Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Iplehouse Toyko Story dolls discussion! New SID boy Storm & SID girl Soo

Jul 7, 2010

    1. Derilan85 -- Thanks for posting pictures of your Soo. I just looked at your box opening and I'm so envious! My Soo's status is still "Before Shipping" so the anticipation is killing me. I'm getting her with faceup but no kimono. I paid for her on the next to last day of the event so I probably have a while to wait. Post more pictures of your Soo and help me keep my sanity!!!!

    2. Thank you so much for sharing your new pics of Soo and Tedros.
Indeed, yes, Tedros definitely looks angry with these eyebrows, I hope mine will look like Iple's pics because, then he would not fit in my doll family. I don't want him to be a really bad, angry man :)
RobbinA, my status is still "Before Shipping" as well, I understand how you feel. I'm becoming more and more impatient.

    3. Thanks all for the warm welcome for the angry guy! I'm dressing him *bad* as we speak!

luluna : Tedros is definitely worth the wait. I was glad I held out for the tan one, although I wish I had the Circus Master outfit to put on him!

JennyNemesis :Exactly what I thought about the lilac wig! I just tossed it in my "going to sell at the doll show" pile! I love Iple, but even they can't make me put Tedros in lilac.... and thank you for acknowledging his taste in the katana/sword and red leopard briefs. I think they are the perfect look for Valentine's day. Not that I am trying to freak anyone out, but I thought the black print looked like lip prints when I first saw them. :wiggle *goes off to find Akando in Valentine pin-up shot*

Azha :  My thoughts exactly! Whoa baby on the extra attitude!

Peach : Best of luck on your Tedros, and hope your guy fits in to your group well. I've always found angry, brooding men kind of fascinating (Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights types) and Iple must have somehow just known that. :)

    4. WOOHOO! Tedros arrived yesterday afternoon and is absolutely FABULOUS.

Well, except that I need to restring him....

Pictures at some later point because I've had company all weekend but WOW! I'm so delighted.

ETA: Oh! freebies. Yes indeed. One was a caramel colored tail wig. We laughed like idiots saying that he was Kenshin's long-lost half brother or something -- I totally love that wig, but I'm sure it won't be his over the long run :) It's this wig in Saddle Brown. http://www.iplehouse.net/shop/step1.php?number=1738

One was a tan sleeveless sweather with a HUGE snap-up collar, and separate sleeves... (or leg warmers -- for that 80's look?). Nice sweater but he won't be wearing it right away as I neglected to get any EID *pants* with him. Durr. This one! http://www.iplehouse.net/shop/step1.php?number=1738

And finally was an EID sweater. Black, snaps up, and is... fuzzy. As though I need something else to shed in a house with three cats? ~_^ and a matching scarf. Actually quite nice extras. May end up trying to swap them or sumpin. Anyone have a kind of glam boy? :)
I think it's the jacket and scarf in this set: http://www.iplehouse.net/shop/step1.php?number=1864

    5. [IMG] W00t! Awright, Kay! Pictures yes yes now pictures!

Did he come super-extra-loose? When I got my Circus Master, he was so loose his legs would drop out of their sockets every time I picked him up. I appreciated the consideration for his joints, but man, I hadda take up like 8 inches of elastic. Dude needs to keep his act together. XD

Sounds like we need to set up an EID Freebie Swap thread! There are many hilarious items being bandied about, and it sounds like some of them could use help getting re-homed... and there will be more arriving.... Still no shipping notice for me yet, but I am continuing to brace myself for both the faceup and the freebies. ^^

    6. RobbinA- I hope your Soo ships soon, it is so cloudy and cold outside right now and no sunlight....I will take more pics of my Soo once the Sun comes out again. She is really different from the rest of my dolls that I have now.

    7. Yep, he won't keep his butt together. Very embarrassing for such a tough looking guy.

I want to get some fat string -- I used up my last batch restringing some other guys -- but for the meantime I may double-string him with the extra set they sent.

The faceup is to love, I think... :)

    8. I hope the swap doesn't start till I get my Tedros. He and Benny are still trapped in the Iple dungeon and even if they ship next week, I have to send Benny off for a face-up so that's more time to wait. At least he will have a face-up with that smexy facial hair..sigh....It's really hard to wait for 3 dolls (Carina also) while being pregnant with twins and so huge you can pop at any moment. I blame my impatience on the hormones but hopefully I will be recieving that huge box next week and I can get some sewing in before the babies come. Iple said Carina would ship early Oct.

