1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Iplehouse Fashion Doll Discussion - Part 12

Oct 27, 2016

    1. If you are talking about Lyn Raftis, unfortunately she is no longer painting. She is super awesome and her talent is missed.

    2. I've found that a number of my preferred artists are no longer painting for the public. I understand if their health was suffering or it was no longer enjoyable for them or even if Life happened and they just don't have the time anymore. Doesn't stop me from wishing that the artists I like were still painting dolls *sigh*. It's tough to find a Canadian artist that I like especially since there doesn't seem to be a lot of them out in the wild (I'm Canadian and if I don't have to send my guys out of the country to be painted, awesome).

One of my friends was thinking of getting an Iple boy for her Xmas present. I warned her of the insane shipping they've been charging and when she did a mock order to see how bad it would hurt, she was seven kinds of nope and cleared the cart. Shipping is bad enough with Iple right now but when you add in the painful exchange of US/CAN dollars... I think she said the shipping was almost 1/2 the cost of a doll.

    3. I'm Canadian too, and with the low value of our dollar these days the prices of everything is something to seriously consider before ordering anything. I've always loved Iplehouse's dolls. SartoriaJ J makes some beautiful ones too, but their dolls don't pose half as well. At least their men don't. Their women are better, but still not as good as my FID ladies. And yes, their wait times have become ridiculous. I waited over eight months for my Dominic. But at least they often offer free shipping, and that does make a huge difference. And their faceups are gorgeous, and just as advertised.

Anyways, my friend who has done all my JID, KID, and BID faceups said she would try fix my Baron. Then if she can't, then I will consider someone International (US or otherwise). I really need him looking as close as possible to what he did before, because he's the main character in my stories, so can't suddenly look so different.

    4. I completely understand the differing look for a character thing @MB Lilac . It was hard for me to get new wigs for Moswen and Fei-Lau because it would change their look somewhat. I know people change hair colour/style all the time but..... Moswen's wig was synthetic but 12 years old at the time and had def lived it's life to the fullest. I couldn't even remember where I got it. Fei-Lau's was mohair that had started to matt in the back and was about 8 years old. Took me forever to find replacement wigs for them that I could live with and it was still a bit startling to see them in the new wigs for months. I'm fine with it now but it took a while and that was just for hair.

Moswen needs to be re-painted as he's my favourite and he's def lived his life large (he'll be 15 years old in 2023). Not only does his face-up need to be re-done, he has full body tiger stripes that also need to be re-done. Aside from not wanting to send him away to the original artist (who said they'd re-paint him) for months, I'm worried that he'd be too different even though the artist said they'd do their best to re-create their original paint job.

Hopefully your friend can fix your boy and you avoid the PITA of having to send your guy out of the country. Both my Ipl guys have default face-ups but they're also several years old and I bought them before all this... whatever started with Iple.

    5. Yes, Lyn is awesome. I love her work, I'm sorry she not painting any more. She repainted an Iplehouse guy for me that I messed up his Iplehouse faceup on. Plus, she did my 5th Motif boys, who are just amazing.

    6. I ordered a doll September 3rd. Can anyone give me a time frame for shipping? Iple used to be very fast. Haven't bought anything from them in a while.

      merry merry :candycane:gingerbreadman

    7. Iplehouse seem to take longer at the moment.
I've ordered a doll around the same time, too, and while they initially told me that the doll would be ready for shipping in December (with other words now), they just told me that they will need more time. So yeah, I guess at this point we can probably expect half a year for shipping.
Still crossing fingers though, that they will be faster and you will receive your shipping notice soon.

    17. Thanks! It had been a few years since I had an FID New Year's Eve party, so decided to let the dolls who didn't attend last time, go to it. I could only include three couples since I'm seriously limited as to the formal contemporary outfits I have. I found it interesting that everyone looked much younger like this. Especially Lawrence, who usually looks so much more imposing in his black knight outfit and longer hair.

    18. They do look younger! Maybe it's the relaxed party atmosphere! Three couples are perfect for a New Years celebration at home!

    19. Speaking of formal wear, does anyone know a good source for dressy clothing for FIDs??
