1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Is Box Opening Still Fun?

Nov 17, 2009

    1. I have about 23 dolls and I'm still thrilled every time a new one arrives! To me it's better than birthdays/christmas. :)

I also love watching box openings. My room mate has gotten a few bjds and it was fun to watch her open them! And I'm also addicted to the box opening gallery XD

    2. I don't have that many dolls, so for me Box Opening is ALWAYS brilliant. I have so much fun getting into the box that I have yet to have a true Box Opening photoshoot.. mostly because I'm so excited. <3

      It's more fun this way.

    3. The excitement is definitely still there, but the box opening ritual got old after the first one, now I just tear into it, eager to see my newest little one.

    4. After almost 30 dolls... I'm still thrilled every time I open a box. Also when I try everything on my doll (wig, clothes, etc.) and I say "yes, as I imagined". I love both moments

    5. I'm relatively new to this hobby, so I can say for a fact that yes it is still exciting opening a new doll. I only have a total of three BJDs. I'm hoping to start doing box opening videos since I have a few dolls on the way. Plus it's always exciting to get anything new that is dolly related. :)

    6. I have done quite a few box openings, and I can say that I am still very excited to open a doll box when it arrives! I don't document each arrival like I did my first, but I do sometimes for fun or if it's a relatively large/expensive/more complicated order just in case.

    7. I do get excited when a new doll arrives. It's not like it used to be, and I'm kinda glad for that. I used to get really anxious when I found out the doll had shipped and it was hard to focus on anything. Anymore I acknowledge that it has, check the tracking every day to make sure there's no issues, and hop aboard the busy train. I always take box opening pics though. It's like a ritual, and I guess sort of a personal thing.

    8. It is, for me.
I think that...as long as something comes in the mail, and it's something I wanted- I'll always be excited. Because I'm happy that it's here.

    9. Yes...the excitement is ALWAYS there when I order a doll. I start to sweat, my palms become clammy, I get a ringing in my head, and I'm unable to sit properly in my chair. After I click that order button, though, I get a feeling of dread like I've been kicked in the gut and usually feel like I'm about to be sick.

    10. I have a number of dolls now as well and the arrival and opening is always fun for me. I still feel giddy and happy when I'm home for a delivery or when I need to walk to the post. I still track everything like a hawk. Sometimes working from home so I can receive the box. I still prepare a little space for the opening and take photos. I think it's a good sign that I'm still excited and not jaded yet. Plus I've been collecting a new size these days, so it's especially new.

    11. I only have two dolls... Box opening for Raine was nothing short of the 3rd most amazing feeling in the world. I had help from Raine, to open Liam's box, and that was absolutely fantabulous as well. The unboxing and the photo shoot behind it was an experience <3

I am currently waiting on my third, and I'm definitely looking forward to this unboxing, just as much as I was the other two, if not more. The doll coming is the physical embodiment of the first RP character I ever designed, and have played canon for almost 18 years now. This unboxing will definitely be "fun". To say the least.

    12. Always! It's always exciting! I also get excited for wigs or eyes or accessories. <3 I've never been one to do box opening photos for every one, usually because I don't have things on hand for them, or they're getting disassembled immediately for face-ups. I've done a few pictures, but honestly I'm too keen on just getting to playing, like a kid on Christmas morning!

    13. Yes! And I also love seeing other people's box opening. But yes it is, I love the excitement :kitty2

    14. Been in the hobby since 2007, and I can definitely say I still feel like a 2 year old on Christmas whenever it's time to open something new. It doesn't even have to be a doll. Just knowing that a wig or a pair of shoes is at home waiting for me to be opened can make my whole day. Right now I have 3 new dolls on layaway and sometimes it's all I can think about!

    15. Yes, absolutely ^^
I've calmed down a bit about it, compared to my very first box openings, where I basically couldn't think about anything else all day (or more like ... all the weeks and months between ordering and receiving) and it was impossible to wipe the dumb smile off my face, haha. But opening a new doll or doll parts still makes me very happy and excited. It's just overall a tad more chill.

    16. YES. OMG. YES. I still get so excited about box openings. But I forget to take pictures!

    17. Heck yes, its still fun!!!
Ok, i kinda died at the moment my first doll came in. It was like a dream, it was nearly 1/2 year after i ordered her. I thought about her evry single day. And evry day it was harder ....
Now im really busy with school, hobbys and stuff, not that much time to think about it.... but sure, im still pretty exited!!!
I still think about them daily and this is one of the reasons i lov this hobby so much! Beein exited and happy about new members is one of the most important part :)

    18. I've only got two right now, but I've got another couple dolls coming in the mail and the wait is killing me lol... you know those box openings are gonna be so so worth it!!

    19. I just received dolls 35-37 last month. (All in one order, yes.) And let me tell you, that box opening was still fun and exciting. So don't worry about the shine wearing off. :)

    20. Every time its a Thrill! Actually I still get excited about them even years after I open the box.
