Iplehouse EID boy - Arvid

He's fantastic! I hope he will be released as basic in some months, because I don't have money now. As for his outfit - it's too rough for me, so I won't regret.

 

It doesn't seem that long between IH releasing ltd editions and the basic version. A month or two.

I'm confused about where I posted what nowadays (the cabin fever ain't helping), but I asked IH about the possibility of longer layaway plans in future. A true plan without penalty. All I got back in response was a quote of the current policy. I think the suggestion for future changes part got lost in translation. I wish they would since they don't have partner retailers. Really, that 4-6 months past the intial payment timeframe isn't a layaway plan as much as "grace" period before they consider your order forfeit. 5% of a grand is $50. Not so bad if you just had to stretch it to 4 months. 20% is $200.

 

Is there any way to know IF he's going to be released in basic and/or CDS? D: For some dolls, they never did.

 

I'm worried too if they don't actually release him in Basic as I much prefer waiting than to put him on layaway as I've got my eye on another LE right now. But if he's not going to be released in Basic then I'll have to purchase him now as I've already got a character in mind for him and he's too awesome to pass up. >.< Guh.

 

My guess is he will be released in a basic. The only dolls they really haven't released in basics are the dolls that are considered AA sculpts, Ashanti and Kamau in the EID line, Denzel in the SID line and Benny in the JID line. I feel sure Arvid will show up as a basic eventually. At least that's what I'm counting on.

 

Me too, Jin. I want him in NS as basic. I don't have the money for him as a fullset. But I wish I did. He's so handsome

 

He's handsome, but at the same time, he raises the same bone of contention that I have with basically all of Iple's male EID. I feel that a lot of their releases look far too similar to Akando. "Storm" and "Arvid", at least to my eye, look like a slightly altered Akando.

Which is fine, since some people dig it (and I like the slightly more "stern" and/or "chiseled" features that Arvid has to offer), but yeah...

Wow, he looks so good! I think I'm in love. D: He's like a cross between Van Helsing and John Marston from Red Dead Redemption. XD In clothes anyway!

 

Echoing JinCincy, they've released pretty much everything in basic except the African-American sculpts. If you like those, grab then when you see them. So far of the males only Kamau has been released through CDS. And if you want Arvid in NS like now, you can order NS via the special edition form.

He appears to be a hybrid of some prior sculpts. Luo, Storm and Tedros have been mentioned as his daddies. . Same sculptor probably. But of the prior three, only Tedros ever flicked my Bic, and that was only in Tan. I hurt for Arvid. It's sad. But being in the midst of paying off another $900 doll and his outfit is enough of a dollie burden. I owe Lester since he's patiently waited in the wings, and he's easier on the wallet. And then if I have a lick of sense I'll take a break. Arvid may have to wait for 2012. Of course, I fully expect the EID snd/or SID male representative in the Elemental Guardians line to test my resolve. I feel it my bones like a bad storm.

A perverse part of me fells like I should boycott until they give up answers about the YID line. But I'm too weak.

 

Iple sculpts do have a familial resemblance just like many companies such as Soom. When the Luna Tamer came out, I wasn't quite sure about getting her and then I saw a Pierrot Tatania at a doll meet and loved her. She reminded me enough of Luna that the next day I ordered my Luna. The same then happened when I saw the Tokyo Storm pictures. I liked him but those pictures did him no justice and the weekend that the Tokyo dolls were to be available to order I took a good look at a friends Mars and could see that Storm had a very classic Iple sculpt.

 

He's hot! Personally if I had the money I'd be going for Felix instead (plus he's part of the sale) but I really want Arvid's clothes and weapons for my Tedros. Ugh, his bullets are for sale separately but not his other accessories....

 

They only did the bullets seperately because they ran out of form options on the doll's page. The outfit may be sold later on. They did with Felix's special ed. outfit. Don't know what they'll do with the weapons.

 

So taxes took away a little more than I expected. And now I can't really afford to get Arvid at this point. Guess I'll console myself with getting a few things during the sale. That sucks so much though. Stupid tax filing.

 

There are definite Tedrosian and Luocratic elements to Arvid. I like Iplehouse's family lines. My Vito is very Evanly, and Eva is like the female version of Mars . . .

It could well be a bad Storm *runs away*.

I am ordering him too but I had to push it back with Soom's attack on my wallet today. I hope to order him next week in RS but I have to do layaway!
