Iplehouse Elemental Guardian- Knight of Water Claude SID

Jul 27, 2011

    1. Congrats on those getting this lovely doll! I'm Jealous.

    2. Just ordered my Claude with faceup, unpainted armor, and a bunch of extra clothes for both him and his love interest. Now to find some brown, green, or blue 12mm urethane or NICE glass eyes! I dont think my little Yos even take 12mm eyes. o.o kinda crazy...

    3. Congrats Ebi - seeing all these Claudes getting ordered is making me anxious !!! Really wish I could start making some clothes for him - as it is, he'll probably end up wearing a kilt the first few days :D

    4. odd dup - sorry!

    5. I decided that this will be my first BJD! I've been waiting for my knight in shining armor to come along in the BJD world & it doesn't get much better than this!

I'm wrestling with some conflicts though:
Which skin type do I want?
Should I get the armor brushed or non brushed?

I prefer my dolls a little pale, but the white skin looks a bit too pale. I'm just afraid that the real skin will be too dark. From the pictures it looks just perfect, but if you look at the picture comparing the brushed to non-brushed armor, his left hand looks really dark... I'm not sure what to think... I tried searching around for pictures comparing Iplehouse's skin types, but I'm afriad I won't find it until it's too late.
With the armor, I kinda like the white-ness of the non brushed set. But the silver looks so good with his clothes..

So many choices! Must make them quickly!

    6. Reading this thread makes me go to get my Claude...
but I'm still hesitating , because I couldn't earn money this month:(. Also,my small room is already crowded with Iple dolls but ...He's very charming.

LiviLovelace, a very interesting information! Thank you. If I could get my Claude, I'll paint the armour with Spectra FX .

    7. Teslithia I'm so excited to hear about another Claude! For skin-type, if you prefer lighter skinned dolls I'd say go with their normal skin, its a lovely looking natural pale unlike the white skin which is white as a sheet of paper. but if you want your boy to have a light-medium tan go with realskin.
http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...ntain-nudity&p=7538928&viewfull=1#post7538928 I think this post has a nice comparison of rosewhite, normal, and realskin.

As for the brushed/unbrushed armor, as I see it, its a choice between painting it yourself or having them paint it for you. to me it looks like the armor is cast in white skin resin, and unless you say its made of clay or bone, it would probably look silly. Personally i'm getting it unbrushed because I love the idea of painting it myself.

Good luck with your decisions and congrats on finding your knight in shining armor!

    8. Ebi Thanks SO MUCH for that link! I've been doing searches for the better part of the day, but that thread looks perfect! I only dove into it a little bit, but I think that Real skin is a bit too dark for me, while white is too light. I might go with normal. going to read every single page of it & ignore the work I have to do.
As for the armor, you do have a very good point. So I think I will have it brushed after all. I'm not very good with painting things, so I wouldn't want to ruin it.

    9. No problem, I'm glad I was able to help! I know I keep browsing through that thread over and over, there are just too many beautiful dolls in there! XD

    10. I think that despite all of the negative feedback on mobility joints on Iplehouse's larger dolls (can't say I wasn't warned!), I'm still going to go with that option. It may end up driving me crazy, but we'll see. Too bad Iple says they won't sell replacement thigh parts, though.

I also thank you for the link, Ebi! I hadn't actually realized how dark the realskin was. Hmmm. I'll still go with it, but now I won't be so surprised when I finally get to pull him out of his box.

    11. So I posted near the beginning of this thread saying that I really hoped I could get this boy by the end of the order period... well several things have got in the way in the meantime (bills, soom, TV license, soom) and I thought maybe I should just let it go because having two big dolls on layaway felt a bit OTT, even if they would be paid off early. Turns out that all went out the window after I saw the "Claude reviews" page. He is AMAZING! It's so great to see him with all the different hair colours, I was gonna go for dark brown anyway but the saddlebrown/reddish colour is especially nice. I love how Iple knows full well they've struck gold with this one. Fortunately I'm not into all the armour etc, just basic for me, maybe with faceup, so that helps.

Not really been following this thread fully, I know it's very early days but have any Claudes shipped yet? I recall Iplehouse sometimes starts shipping the ltds within the order period if it's long...

    12. Wow, Iple you really have to do this review for every doll you are selling!! LOL

So helpful in comparison, etc. Still envisioning mine as a blonde (he would be Russian, rawr) but he's just so droolworthy in every colour xD

    13. Oh, man, way to bump up the temptation!

I still haven't made up my mind on what I want. XD I thought I had settled on Realskin, but after seeing some of the images in that last link above and the Claude Review, it looks so much darker than I'd expected. It looks perfect in those top images, but really dark in the resin comparison shot. In some of the images, the normal skin looks good, other times it looks too pale for what I want. I think I'll probably still go with Realskin, though.

    14. Cap'nH I ordered my Claude the day he came out and he STILL HASN'T SHIPPED *shakes monitor out of rage*

I did get blushed armor (although I got the doll blank) so that might be slowing down my order, but my guess is that none of the Claudes have shipped yet.

And lol, I was wondering what this Claude-Reviews-Page was and now that I've found it I am even happier I got this doll :3. He looks amazing in all the pics - even when he is blank.

      ~edit~
After looking at his face blank I would say he looks like a mixture of Chase and Storm...

    15. I am a complete pile of hopeless Claude-fangirl goop after looking at that Claude review. This boy is PERFECTION :fangirl:

    16. I placed my order last night & I'm brimming with excitement! I was going to get him via layaway, but my husband told me to pay it all off in one shot so that when I saw the bank account dip once, I only panicked once. XD
After reading through all 31 pages of that thread & then getting another thread with more pictures, I went with the normal skin. Real skin really looks a bit too dark for me. I prefer my dolls pale. I did get the armor brushed though. I went with the full package. I even got him a pair of jeans & a shirt just in case I want to see him in other clothes. Now I'm on a hunt for accessories & any other SID clothes that tickle my fancy.
I'm so excited over him! Seeing his review page made me squee in excitement! Chances I won't see him until Christmas, but it will be a great present! I'm already starting to think of what kind of girl I would like to get next, but I must keep that information from my hubby. XD

    17. Couldn't have said it better myself :P

    18. I agree, he's got that charming-smug look to him ;) And I wonder when mine is gonna be ready, I got him blank with nothing but boots ...

      ditto!!!

    19. Fan-girl goop here too...what a stunner...in every skintone and each of the faceups...

I'm so thrilled I managed to order him...I just wish I had enough for one in each skin colour!!

      *swoon*

    20. I should totally not be in here but I am glad I lurked because that review from IH is drool inducing! I was tempted with the blond wig, and I love him in the darker wig/gray tshirt combo. He even looks amazing in the NS option with the blond wig.
