1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Is there anywhere you refuse to take your doll? why?

Aug 10, 2008

    1. I don't take them anywhere. I'm too terrified of something happening to them. I do think about taking my tinies for car rides sometimes. I think Sakura would enjoy that a lot ^_^

    2. Reading through other threads, it seems like things are different in other parts of the country...because yeah, I've never had a problem like that either. Particularly with dolls.

I definitely wouldn't take my boys to a restaurant. >.< Dolls and food just don't mix well. I don't even keep my boys near me when I'm eating at home! I've taken them to stores when I'm shopping for them though, and once Sage came to work with me when I was working on an outfit for him. The little guy fits in my sewing bag really nicely.

    3. I no longer take dolls out unless it is for a meet or a photoshoot. In those instances, it is less that I will not take them to certain places, it is more that I will not take certain dolls out or they rarely go out. Then, certain dolls will not go to outdoor or public place meets. Certain dolls will only go to house meets. It has not always been like this, but I feel that over the years I have learned this is what is best for my piece of mind.

    4. I don't bother dragging my dolly out with me for the most part. I'm always worried they'll get damaged or other such... plus if I don't intend on doing a photoshoot or shopping for them and using them for size checks, there's really no point. I have enough crap to drag around in my bag as is. I did bring my MSD to work a few times to sit on the desk but someone complained so I can't without keeping him in the back room or in my bag so there's really no point if I can't enjoy looking at him or fiddling with him.

    5. I don't take my dolls out much either, and when I do it's only with a group, but I will never take my dolls to work since I work in a warehouse. It's dirty, involves heavy and dangerous machinery, and it's not like I could keep her on display!

    6. I don't take my large BJD's anywhere, too afraid of breakage but I just got a tiny who I took to the park today for pictures. I will probably take her places just for photos. Sometimes when I meet up with doll friends I will take a doll so we can find each other better but never a BJD.

    7. I wouldn't take it to my relative's house because they wouldn't understand me and look at me with disapproval. But other then that, I don't mind taking them to school or out to go shopping.

    8. Any place horse/farm related... unless it's the feed store/tack shop.

    9. I wouldn't walk around with my doll alone, though if I was in a group it would be more ok. It just looks strange.
I also think Id keep her away from work, because i work at a family fun park...

    10. Agreed, I don't really take my doll anywhere. It's simply just a bit odd, though I am seriously considering bringing her along to conventions, though she might get in the way professionally while I am working.

    11. I'm only going to be taking them places if its for photoshoots, or to like, conventions.
I've kind of just wandered around with them before, and its annoying, and nerve-wracking. I don't like having to worry about them.

    12. I feel like the opposite of most people in this thread -- I like to take my dolls out just about everywhere. XD A waterpark is the first place that springs to mind as somewhere I wouldn't want to take them, and then farms, and other things of that nature.

But generally, if I'm going out, I probably wouldn't mind taking a doll or two.

      I am also 24 years of age, and definitely look it. ^^;;;

    13. As a mature woman, I think walking around with a doll is ... uh, well -- just not gonna happen. Way too weird! The only exception might be if I were wanting to show off some of the outfits I have made, but this would have to be under just the right circumstances.

    14. I don't take my doll anywhere unless she is in a bag and it is an absolute necessity. Why? Like everyone else said, my nerves can't handle it. :sweat
For example I had to take Rowen out shopping yesterday for clothes, and the whole time I was so paranoid. She was wrapped up in a scarf and in a bag, because the silk pillow would not fit in said bad, and I was so worried that, even though she was well protected, something was gonna happen to her. It was horrible... but she was alright and we got her some cute clothes in the end.
Also, I just don't think I would be confident enough to carry her around without being in a group. I always end up running into people I know from school when out, and I wouldn't want all their questions... because they would most likely be rather rude.
So I think I would only take her to cons, meet-ups and photo shoots. ^^

    15. School. No way. I would never ever take my dears to that damned place  First, people there aren't really...hmm...tolerant and even my closest friends don't know exactly what kind of hobby I always talk about it is. Second, I'm not really excited about "grabby hands" and squeeing girls who want to "take that lovely doll, 'cause they love it sooooo much" :| No way.

I would never probably take them to public, exept some calm places like park or some peopleless street where I could make some photoshoots and so on.

On the other side, I'm planning to take my IH Amy on a holiday...of course, if she'll make it to home before then...
So, I guess it just depends on person's decision.

    16. My doll has never left my room. I don't feel the need to take him with me, plus he's heavy and fragile and I'm clumsy and easily distracted, so I'm sure I'd end up breaking him or forgetting him somewhere xD

    17. I feel the same way. Mine are very valuable to me and I want to protect them. So needles to say when I am on deployment overseas on a warship (like now) I do not bring them with me. Anytime else I like having them around.

    18. Honestly, I rarely take mine anywhere. I don't get anything out of carrying them around...they aren't companions to me, they're just dead weight. I would carry them if I intended to show them or photograph them, but not just to have them. I actually felt a bit weird carrying Lane around Hobby Lobby today. (I was shopping for a stand for him :)) I'm content to enjoy them only at home.

    19. i think there's no such a place.. maybe some crowded places.. but if i don't want my doll to be touched i just say it and nobody does it. and i'm not ashamed by holding a DOLL in public places, despite the fact that people usually look at me suspiciously :P i like when my strange hobby goad an interest among people ;)

    20. My doll stays at home. She like never leaves the house. I did take her to a doll shop once to look for a stand and furniture. But when I got and visit my foreign exchange student in France this summer I plan to take my doll because she also has dolls. Although she has SDs and Pullips and I just have my MSD. Oh well it will work out. Still I am worried about transporting her, she is going to stay in my carry on but still I worry, like any mother would. ;)
