Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Iplehouse Toyko Story dolls discussion! New SID boy Storm & SID girl Soo

Jul 7, 2010

    1. No, that's right. If you order by the end of the "event period" (Aug 12), then you get free schwag.

If I can pay in full by then, then I'll totally do it. It looks like I'll need to do layaway, though, & I'd much rather get the fullset I want on layaway than get a mystery free gift...though free gifts are nice, I just wanna make sure I don't miss the chance to get my doll, y'know? :)

    2. Well...that was fast. The new suits are sold out already!

    3. Oh I'm with you! I'm in a similar situation...I do want the fullset no matter what. I wonder what kind of free gift you get anyway? I never got anything free from a doll company before...so I have no idea what to expect.

I've ordered so much from this company in the last several months...I wish I could buy stock in it. LOL.

And gah! The suits are selling out already. Dang!

    4. Oh Boy! I am doing my happy dance. I just ordered Tedros full set with beard and 2 katanas. On the downside, I sold my Ashanti to finance this - but I really wanted him so bad in that gorgeous dark brown.

    5. What body size do you think is shown in the Iplehouse photos of Tedros Tokyo? I broke down and ordered him. I knew I would kick myself later if I didn't. :)

    6. I have a dumb question --

I'm wondering if the hair ornamanets come with the girls. I'm assuming that the wigs aren't styled like they are in the pictures. I'm guessing they'd just come in their regular net and bag and we style them ourselves if we want them to look like the pictures. But, I wonder if we get those cute hair ornaments if we buy the wig or the kimono? Obviously not a deal-breaker either way, but I can't tell from the listing and I'm curious.

    7. They don't really say exactly what they'll be sending, but I assumed it would be clothes/accessories for the size doll you ordered.

      From Iplehouse:

Oh, that's an interesting question, actually! I was assuming the wigs would come styled exactly as they are in the pics, since it's a limited fullset thinger. I think if you post this question in the Q&A they'll answer you quickly though. :)

    8. I am pretty sure that the wigs will come styled with the hair ornaments, since it is such an integral part of the whole look.

    9. I don't know, I would think the wigs would be a little more expensive if it came styled already, instead of being the same price as it is on their wig page. Maybe the hair ornaments are included in the outfit part of the order. The only thing that makes me think this is that Asa's wig is the exact same number as Soo's and they are obviously styled differently. And its a regular wig that they already sell. Could be wrong, that was just the impression I got when I was looking to order.

I'm looking to put my order down for a blank Soo on Tuesday or Wednesdays whereabouts, just before the order period ends. I'm already practicing sketching eyebrows for her face-up. I've got a whole page in my sketchbook of just tiny little eyebrows. It looks kind of creepy, but I'm getting better at it!

    10. I also think that the wigs are standard wigs that we can style as we please. I do think that the hair ornaments will come...um, I'm going to guess with the outfit.

    11. I hope the black colored wigs won't stain my Soo's head, I would be so upset if that were to happen since I paid over $900 for Full Set. I think I will look for silicone wig caps for her to wear.

    12. Anytime you get a wig with that funky-feeling "wet look" styling product in it, chances are it'll stain. Akando Pierrot's default wig stains immediately & stains like crazy; Tedros Circusmaster & Luo Strongman's wigs didn't stain at all.

I like those thin cloth wigcaps that Volks is selling now, because they don't take up much room under the wig & don't leave a big-ass gap, so they're easy to hide in photos. But you could probably get the same results if you cut off the toe of a pair of pantyhose & serge the edges. XD

    13. Yes, some if Iplehouse's wigs stain and some don't.
I have a black one which did (and she was wearing a silicone wig cap at the time too! >.<) and a very dark brown one (their old natural black) which never did even after months of my doll wearing it non-stop! I would recommend washing the wig with some mild shampoo right off the bat. It doesn't effect the style of the wig since any curls are set with heat.

    14. OMG!! Thanks for the advice, I will wash the wig and get a wig cap too, how sad that her wig may stain her head like that.

    15. So, it's true? - I had heard that stains go right through silicone wigcaps, & Lady R's testimony bears that out. Which is weird & seems to defeat the purpose of putting it on your poor doll's head in the first place. ;; One of those extra-wide broccoli elastics would give better protection.

Seriously, in a pinch, cut off the toes off a pair of tights & pop that over your doll's head. Or if you can sew, stitch up a semicircle envelope of fabric. (And a rubber band underneath will help it stay on.)

    16. Unfortunately yes.
Although it did not penetrate the center of the wig cap (at the top of the head), just around the edge.

But it was defiently the edge that was under the wig cap. T.T
Perhaps it only stained the MSC and not the actual resin? I don't really want to remove the faceup to find out though. >_>

      [IMG][IMG]

You can see how the stain actually follows the shape of the wig cap that I trimmed (I put the cap on a bit "up" so you can see both edges). It's almost ironic that it didn't stain past the edge of the wig cap, but in fact, only under the wig cap!
Needless to say, I don't bother with the wig cap any more. Heh. It's pretty much only useful if you have a wig that likes to slip off because it is very grippy. However that makes it a pain to put wigs on...so it's really not worth it in my opinion.

    17. Aww! D: Poor Silvia. Yeah, that's your classic wig-stain... It's almost never the crown of the head, just the band. Probly because the band is tightest, & the color leaches right through everything. Even silicone. Gah!

Depending on how long she sat with that wig on her head, chances are the staining is just in the MSC & paint-layer. But yeah, you'd have to strip that part of the faceup to clean it. It's fairly easy to hide with most wigs, anyway. (Even if YOU still know it's under there. ;; ) Unless your doll goes bangless a lot.

Not to veer too much further offtopic, but when I have a slippy wig, I just reach for the Velcro. <3 (Or Volks Pitatto Wigstopper, very good stuff, gentler than velcro.) Silicone is a miracle-material for practically everything else in the world, just not for wig protection.

Anyway! I hope Soo & Asa's wigs do come styled & ornamented for you. And I am glad my Tedros will be staying with his Jim-Morrison-shag hair.

    18. Hehe, it would be nice if the wigs were styled...though at the same time...I almost want to experiment with crazy geisha-inspired hairstyles! I would probably fail miserably. ^_^"

And no, it really can't be seen when she is wearing a wig (even a bangless one), but I do know it's under there so blarg. Heh.

      But yes...back on topic!!
I've been trying desperately not to foolishly check my order status every day while Iplehouse is on vacation...
So far I've managed to only check it once! >_<
I want these lovelies to start shipping!!

    19. Tedros has been ordered! First layaway payment sent! :dance :celebrate :cheer :dance

    20. [IMG] W00t! Congratulations! Two beefcakes in the house are even nicer than one.

I hope they start shipping soon! I feel like I can't take any pictures of Hassan until his replacement arrives, because I don't want to risk getting any more attached to the realskin one... or something superstitious like that. XD
