Thanks for sharing your Pams @luluna and @susieagent99 They are both lovely. You don't see too many around.
your photos are SO beautiful @LyanneNZ and @luluna !!! I wanted to share my Captain Jack Aubrey and Lt. Tom Pullings in their undress uniforms. I just finished Pullings’ coat today. Jack is an EID Luo painted by the amazing Lyn Raftis. Tom is a 71Ath SartoriaJ Demian. I made all of their uniform pieces and their bicorne hats too. Now to finish their wives’ outfits so they can appear together too….
Amazing work on those costumes - so detailed. This Luo is so handsome You must be so happy to get these done!
Thanks @sageyufi !! It’s been interesting finding all the bits I needed too. Thank you @LyanneNZ !! It was certainly fun researching the uniforms too. Didn’t Lyn do an *incredible* job painting my Luo?!?! He’s my favorite of all male sculpts. I’m quite sad that I never managed to get a second one. I will definitely be happy when the last dress uniform coat is done, sewing for the guys is so much harder than for the gals and less fun (for me) too. The full linings are always quite the job, aren’t they?
Yes Lyn did an amazing job on your Luo. I have a Luo too and am tempted to give him a new face up but our summer hasn't been very cooperative for painting, or at least not during the time I had off work. I also enjoy the sewing for the girls more so my boys tend to just stand around looking handsome with what limited clothing they own I have a Luo and a Kamau in the larger dolls.
Both Luo and Kamau were fabulous sculpts, weren’t they @LyanneNZ ?! I had a Kamau in light brown back in the day - he was gorgeous too. I let him go to someone who wanted him more than I did tho. This Luo tho, will never leave. I’ve seen a few others who are just as gorgeous as mine too! I hope that your weather cooperates soon so that you can repaint your Luo! My guys spent a lot of time just standing around in whatever I’d found for them too. Then a couple of years ago, I just got brave and decided to try more garments for them. So much work tho!! The women’s clothing is SO much more enjoyable to work on!! I’ve started a couple of Regency petticoats for my Master and Commander women - just need one more dress too and then they can join their men in the photos!
I love both of those sculpts very much. I painted my Kamau a little too moody and I'd kind of like to paint him more easy going next time even though I like the actual paint work LOL...like literally wiping the frown off his face I also need wigs for my boys. I am so impressed with your male clothing. I'd love to create some more one day for mine so maybe...I have sewn a little for my FID boys. Wrestling with the big dolls is more challenging now Let's see if I can find an old photo of one of my boys - I haven't taken new photos of them in a long time. My Kamau by LyanneNZ, on Flickr
@Robyn_in_WA - I'm still drooling over your lovely Luo! One of my favorite sculpts. @LyanneNZ - Ahh...Kamau! Such a wonderful Iple sculpt! So handsome! It's nice to see these classic Iple sculpts again! It's a shame they are discontinued. While I'm in this wistful mode...here's one of my Luos...whom I call Mowgli. Mowgli_2 by luluna33, on Flickr
Oooh @LyanneNZ your Kamau is gorgeous!! You really did a great job painting him! And his 5 o’clock shadow is spectacular!!! I hope that you keep that when you make him a little less ‘moody’? His leather(?) coat is pretty dang sexy too! I think you might find that sewing for the 70cm guys is rather easier than for the FID dudes? But I agree, wrestling with them getting them dressed is not easy at all!! Oh man @luluna your Mowgli is incredible too!!! Great wig for Mowgli too! Who painted him? Another great face paint. I really do *adore* the Luo sculpt. And you two take the MOST gorgeous photos of your dolls!!! totally jealous here!
My big dolls have a place of honor on the display, but funnily enough I haven't photographed them much lately. That's cos their combined weights makes group photoshoots a backbreaker, even if I want to show off HID Scarlet's brocade robe that I spent so much time working on. Here she is with nSID Mari and their Granado Noah companion. Three Elegant Ones by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
@AntarelNefertili Great job on the robe, it's absolutely gorgeous! I also love the composition and the way you styled all of your dolls! Thanks so much for sharing
Thank you @Quiet and Insane and @sageyufi -- I got the idea while browsing for doll clothes on LegendDoll. I do not mind buying pre-made doll clothes, but alas, sometimes the price tag is beyond budget. Since I still had some brocades and lace from my fabric-hoarding days, might as well put them to good use!
Hi! I’ve recently obtained a big Iple girl (Wendy Vampire and Jessica heads) and was wondering if the 8-9 wig size was generally accurate. I’ve mostly owned anime-style and Volks dolls previously, and tried on a couple for sizing and none were even remotely workable- if I trimmed them and used a silicone cap, they’d still be very loose and visibly bulbous, even the new ones that had never been used. The single ancient 7-8 wig I had sitting fits much better. Should I just trust the process and buy wig(s) for her in the 8-9 size? For what it’s worth, most of my wigs were marketed for Volks/similar stylized dolls with bigger heads.
