pierrot, but not because she's limited. I completely LOVE her character, and even if i cannot get her, I'll be buying a basic and attempting a similar faceup on her. I love my Wren to death and I don't even own her yet  I would never think of her as something to boast about saying "I have her and you dont!" or that kind of thing.

I have no idea why anyone would be angry for people buying Limiteds. People buying multiples of the same limited is a bit harsh though... I could fully see anger towards people buying 5 of the same LE doll, I myself might even be angry :sweat I still wouldn't harass anyone about it though.

    14. I've never been attacked for having ((waiting on)) an LE, SOOM IO. But about two days after the ordering period I had someone contact me asking if I might be thinking of selling him >_> it was kinda awkward since there were so many split threads for him and I had none up.

    15. I think it is in awful taste to harass someone else because they have a limited and you don't, it is even more bad taste to suggest you would love it more than they do...but I still maintain that privately you are allowed to feel jealous or narked if you see someone with three Sards or three Woosoos, particularly if you joined the hobby after the ordering period and you face insane second-hand prices on the open market.

You don't have to be nasty to the person, in fact you should never be nasty to someone else for their good fortune, but in your own private life there is nothing wrong in feeling your emotions. You don't have to censor yourself. I think there is a bit of pressure to be 100% nice through and through in this hobby. You are allowed to feel upset or annoyed if you missed out on a limited you adore and suddenly you see someone with three and a fourth on the way. You can be annoyed...just don't stalk the poor person who has all these limiteds because chances are they didn't get them all from the first release, they had to hunt high and low too.

    16. although i may get a little envious about others having dolls that i would like myself (and i know a lot of people get that feeling, even if they don't admit it!) i would never ever attack someone for owning them. sometimes, jealousy drives people to say and do cruel things that they probably regret later when they realise how silly they've been behaving.

i've never had anyone behave that way towards me inside of the BJD hobby however, but i have experienced it in other places and it is usually frowned upon.

    17. I have four volks limiteds and people have never bitched about it, unless they've done it where I can't see/hear.

I don't treat my limiteds any differently then my non limiteds and I never act like I am better then someone else because they don't have limiteds. I think maybe that's why I've never had any stick because of it. Although I have seen some people who can be really mean in the community so I've sadly got no doubt that it does happen to some people.

    18. /Agree Nobody is obligated to care about anyone else's feelings community or not. Nobody should feel that they have to create a locked journal because someone with jealousy issues might take it personally. If you are having to take a lot of flack for it because you enjoy your limited dolls ask yourself what is the other person asking you to do, respect their feelings? As harsh as it may be someone elses feelings aren't your responsibility. Buy what you want to buy, post what you want to post, and screw anyone who wants to feel butt hurt over and personally victimized over something so asinine.

    19. There is a doll i want that is Limited, but i would never consider buying more than 1 of her.
If i am going to own more than 1 Limited doll in my collection,i would NEVER buy 2 of the same doll,it just wouldent feël right for me.

    20. I feel that some people judge people that own many
      limited dolls elitist..
