1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Is collecting BJD's your only hobby? Which hobby came first?

Jun 23, 2014

    1. I feel the same way. I also really enjoy the character creation aspect of video games. It's also one of the reasons why I love rpgs so much - all those nice customization options and being able to create a character that is completely your own. It really draws you into the world and story of the game. And with bjds you can almost make your characters come to life :)

    2. I like to collect things in general, usually stuffed animals. My main hobby is video games.

    3. I have so many hobbies, but the big two, besides my bjds, are making custom molded chocolates and taping my own youtube cooking show. Just tonight I made in chocolate, Jake&Finn from Adventure Time, pokeballs, and Captain America shields. on my youtube show this week I show you how to make tomato basil soup. The show is 'A Geek's Guide to Easy Microwave Cooking'

    4. I guess my biggest hobbies besides BJDs, that both were there earlier, are drawing and writing. The characters for my BJDs come from my previous hobbies. ^-^ I also read a lot, so collecting books and manga kind of is also a hobby of mine? ^^"

    5. I started with collecting Blythes (custom and older stock), then a few Pullips and now BJDs. My other hobby is photography, which I neglected to do for years, but with the dolls I found a renewed interest in photography!

    6. My hobbies include drawing, video games and on-and-off roleplaying. (And running and animals, even though the animals are on a break now)
I've always loved creating characters, and especially designing them so I guess the visual aspect really got me into this hobby. I've never been that good at creating stories for my characters (apart from really general back stories), though, and that kind of bums me out.

    7. I have many hobbies, but only 2 that require a lot of MONEY

Alongside dollies, I also cosplay. Cosplay for me came first, and I'm thankful because it was at a convention that I discovered BJD's! My primary hobby is BJD's now. I'd sooner buy new clothes, wigs etc for my dolls than fabric for my cosplays XD

    8. I've been insterested in art since I was a small child, so I would say that drawing and painting are my first hobbies. Other hobbies included baking, reading (mostly stories about epidemiology and medical history), target shooting, collecting teacups, tea, and piercings.
I started collecting dolls about 6 years ago and have enjoyed using them for reference for drawing.

    9. Nope it's not~~ :)
First I got into manga/anime, then I got into cosplaying and then I got into bjds, and then I got my cat x)

    10. I have asperger's, so I tend to go from utterly uninterested to overly obsessed. Currently, bjds are my "obsession". I blog about bjd (though, blogging is a hobby too), buy more clothes for my dolls than for myself etc. It is not like they are taking over my life, but bjds are definitely the main focus hobby wise for me, right now.

Before that, I have had "obsessions" like: painting & drawing; gothic fashion; elegant gothic lolita; make-up + blog; making banners and such with photoshop on msngroups; online roleplay; fantasy, myths, collecting; witchcraft / wicca; LOTR; The Sims; random blogging; nailpolish.

Currently I still collect books; gemstones and minerals; nailpolish; stationary. I still enjoy blogging, writing an occasional fiction story, reading creepypasta's, reading a book, watching fantasy / horror / thriller / disney movies, listening to music, doing my nails, cuddling with my dog, making kissy sounds to my parakeet, and doodling.

Good lord, I sound like a huge nerd right now, don't I? I've never really been into anime and manga though. Other than pokémon, dragonball Z and a few studio Ghibli movies. xD

    11. Nope! I'm like to participate in music composition, writing, and art. I guess I've been interested in BJD's since junior high.

    12. I have a Second Life Store! :D
      I make avatars.

    13. I am 31 years old and 24 of them my hobby is crosstitching. I knew about BJD just 5 years ago!
So now I have two hobbies =)

    14. I have way too many hobbies tbh, my first one was paper doll collecting when i was 4 according to my dad

    15. I have always enjoyed writing, since I was 10 or so till now, and I am working on several fanfics and short novels at the same time so writing is a great hobby for me.
My other hobby began when I was 12 and a friend introduced me to the manga and the anime. I do not really enjoy that hobby now (I'm 22) because at some point it became kind of an obsession to me and I thought the best was to quit.
Starting to collect dolls helped me a lot in that time, so now my main hobby are BJDs but I am taking them easy, and I am interested in other dolls but not enough to spend money on them.

    16. Anime was something I was really into before I got into collecting dolls. Reading books and going to museums are still a favorite pastime of mines. Shopping for clothes or fashion if you consider it a hobby was my favorite out of the bunch (still is). I started collecting Pullips after finding them by accident (until this day I don't know how I found these dolls) I found out about BJDs through Pullips but just recently bought my first. I got into photography afterwards which turned out was my biggest passion. I lost my creativity in high school because my school didn't offer many programs. Collecting dolls really brought it back. Since then I have also got into scrapbooking, painting, drawing, and journaling. Sewing may become my latest.

    17. Dolls have been my hobby since I was little. I collect all different types- Blythe, Bratz, Monster high and as of last year I finally have my BJD collection started!

Other than that, I'm also a horseback rider, but I haven't had a horse for about a year so instead of paying 700$+ a month on a horse, I'm just spending my time doing other things and having fun with my dolls until I decide to get another horsey! I would say the horses are the most expensive hobby because you have to consistently spend hundreds of dollars a month, but when it comes to dolls, it's not really that consistent. One month I'll spend 200$ on playline stuff, but then the next (like this month-oops) I'll spend 1100$ on resin dolls!

    18. Like a lot of you here, I was into drawing and anime before I collected dolls. I collected stuffed animals when I was younger; I was actually very turned off by dolls and found a lot of them creepy (my grandmother collected cabbage patch children and those always frightened me). I think I started liking dolls when I found my dad and uncle's collection of WWE wrestling action figures when I was 8  Then it just went from there.

    19. It's not my only hobbie :3 I also collect other dolls like Pullips along with (2) monster high dolls and draw! Digital and traditional drawings :P And alsooo... I learn Japanese xD But the BJD hobbie mainly came from the pullip Hobbie, actually, from buying wigs from Tita Doremi got me to find BJDs xDD

    20. Collecting dolls, specifically BJD's is a new hobby for me. My other hobbies span from animation, drawing, painting, sewing, crafting, and cooking. One of my favorite hobbies before discovering BJD's was crafting my home haunt for halloween and collecting halloween related items.
