1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Iplehouse 70cm EID Akando Discussion Part 3

Jul 15, 2009

    1. sooooo....give it up...what did you have done to him?

    2. I think that is just it. We are so used to seeing Akando on the Superhero body that he looks odd on anything else. But I guess it proves that the model body does look sufficiently different, which some doubted. Anyway, if you can forget for a minute what Akando usually looks like, that actually looks really nice. DIfferent, but nice.

    3. Oh, wow, that certainly does look different. And definitely convinces me that I want the Superhero body.

    4. And see, I am the odd one out, I prefer Akando on the Model body. Then again, I just prefer the Model body in general, it's less exaggerated.

    5. I'm with you Gayle. I love my boy on the Superhero but I could definitely go for a Gentle Akando or Akando on this boy in future. They're both beautiful sculpted at any rate and its lovely to have the choice. Model boy is still the beefiest "skinny" boy around. :)

    6. Glad I am not alone Sylvian! The Hero body is just too beefy for me, where as the Model is wonderfully male and muscular, without being over-the-top Fabio like.

    7. I like Akando on the Model body too. :) I'm more a 60cm person, so despite how much I LOVE the Akando mold and the body, I'm intimidated by the big beefy size. But I think I could maybe bring home an Akando if there is a little less of him to love. ;)

    8. I think Akando's head's too heavy for the Model body, which is rather odd considering Mr. Strong Man looks great on it. O_o Maybe it's the 16mm eyes that Akando has - he doesn't seem to balance out with the slimmer line of the model.

Then again it could just be the bushy wig he has on in those photos.

    9. I agree with Pam on the Ewww part:?. I thought the Akando on the Model body was a little boy at first. Or it just maybe the way he was photographed. I may change my mind if I see more better pictures but personally I still want the muscle body.:)

    10. :nosebleedAkando on the Model body........whoa did not see that one coming.....he looks sexy!

    11. I think the Akando /w/ Model body looks rather nice, if definitely much younger.

    12. I MIGHT be getting paranoid but, depending on the lighting, sometimes, the fingers and nose-tip of my NS Akando look to me like they got an ever so slight greenish tinge. I got him sitting around in my room all day long, so he's yellowed quite a bit (well, the parts exposed to sun, like his face and the backs of his hands. I guess I AM getting paranoid. And if not, well, just gotta live with a permanently seasick pirate. *lol*

    13. I'm sorry to hear this. Just call him Kermit.;):sweat

    14. :horror: *Don't scream, don't panic, don't scream...* Maybe sharing a few photos could get you a second, third, fourth opinion? And how badly has he faded/yellowed? :...( Well crap, I was hoping that the NS weren't so color shifty like the RS are.

I swear I don't get this. I have some less expensive dolls and I don't pay much attention to sun or light exposure and they haven't change a micron in over a year and a half. It seems like the more expensive the more you have to baby them.

    15. Pants. Seeing as I have now swapped my greening RS Akando for a hopefully more resilient NS version, this is not good news.

It would be good to see some photos but I know from experience that the green that looks so marked in real life really doesn't come out well in photos.

      Anyone else expericing this?

    16. My NS Akando has gone ever so slightly less Pinky in the months I've owned him and taken him outdoors for pics, but no greening here. At one point his headcap looked greenish but I cleaned it off with a magic eraser good as new.

    17. Well, I ordered my Morgan on Jan. 1st, 2009 and got him - dunno when, to be honest. But I've had him out of the box and sitting around in my room, exposed to sunlight, all year long. The colour-change is quite noticeable. You can see it best on Morgan's hand's: their backs that have been exposed to sunlight have yellowed quite a bit. The palms are still very pinkish. Now, I don't mind THAT - I always thought the NS pink was just a little TOO pink for my taste. He looks paler now but a really nice shade of pale.

I guess the greenish tint I seem to see on his fingers and tip of his nose now and then is partially due to lighting and partially due to paranoia. I'll try to take pictures of yellowed vs. unyellowed when I'm back home. Don't have my camera here right now. So, all in all, I wouldn't call the resin-colour stable but at least, the result isn't all that bad.
