Thank you, I’m looking for a more colorful outfit, she needs warming up. She is on the q body but I feel like she is photographing thin? I need to work on a better picture for her because it really is not doing her justice.
The 'Q' body explains the thinner, longer neck. You could always add a bit more blush to her cheeks, without sealing it. That's what I did to my fair Elin. She was also very pale and needed some warming up.
I was thinking about enhancing her faceup a bit but I have never done it so I’ll have to do a little reading on the topic.
My three 'new to me' girls.....Elin, Aki & Erzulie. They are almost ten years old, and are in the original Normal with the French Resin - which I prefer to the current Normal. I already have another Elin in SR, so this one will be named Erin. She was very pale so I added a bit of blush (no sealer). I also have another Erzulie in Light Brown, so this one will be named Lizzie.
What medium did you use? I need to buy some pastels and brushes maybe even a practice head. I’m finding it difficult to find clothes for the q body, not many sew for them specifically and I didn’t realize how much of a difference there would be.
I used some quality chalk pastels. Created some chalk dust on a nail file, and used a soft brush to pounce it on. I didn't seal it, so it can just be wiped off and reapplied .
I will get some supplies, I was going to use new makeup brushes but I forgot to get some while shopping yesterday but I’m in no hurry since I’m waiting on a dress to be made. I tried on a pink outfit I have from another doll line, it doesn’t fit but I could see she looks better in brighter colors. I also got her a better, more realistic wig so she will come together eventually.
I ordered some supplies to enhance Elin’s blush and lips. I’m also waiting on a more colorful outfit, but in the meantime I got a new wig and I’m working on her angles. Add a little golden hour magic light and she already looks like a different doll, I was not happy with her last photo.
My Bordy’s new eyes have arrived! She arrived with green ones from Iplehouse which I liked, but I think these smaller brown ones seem to “fit” her better.
The smaller eyes really make a change. Same with my Bono. First with the bigger eyes from Iplehouse. The green color is beautiful, but i like her better with the smaller blue eyes.
@BrigitteJ - Wow, what a difference! She looks so much better with the smaller eyes. I also love the darker wig. Iplehouse does send nice eyes, but they are too big, and it seems so wasteful to constantly have to replace their eyes, when it makes their dolls look so much better. I wish they'd send their dolls with a size smaller. As it is, I have one HUGE bag of rejected 12 mm eyes, some in very beautiful colours, that no one is ever going to wear. Some of my gang on 'Lollipop Day'....
@BrigitteJ it is crazy what a difference eye size makes! Those look like the same eyes I received from Iplehouse, they’re beautiful but IMO too big for the BIDs. My SD girl is currently enjoying them @MB Lilac your lollipop crew is adorable! I love your Coco, Iplehouse makes adorable expressive sculpts!
@BrigitteJ - Thanks @midget16 - Thanks. That's my second Coco. Yes, there's some adorable sculpts, especially among the earlier BIDs. I think Ringo is my most expressive....
@MB Lilac your Ringo is adorable! I just got back into the hobby this spring, I missed out on both Ringo and Coco from the winter sale I’ve been debating getting an Eros before the sale ends, he has the same smirk my 6 year old gets when he’s being mischievous!
Both Ringo and Coco have been discontinued for years (in 2014) and you can only get them on the secondary market. It's funny how certain dolls remind us of certain people. I never cared for Ringo at first, but then I had a granddaughter who used to pout like that all the time, so when Iple decided to cancel him, I thought I should probably get him, and I'm so glad that I did.
I enhanced Elin’s lips and cheeks a bit with chalk pastels. I also swapped her and Bono’s eyes, now Bono needs a new picture too but I didn’t have time this evening. Besides I’m waiting on new dresses for both of them.
@MB Lilac I missed them by quite a bit more than I thought!! Ringo’s pout is adorable, I don’t blame you for ordering one when you had the chance! We went to the Dollar Tree earlier and found a doll house that is a great yosd size! There were a couple different colors, my girls have taken this one already so I’ll have to go back tomorrow and grab another one
