1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Iplehouse B.I.D. Baby discussion part 9

Jul 7, 2016

    1. Linda is a real cutie but I don't think her head is compatible with the new BID-Q body. Below is a link to the notice on Iple's board. You could always ask and make sure though if her head would fit or not.

Support < Notice < BID New Body

On a side note, (hope it's not against the rules to mention this) but there is a Linda doll on ebay right now (not my auction and I don't know the seller) but wanted to pass along the info in case you were interested.

    2. Ah, I saw that post but thought they must have updated some of the heads. I guess I assumed the Q body wouldn't be listed as an option if the head wouldn't fit. I'll just get her on the old body :)

    3. Asking on Q&A to be sure is not a bad idea. However, on Linda's order page Iplehouse has both bodies as options (see screen capture below). I wonder if they adapted the other heads but never gave an updated notice. Because all the basics also have both bodies to choose from also, not just Elin and Bono (as written by Ipleouse as the first two adapted).

Maybe in the rush of all the sales and worrying with re-casters they forgot to tell? That would be great if all the others were adapted too.

    5. I like the lplehouse BID Q Becky. Now just wish the bjds l have for sale would sale so l can get her.

    6. Boys will be boys, as they get distracted from trying to wrap up Christmas gifts, and decide to wrap up Ringo instead....

    7. Certainly not a lot of action in this thread. So I'll post another photo.

My Nami received another big Lego set for Christmas this year, and her friends came over to help her play....

    8. I love Legos, too. This photo is adorable, and your little resin children seem to be enjoying playing.

    9. All of the Basic dolls have the BID cute body option now. However Coy, Eros, Becky and Lina have ONLY the 'q' cute bofy option (no face plates for the new dolls.)... What Inoticed is that the 'cute' body does not have a gender option. No "boy" q option. and you can't get the new sculpts with a boy option at all. O_o

    10. Also since no one has seemed to notice...

      BID REMY

    11. Good observation, Lady Tiku ;-) Not that I plan to buy another BID, but it is shame that the newer sculpts cannot be bought with the original body. More variations are always welcome in this hobby. I wonder why Iple hasn't simply updated the neck part of the original body, it doesn't look like a big deal and if they would do it, they wouldn't need different head attachment mechanism for both versions ;-)

About Remy, he seems like a cutie. I wonder how they will style him. But seeing his description as "lovely and innocent boy", I guess that he will be just another clean and frilly nice kid. Oh come on, Iple! Where are some more rascally boys with knee-patched trousers, shirts dirty from tree-climbing and bruised elbows?(Not to mention tomboy girls, right.)

    12. I agree! Let's see some dolls with some 'character'. I love my Ringo and Effie (modified Addiction Efreet). I was worried at first that they might be a bit limiting, but they are actually very versatile....

    13. Totally! Yours Ringo is a classic and I was looking forward to seeing how you manage Effie, and she is a delight to watch in your photos <3

BTW, seems that Iple actually might have done what I thought - that is to change the original body's neck to fit the new BID head - because with the new BID Remy, there is a head choice option where all current BIDs are listed, even the Q-type-only, and there is also the option to choose the original body (so it is possible to get for example Q-Eros on the original body). Is there anyone with a fresh BID arrival on the original body to confirm or dismiss this issue? ;)

    14. My Effie (modified Addiction Efreet) celebrated her birthday (one year anniversary of her arrival) recently.
She was so excited about her big castle cake....

    15. Happy birthday, Effie! That's some impressive cake, @MB Lilac! Great use of her expression, too <3

My Ennie (Elin) got a new ponytail wig! There is a lot of flyaways, but overall, I am rather pleased with it :)[IMG]

    16. Thanks! It's always interesting trying to make her expression look natural. She's usually either very excited, or very bossy.

Love your Elin's wig. It looks very natural, despite the flyaways. Girls that age never have perfect hairdos.

    17. Or singing! Her singing lessons with your Asa were a brilliant idea too :thumbup

Aww, thank you! I was rather afraid of how the wig will turn out, but it went really smooth and now I am looking forward to create more styles for her. Next in line will be probably a braided hairstyle for her "fantasy" persona ;)

    18. I'm always uncertain about how a wig will turn out as well. It's definitely my least favourite thing to be doing. But if they turn out even close to what I imagine, then they are so much more 'realistic', especially for boys.

Do you make a hard wig cap?

    19. Yeah, I do make hard caps for the wigs, out of gauze and local sort of "tacky glue". I experimented with sewn wig caps, but the hard caps are much easier to work with :)
The realism of handmade wigs is a huge bonus! I actually really enjoy making wigs, although I am always nervous about the outcome. I love working with angora mohair, it is an amazing material, much much more beautiful in real life than in my crappy photos, but it is rather hard to find in local eshops (I can't afford to pay double the price for shipping) and still quite pricey. So I have to be careful not to mess it. ;)

    20. I don't mind adding the mohair, but I find the actual hard cap challenging to make. Although I have figured out a system, and just completed four caps - 2 for FID guys, and 2 for a House Elf. Now I need to make some for my new KID. I've never made one for a BID though.

I'm lucky as to the mohair supply. More than twenty years ago, when I was doing OOAK art dolls, there was a woman at local doll shows who raised goats and dyed their hair to sell for dolls. It was very inexpensive, and I ended up with a drawer full of bags in all lengths and colours. It was interesting in that the younger goats had curlier hair, while the older the goat got, the straighter the hair became. She'd label the packages of mohair with the names of the goats they came from.

When she stopped and cleared out her stock, I got several bags of long white mohair, but I've never tried dying it yet.
