Doh! Well, are you getting the fullset? Comes with eyes. Nice ones. If not, I know you must have some 12mms to use in a pinch?

He's really squinty, btw-- has anyone experimented with any other sizes yet? I have some 10s that look too small & some 14s that look too big, so clearly more experimenting is needed.

I agree his default eyes are gorgeous! Khalid is keeping his default eyes. I've had no desire to change them they are so gorgeous.

I put size 14 Souldoll eyes in my SE Luo, before he headed out for his face up, and I'm thinking they are too big and I"m going to have to find some 12's in a brown shade similar to my 14's. It's amazing how small the eye sockets are on such a big guy............they are definetely smaller than Akando's.

 

I know-- I have a boxful of enough eyeballs to stun an elephant, and yet I find myself stonewalled on this guy. It's embarrassing! Shame on my eye-bin! ^^ Akando can get away with anything from 16s to 12s. He's much more versatile with that younger face. Luo seems to have not-much-room for size variation. I'd be curious to see if he can wear other brands of 10mms, but he's squinty enough in 12s.

It's a good thing I like the Strongman default eyes too; he can live in these for awhile. I wouldn't've picked blue-gray for him particularly (sue me for repeating myself, but I crave olive-green and amber), but this is a great color, and very flattering on him. So I am perplexed why Iple doesn't just sell THESE? They already sell this same brand, Glib glass flatbacks, but they don't sell 12mms. This may be a job for the Q&A board.

EA Gumdrops 12mms, btw = do work! SUCH a shame that Grace just seems to have disappeared!...

 

The only color Gumdrops I have in 12mm are a violet grey shade (the real color name is escaping me at the moment) and I want my SE Luo to have some shade of brown. I do have some Eyeco Carmel in 11mm I think. I need to try them out when he gets home and see how they work.

I really hate that there is no news on Grace/Gumdrop eyes either.................I love those eyes.............

 

Awesome - esp the Safrin & Everpurple - let us know! I knew you'd have more 12s lying around than me. ^^ (I have so many big-eyed schoolboys, I just never shopped for small sizes...) He seems to only take 12s yet.

My only 12mm gumdrops are Java Frost & I don't think the color suits Radu very much, personally. I wish I'd sprung for Mellow Yellow first, but... 6-month wait, how were we supposed to know back then that Luo was even coming? ;;

Eyeco Caramel /would/ be great - you think the 11mms?

 

Not sure, but I'll see........They may be too small to fit the eye socket horizontally.

I've heard of other Akandos & Evans having that same foot part break-- I don't know why they use load-bearing resin parts in the feet, instead of a nice strong bar that a metal S-hook can hold onto. It just sounds like a weak spot waiting to happen, especially if you string the doll halfway-tightly.

Isn't that skin color incredible, though? Doesn't it make you want your entire collection, beautywhites included, re-cast in Brown?

Congrats, anyway! Hope the foot gets fixed. And hope this doesn't stand in the way of homecoming & eye-changing pictures. ^^ Show us the loverman!

 

I emailed Iple asking if they would PLEASE release Kamou in that brown skin tone. They basically replied that they didn't know if that would happen or not, so I have hope, LOL! I LOVE that skin tone too........it's my favorite.

 

Iple really seems to love that blue-gray color, don't they? The defaults that came with both my Kamau and Lt. Cocori were the same shade, but in acrylics.

As for the Glib glass oval flatbacks, one possible alternative for folks who want the same shape in smaller sizes are these eyes from Antina's -- http://www.dollsupply.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=53&products_id=151 They've got a similar shape and low dome and come in sizes all the way down to 6mm! I picked up a few of those in 12s for eye experiments with a tiny, but I liked them so much I have my Kamau wearing them too. I've got several sets of the larger Glib flatbacks here too, and I honestly like the color and threading in these cheaper eyes much better...if only the color selection were a bit more extensive!

 

Speaking of eyes, my guy has 14mm HGC ones (and they tend to be on the large side!). I try to put all mu dolls in their maximum or minimum size allowed so they are all as close as possible to 16mm, because this makes me somehow feel that they belong to the same universe, even if they might be very different molds and brands; so to me, no sd dolls with less than 14mm, even if that means that I have to modd his eyes a little. In the case of my Kamau and my Luo, both are with 14mm as well. I had to modd my luo's eyes a little bit, but kamau's are default sized, and the 14mm does not work bad.

Kiyakotari, I am sorry for your guy. THat happened to me with both my Evan and my Akando too, is the classical 'broken foot synthom' of the EiD's, take a look at their board and count the threads named 'broken foot!'. In my opinion, integrated resin-hooks in the feet are quite a bad idea. Metallic ones would be much sturdier and safer.

What I did was to super-glue the broken bit, after i took pictures, so I could play with my doll until Iple sent me the replacements. Thanks god I did, they needed more than two months -_-UU