    9. YES ON THE EID FREEBIE SWAP THREAD! I need to rehome that Lilac wig via that thread. Unless Baakay wants to trade it for her peacock sweater. :)

Congrats on getting your boy, Baakay! Sounds like you got a great group of freebies there. Ah yes, the 80's. Those were some high stylin' days.

    10. Somebody told me (now I can't remember who) that we should resist the urge to put SD16-sized elastics in an EID, because it would break the resin hooks in the feet?.... Anybody confirm this yea or nay? I have heard those resin foot-hooks are a known weak spot for some people's EIDs, but I haven't heard whether string-thickness was known to be responsible.

That was my first instinct too, putting in extra-thick strings on that floppy Tedros, but I didn't put in the big SD16 elastics, just in case the rumor's true. I did at least upgrade him to thicker SD13 elastics, which seem fine. The strings they gave him were utterly flimsy little thin things, the same thickness as the ones in my YIDs. How embarrassing when a guy can't even keep his butt-plates together!

....Sounds like Kay got the "Cruller Sweater". :whee: Oh Iples, thy mysteries are boundless.

    11. I wonder if Iplehouse has switched to making the EID men feet like they do for the SID/EID women feets? My SID girl's feet don't have a resin hook in them, they look like this:
I would assume that these are also what are coming with newer EID women, since the same feet are used for both.

I know they've done it for the JIDs; I saw a new JID recently that had her feet done like this. ^^ So if they're doing the EID men feet like this, maybe one wouldn't have to worry that much about using thick elastic with them?

    12. Whoa, that's different!

    13. It seems Iple sends funny items as gifts. :)

mysticaldolldreams, thank you. I agree with you. At first, I didn't want to own a male bjd because they looked too girly for me. But it was before I discovered Iple which makes real men. It's just that I think I wouldn't like a too bad and strong expression on his face. He would scare my Pukis ^^

    14. I just always wondered why they don't sink a metal eyelet-screw right into the resin of the foot, in the first place... isn't that more secure anyway? These dolls are so huge & heavy, one would want the maximum possible strength there at the stress-points.

None of my Ipleguys have ever had problems with that resin foot loop/hook breaking <<knocks wood>>, but it seems I have heard more than one report of it for EID men. But, who knows, the rumor about the thick elastic being responsible, that might not even be true.... I can't validate my gossip source (so to speak). ^^ Was wondering if anyone else knew, either way.

    15. First congratulations on all arrivals!!!! How exciting and fun to get funky gifts with them. LOL.

My EID's ankles seem to always want to overtread...(know what I mean?). I've had to tighten their elastic to try to prevent this and sueded the ankles. I do worry about that reson loop breaking. My SID Lee seems to stand better...and he was strung tightly right out of the box.

    16. I never had a problem with feet breaking until just recently..................had 2 in a row that arrived home broken, and when I ordered replacements they did come like the foot shown above (solid piece of resin for the hook with the whole in the center), so yes, they are using the new type feet for both the guys and the girls now.

    17. Wow, RROSS, I don't think I could handle all that waiting.

It does look like an EID free gift swap thinger will be quite necessary. Darnit!

    18. Oh, that's cool about the new feet! Innovation is good. :thumbup Thanks for the info.

I'm hoping someday they'll make EID Mk.II-- the same beloved Gigantor body, but with the improvements to the elbows, knees & feet that they built into the SID. I got to play with somebody's Lee Acrobat right out of the box, and he was posing like an action-figure. That new bod is amazing! (And Lee is also irresistibly cute.)

    19. Yep, I'd love it if they reengineered the EID elbow/knee joints to be more like the SID's...............course, maybe I don't want them to go there. I'm already about filled to capacity as it is, LOL! I keep telling myself NO SID's because I don't want to start buying yet another size of clothing........................I am VERY tempted by Lee And Storm though. They will probably get me eventually, LOL!

    20. That's a good point to consider, Peach. Must watch out for the little Pukis at all costs. :D

I can confirm that my Tedros came with feet as pictured by Quirk. And I also know what you mean by the overtread, luluna. My guys do that too. As for the other points, I'm afraid I'm too shallow to work on my own dolls, so don't know those points. Although Frank, who restrung my Strongman Luo for me, used industrial strength elastic in him! Or so it seems. :D
