Iplehouse Toyko Story dolls discussion! New SID boy Storm & SID girl Soo

I know I am having dreams about this Brown Skin Tedros with fullset outfit and sword, so it must be fate. I just need to have my money ready when they go on sale!

When does this sale for the Tokyo Story dolls start and end??

 

I understood that it was from July 12'th to August 12'th?

That is the beauty of an ordering-period.... you don't have to worry about him selling out! No more getting up at 3 AM just so you can catch that first 'Buy' button when it's midnight in Korea. (Ask Idrisfynn; I slept in her study on the night Tan Lion LE10 went on sale, because she had a faster internet connection than mine. XD)

If you like fitted clothes on your EID, it turns out that Model & Superhero actually cannot share clothing. :X I am learning this now! Now I've got to buy two of everything I like in the two different sizes (Hassan doesn't have much to wear yet). The Superhero ass really IS just that much bigger! It's insane, how different their pants are. And the Tedros Circusmaster coat (Model size) is too tight on Radu (Strongman) for him to move his arms while wearing it. Some garments are fine for sharing, like stretchy shirts or baggy elastic-waist pants. Fitted stuff, though, arrgh.

I think the difference is really obvious even at-a-glance, but that is probably because I have spent so much time staring at these guys' bodies. ^^

 

There are nude pics of the Model Body from Iple here, & there's a side-by-side comparison of the SH body & the Model body here.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting Tedros on the Model Body. I think his face (slightly longer than it is wide) would just look 'right' on the leaner, longer physique. Here's a photoset from Flickr that appears to show Circus Master Tedros on a model body.

I haven't seen pics of the Model Body in SH clothes (maybe JennyNemesis can help us out here? ), but just from the measurements I'd say they'll prolly look pretty big. I'm thinking in a "this is my Boyfriend's sweater" kind of way, or maybe just in an "I like my clothes big" kind of way.

And I make shirts for my EID boys. The aloha shirts are NOT fitted, in order to fit both bodies.

I'm trying to tailor that, so it will fit both a bit better, but we just moved from Florida to Kansas, and my Superhero is in temporary storage until we get a house.
But I can do t-shirts that fit well. As JennyNemesis said, stretchy fabric will work on both bodies.
So if you're devil-may-care about fit, it can be done. But if you're needing a nice tailored look, you'll have to buy for whichever body you're outfitting.

Re: the SnarkPost on Iple - That was totally uncalled for, and took me by surprise. I'd been seeing the attitude creeping into posts there, and hoping it was a fluke. Darnit.
I kind of hope they turn off that comment section on the dolls. I always just used the Q&A section to post my drooling over a new sculpt to them. Not like the rest of the world needs to know what sculpt is keeping me awake nights.

 

Aernath- Thanks for the wonderful nude comparisons, I love that Model body, so much detail it ain't even funny!

JennyNemesis- I am really relieved to know this info, I don't want to miss this handsome doll in this skin color. I think I would actually cry if I did.

 

Now I rather feel a bit disappointed by the kimono for this Tokyo series. But that's because I really had very high expectation for Iplehouse's "accurate" work I guess.
Tedros & Asa are still definite problem by just how good looking they are, and I do like them in their respective outfit.
Oh there is never enough space for my cast family!

To make things worse, it seems my big breast girl and medium breast girl demand different clothes occasionally too!

 

Model body...hero body?
Scruffy facial hair or no?
Mobility thigh or not?

I was just thinking about something. When people told iple they wanted an Asian EID male doll, did they specify exactly what kind of Asian they wanted?
I was just looking a Tedros's pictures and a thought occurred to me. He could defiantly pull off a middle eastern man. That's Asian....just maybe not the kind of Asian we were all expecting.
I, myself, was thinking of an EID with Oriental facials traits.
Anyways...that was just a thought. I don't believe Iple meant to do that, but all the same, it works.

 

I have so many questions and choices to make but one thing I know is that I am upset I can't buy the fullset in total without a layaway this time. I'll miss out on both free events.

 

I've been looking a lot at Soo today, and I swear sometimes when i look at those pictures it looks like she is smiling, even though i thought she looked so sad in the beginning. It's almost a little creepy xD

 

I think Iple understands it's for an east asian, hence why they referenced Lee when answering my question. Lee's bio says he has an oriental mom, and a western dad. I think Iple was playing it safe by making him mixed. I don't think Iple should decide whether the customers really want an East Asian EID, based on a mixed doll that barely looks asian exccept in the eyes with that circus makeup on.



After seeing all of the photos, I've decided to get Tedros.

 

Does anyone recall if you can specially request the clothing be in a different size? I know they normally match the clothing size to the body size ordered (duh), but I'm thinking of getting Asa in the medium bust, but my other EID ladies are the larger size. I'd like to be able to have all the girls wear the kimono, however. I suspect wrapping more tightly and having it a bit loose on Asa would look better than having it, well, gaping open at the front around bewbage on Luna and Ashanti, which, while potentially sexy as all get-out, could also just look sloppy or tawdry. I figure this set would be easier to fit to either size without too much fuss, but I'd rather go bigger just in case -- though I don't want a topheavy Asa. Has anyone ever requested this or had this particular dilemma?

 

I'd Q & A Iple to see if they are making that kimono to bust size. Most of their EID women clothes are for both bust sizes. The only time you have to specify bust size is on a couple of the lingerie sets. They made Noctarcana Cherie and Luna to bust size but both those outfits are very tight fighting.

 

. . . darn it, Storm's growing on me. If it weren't for that mouth, he'd make a decent resin version of a certain character of mine -_-;. I'd prefer a stronger nose like Tedros's, too, but as-is he looks like he could be made to have the right expression. I wonder to what degree you could hide his open mouth - it seems to me his faceup emphasizes it - wait, I can't afford him!

 

I always thought Lee looked a lot like an old friend of mine, who is Chinese-Polish-American. Iplehouse's ethnic ambiguity was always one of the things I liked about their sculpts; they don't seem to want to lock anybody in to just one look. Normalskin Cocori looked just like a young Leslie Caron, Samurai Tedros is like Samurai Champloo drawn with a rough hand, and Soo looks like a Jessica with geisha makeup on.

I too am wondering about Storm's mouth; it's painted so dark, it's a little hard to see the sculpt. But I do see teeth in there! Guess you couldn't exactly 'close' his mouth by painting his teeth black. ;; He's more beautiful every time I go back to look at more of his photos too. His face has more of Luo in it than I first thought. Wonderful strong jawline and cheekbones. I see Luo, Tedros, and Vito all in there....

 

When I look at Storm, I see a male version of Jessica...............a brother maybe. The mouth's are very similar IMHO. I do like him a lot!! The thought of yet another size wardrobe to buy makes it a bit easier for me to resist him.

I also made the decision I don't need both RS and brown versions of Tedros, so I'll be rehoming my current RS version and reshelling Mencheres in the brown version. SPace is at such a premium around here anymore, that I can't see doubling up on any more sculpts (especially when there are plenty of sculpts not yet represented here that I'm lusting after, LOL!)
