It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Is there anywhere you refuse to take your doll? why?

Aug 10, 2008

    1. I've taken my dolls to some really odd places, I guess. Cemeteries, parks (one in particular, with beautiful caves and natural stone walls and creeks), stores, the college campus... I'm not too fussed about what people will say to me and I watch my dolls like a hawk when I take them anywhere.

But while I love the area my family lives, I probably won't be taking any of my dolls over there any time soon anymore. With the exception of my cousin, not one of them is under 55 and they all have health problems, so I mostly spend time with them, rather than my doll. And I don't want to leave my doll unattended, especially with certain family members around. I won't get into any detail, but it's not pretty.

Probably wouldn't take them anywhere where there might be a plethora of children. Grabby hands and me being a big softie as major deterrents.

    2. Fast. Food. Restaurants.
This is mainly because: 1) I never go to fast food places 2) GREASE
I don't want any grease on my boy DX!!!!!

      I took him once, but that was only because my friend was visiting and we wanted to take our dolls out. I had a burger, and I had to wash my hands multiple times until I felt it was safe enough to pick up my dollie again ^^;;

Other than that, I pretty much take him everywhere XDDD

    3. I will definitely not take them to any places where there's a high chance of them getting dirty or 'tainted' with strong smells. Although my doll does not seem very fragile or breakable to me (in fact, I feel like I am rather rough with her!) yet I am most afraid of her wigs and clothes or even "her" turning smelly.

    4. Lol! WORK! That would probably be the worst place i could take any of mah dolls. XD
As I work at Pizza Hut... Full of smoke, oil, grease, and gross-ness! OH THE HORROR! @ A@

Maybe if I wasn't in the back. But yeah. Work would be a no no.

    5. I don't like to take my dolls around the mall. Oh I take them to meet up at like Books a Million and the movies and all but I hate having to carry them all over the mall especially if I want to try on clothing or somthing. I also don't like to take them to walmart just because they are kinda distracting when your in a hurry XD.

    6. My mini is lightweight and fits in my purse nicely, so she goes a lot of places, even if she doesn't come out. However, I don't take her to a couple of restaurants that while I may like, I don't like to wear anything I care about in there since they allowed smoking inside (which may be different with the recently passed law prohibiting it in businesses now). Also, she didn't come with me to DisneyWorld last week, seeing as I planned to be running around like mad and wasn't going to bring my usual purse. I'm not afraid of her getting dirt on her, but I don't want anything difficult to get off, like the sort of grease that floats in the air in some places.

    7. When I first got my doll, I took her everywhere. Even knowing I'd get looks (a boy with a doll!?)
But.. eh. Now I don't take her places. I'll take her to work sometimes. Everyone loves her there.
Buuuut unless there's a doll meet or a place with a bunch of weirdos (convention!) I don't think I'll take her out as much. . . Except for photo shoots! The weather has been really nice lately =w=

    8. I haven't taken them anywhere with me yet... kinda reluctant to bring them outside at all because of my fear of them getting stolen/dirty... but I definitely think that I would NEVER take them to school with me, just because I'd like to keep school and play separate... >.> and I think schools are pretty germ infested... also would never bring my dolls near public pools or any kind of water source... I don't want them getting wet for some reason. I can't swim, and neither can they. xD

    9. I've seen several threads about taking dolls out in public - to school, the mall, work - and honestly, I just don't get it. It's not as though they'd enjoy the outing...and it's been a long time since I needed to drag around a security blanket. :sweat

So. The list of where I wouldn't refuse to take him is a lot shorter: to a meet or possibly an Asian convention. I can't think of anywhere else that would be dolly-appropriate.

    10. There are a lot of places I would not/never take my dolls. Mostly public places like restaurants, shops, and work places. I am fine with secluded places like theatres and parks but even so it isn't safe for the dolls in case they are dropped or fall over onto the harsh floor. And just... I would avoid public places since I have a fear of them being snatched.

Mainly I rarely take them out on sunny days. Due to possible sun damage on their resin.

    11. Where are all these snatchers? I've lived in the city for 5+ years and never had anything snatched or seen anything snatched, especially not something like a doll. I think some of you guys are paranoid. XD;;

    12. I don't take mine anywhere except to a meet or my mom's something like that..but even to my mom's is rare...just don't feel the need to drag around something else to hold while I shop or go somewhere..

    13. Unless its a doll meet up or something of that sort. I would never take my dolls anywhere public.

    14. Where? Stores, the mall, restaurants...

Why? People. Many people are rude, and/or can't keep hands and useless opinions to themselves. Heck, I only plan to bring my doll to my college only because the scenery is nice and can make for good photo opportunities.

    15. Anywhere outside of the house? Sorry, I just don't trust something not to happen. I suppose if it was a meet up or something, but then I'd be extra cautious. I don't like to unnecessarily damage my things. Any big places I wouldn't go would be work, school, stores for the most part. Any place where I couldn't control enough of the elements. ._. then again I'm a control freak so...

    16. I don't have my doll yet, but thinking about it my dad's would be one place I wouldn't want to bring my dolls (have two on order, yay!). But because he lives in a different province and I would have nothing else to do but play with dolls/dog I would probably do so anyhow. (That and I can get his fiance to teach me how to sew so I don't always have to buy clothes!)

The reason I don't want to is because he wouldn't understand the cost of the dolls, he's against me having my animals who after the expense of buying them (and the add on of $50 every month for food) hardly cost a thing... I can't imagine what he would say about spending the amount I have on the dolls.. more especially the SD rather than the YO-SD I just ordered (though perhaps that as well because she's small). Perhaps I just won't tell what they cost and let him make fun that I'm finally playing with dolls (Never played with the barbies parents bought me as a kid).

    17. I probably wouldn't take them to school, or a cemetery or something O.o I only take them to strictly dolly places really ... aka. Volks USA Store XD

    18. I'd refuse to take my dolls anywhere that's crowded (unless I actually go to a meet, but even then it's an iffy) or is a place where there generally alot of people going through there. I'd pick quiet spots to do photoshoots (if I ever get around to doing that kind of shoot) where there's minimum people but not enough that it could be hazardous of getting mugged or something :3 I've seen alot of spots I would love to take photos at XD with or without my dolls, but the only thing I'd have a slight issue with is keep the doll clean, lol I would love to sit them on the grass or dirt but hate the idea of stuff touching them XD but I figured I could get those fake patches of grass from the garden/floral centers or something :3 or make sure they have shoes or proper clothing, as I don't mind those as much getting dirty.

    19. My girl gos all over the place with me.
If someone try's to take her, I can just kick them and run away! Besides, no one knows her worth anyway.
I'm used to strange looks from strangers, and my friends don't care what I do.
And she's MSD sized so it's easier.
My city collage teachers know me and thought it was funny...I'm the sort of person one expects to be strange.
Oh, and public potty rooms have not proven to be a problem, she just sits in my bag and hangs on the hook on the door. Although it is awkward to have a little person staring at you in this situation... >.<

    20. I never really take my dolls with me anywhere.
I don't trust bringing them around the people on my college campus, I don't like the strange looks I get from people, I'm paraniod I'll get them dirty, and really... I just don't feel the need to bring them anywhere most of the time. =/
