1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Is there anywhere you refuse to take your doll? why?

Aug 10, 2008

    1. LOL, to work! My boss is a fidget-er. Whenever he comes to my desk to work on something, he hides things, tosses them around, etc. I can just hear the snap of a doll breaking when I think about it! ;)

    2. I generally don't take my boys out of the house at all, unless I'm going to a meet-up or toting them from my apartment to my parents' house. Mostly I simply like to keep them out of the sunlight as much as possible so I don't like them going outside, and if I'm going out to a movie or to a restaurant I really have no reason to bring them, not to mention there are simply too many opportunities for them to get ruined, broken, stolen, etc. and just generally get in the way.

I have only taken them to school on two occassions, and both were for specific class assignments in which I was speaking about them and needed to bring an example in. I considered bringing one in for my art class to use as a model, and may still do so at some point, but until I have a more protective carrier case for them, they'll remained at home.

    3. I only bring my doll/dolls out when I visit some few friends who also have dolls, other than that its just doll meeting.. If I carry them around somewhere, they are most likely packed away in a bag:|
      Sadly but true>__<

    4. I'd never take him to a place to eat, like idk, McDonald's or even a restaurant like Olive Garden, the food, ughh. Along with that, I wouldn't take him on trips that don't involve me staying at one of my parent's houses, such as like Disneyworld or something. I like riding rides, I don't want to have to watch over and worry about Oren at a crowded place.

    5. i wouldn't take my dolls near anything dead, im scared of ghost quite a bit.:sweat
but i take my dolls to school a lot. but people already think im crazy so, they don't really care.
im not crazy, i just like tasting people:)

    6. I think I'd be willing to take my dolls anywhere. The only places I'd probably consider not taking them would be a theme park...or Sea World lol. Unless I intend to go to just take pictures or not go on any risky rides, I'd rather leave them at home for places like that.

    7. I don't think I'd mind taking mine to work, once I get a proper carrying case. I work in a shipyard, and although it can be dirty, I know several clean, safe, dry places I could store her when I have to do things. Oddly enough, a few of my co-workers (older men in their 40s and 50s) have seemed interested in her when I told them about her or showed them pictures - then again, I focus on the hardware aspects of the hobby (like sanding and painting), so I think they see her more as a project than a girly doll.

The one thing that worries me, though, is beaches (and we have plenty of them here). Not just the sand and the sun, but the air is full of salt water! *_* Anytime I go swimming, it takes me forever just to feel clean again - I can imagine what it'd do to a doll! :...(

    8. My dolls have been pretty much everywhere with me - buses, trains, public toilets, resturants, bars, parks, shopping centres, airoplanes, cathedrals, work, a funeral (they stayed in the car though!), the beach, caravan parks... um yeah.... pretty much everywhere. I don't have a problem with the funny looks and snarky comments, nor do I have a problem with carry them about my myself or hugging them in public. I live in Northern Ireland, nobody over here knows what a BJD is or how much it's worth!

The only place I would never bring them is to a music festival of any kind where you stay in tents (not secure enough and really muddy!) or a music gig of any type (mosh pits! eeeek!). I probably wouldn't bring them into the shower with me as well, or paint bombing or something like that, lol.

    9. Class and out in general- unless it's to my Japanese class, in which case, depending on the day they'd have to come with me for my next class as well, and I'm just not going to add "dollie carrying nutso" to my reportoir (sp?) of weirdness....Of course, I'd totally take them out around campus in general to have photo shoots etc. We have a beautiful campus, so I'm actually pretty excited about that....

    10. i know this quote was way far back but i just wanted to comment!

I know exactly wat your talking about! i don't have my BJDs yet but im plannig for a bobobie mei :o and was imagining the doll meets where i would have to tell people that she doesn't spread her legs like that or she doesn't wave her arms so strangely. You get so connected with your doll that it seems like an insult for people to abuse her. you hear her little soul cry out for help almost. I had an experience with my little plush dolls, an emo girl and grover from the seseme street show that i've had forever and love dearly. She has the character where she is hiddenly attracted to him and he likese her too but tries not to show it because he thinks that she doesn't like him. its cute and thats how they are, right at the edge of romance! and i go to Boston with them and stay at my mom's old roomate's house with my parents and her roomates little daughter. The little girls starts making them kiss and everything and she is a sweet girl and shes not going to break them or anything becuase they are plush so i sit there and let her totally violate them!*_* ah, it would have been rude to snatch my dolls away and say "how could you disrespect their beautifully tentative relationship!?" so i didn't and find the incident funny yet disturbing to this day! yay

    11. Exactly the same up until the word "workroom", as mine live in my livingroom.

    12. I don't take out my doll when we go to eat outside, cause there are no places for him to sit, and I certainly don't want him to come him with food stains and oils from the place.

    13. I'm actually really scared to take Bobby out, because I've grown so protective of her... Conventions and meet-up's I'm okay with, but I don't know, I don't wanna risk people grabbing at her or just making rude comments about her.

    14. I'll bring my boys just about anywhere for a doll related event or meet. But I don't carry them around if they don't have "business". Or going out with a doll friend to hang out. I'm 5'2" and my SDs get heavy LOL. But concerts and mass crowds are off limits for me. I don't mind getting crushed but I do mind my dolls getting a beating.

    15. anywhere with children, rambunctious animals (hyper dogs/cats), restaurants, pools/bodies of water with people around, concerts, and other very crowded places.
      *_*

    16. I wouldn't take mine to work--at least not at my last employer and not to the job I'm about to start. My old job just didn't really have a safe place to put them, and it would have seemed very out of place to have them there--same with my upcoming job. Now a few years back I temped at a place where people decorated their cubicles with all kinds of crazy stuff, and because it was a financial institution everything was very closely monitored, so having a small doll there would've been safe and not at all out of place (I sat next to a guy who had a dancing ninja hamster on top of his computer, if that tells you anything). Of course I didn't have any bjds at that time.

Usually I take my dolls out to meetups, to my parents for picture taking, or to a friend's house. They've also been to hobby stores in the past. Some restaurants are not very doll friendly in terms of dolly get togethers--either not enough space or not the right atmosphere. Usually it's a matter of common sense as to what places aren't very doll friendly.

    17. I think the list of places I would take my doll is shorter than where I wouldn't. If she's packed away safely in a bag and I don't take her out, she's just dead weight. On the other hand, if I'm carrying her around in my arms and I trip she could get scratched on the pavement. She's not light, so I would get tired of lugging her around if I didn't plan on actually doing anything, and the risk of damage or theft is so high.

    18. Hmm... I'd have to say...

Work: It's too messy, and we get visitors alot so I'm afraid they will play with her. (Plus my boss brings his granddaughter who would steal the doll.

      School: Uhh... flat out no.

Outside: I have ALOOOOT of young kids in the neighborhood, escpecially Stella, she's violent! She's only 4 and she tackles me to the ground and beats me up (No joke! She punches my stomach!)
I can only imagine what she would do to Aeryn!

      Stores: She could get stolen.

I'll only take her on trips, photoshoots, and freiend's houses. :)

    19. I don't think I'd want to take my doll anywhere where people would be nasty about it, like school or something. I wouldn't mind a few odd stares like that in public or something, but if I were to bring one to school, I'm sure people would tell me nasty things to my face. *_*

    20. I wouldn't want to take my dolls near any place that is sticky and/or dirty. Probably taking them on any cramped public form of transportation would be bad too.
