1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Is there anywhere you refuse to take your doll? why?

Aug 10, 2008

    1. I would never take them with me to scout camp D8;;

    2. The only time I would take them out would be at a convention or meet, or if I was going to a friend's house or something, and maybe on vacation.... maybe...

    3. tannie: i love your dolls blue hair!

and wolfclaw im 17 too! >.<

    4. ^(in response) Awwe, but that's half the fun!
Of course, I have the "baby face" thing going on, so I tend to look a looot younger if my hair is out of my eyes :D
Right now, for instance, I look like a 12-year-old boy with a mohawk and makeup!
      YAY ANDROGYNOUS CLOTHING.

Anyways. I always love the questions~It's just another thing to set me apart from the crowd! (As if my 1ft multi-colored mohawk wasn't enough XD)

    5. I've taken Proto-Elphaba (green-skinned, no-faceup, eyeless 60cm femme) into JoAnn's Fabrics, and a Chili's restaurant... Nobody found the fact I was hauling a doll around JoAnn's to be strange, nor the fact she had no eyes or that I had taken her wig off, but I did find myself having to explain repeatedly why she was green. To avoid the reaction in Chili's, I put her in her box, but the lady who showed me to my table said, "Okay, I'm curious, what's in the box?" and I showed her. She laughed and said she thought it was probably an instrument of some kind.

...I still think she thought it was a bomb.

    6. I don't mind taking my doll anywhere really. I've taken my doll to work on occasion, since I am a web designer and my boss has heard me rant about them at least 1000 times. ^___^; I'm sure I must sound like an old record.

At school, though I no longer attend college via the campus, I would still bring him. He's my muse! And I think my crazy art teachers would have all understood (Or else rolled their eyes at me.)

I probably wouldn't take it anywhere he wasn't welcome. At one point, my friends and I went to a store where a woman has a large boa around her neck [Living] and she childishly darted away from me and my friends all around the small store. I didn't want to be associated with someone that was that ignorantly asinine, nor would I ever.

She claimed she was mortified of dolls with eyes. Honestly, I am mortified of cockroaches, but if someone had a pet roach with them in a store I certainly wouldn't make an ass out of myself by doing a presentation like that. I wouldn’t like to have that again, though I wouldn’t allow myself to be discouraged simply due to the fact there was a woman in an adult store who couldn’t conduct herself as a mature, civilized, human being.

    7. Well there are alot of places i wouldnt, I dont feel its appropriate to take ur dolls certain places unless someone there wanted to see them specifically or for a doll meetup.

    8. I'm breaking my own code and taking Loki to the seashore tomorrow.

He seems quite hellbent on getting out since he's heard about the upcoming arrivals of his new flat-mate and the new baby.

    9. I don't really like taking Sai out, but not because of embarrasment or the like... but because the zone where I live is really insecure and I'm just afraid of that D:

    10. It would be anywhere sunny. I love pale-pinky dolls and want their beautiful color to last for the longest time. =/

    11. That's really...wow. I don't understand people who can't get over themselves long enough to act like a normal person =/ Or at least to not come off as tactless!
"She claimed she was mortified of dolls with eyes."
You should have taken his eyes out :XD: I wonder what she would have done then?

And I think I'm going to take my boy on a roadtrip some time next month :) We're going to visit my sister who lives in Austin, so nobody would look at me weird if I decided to carry him around all day. :aheartbea
Oh, about yellowing. (Ahyu made me think of it) About how fast do dolls yellow? I've heard DoDs yellow pretty nicely, so I'm not very worried; I just don't want to be too surprised if I take Mystic out and about for one day and I come home and find he's a completely different color!

    12. Everything this poster said is what i was thinking. *.*

    13. No Mystic! You can't pull a MJ! You can't! :...(

Anway, I find dolls without eyes terrifying.

    14. Places that I won't take my dolls to:

Camping trips - what's the point really?

Amusement parks - I might lose them. And if I take them with me during a rollercoaster ride, they'd probably fall off. O_O

Child Daycare - sticky-handed, rough, mean, rude, children + BJDs = disasters

Around dogs - dogs might think my dolls are nice resin chew toys.

Out in the city and walking around downtown sidewalks - the potential of a homeless person, druggie, and/or crazies, and/or rude/mean people deliberately running into you and taking your doll and damaging it is way too high.

The mall - just too risky because there's always a mix of rude people, naughty children, bored teens who would most likely be all grabby-handed = damaging dolls. Plus, I'd like to concentrate on shopping instead of trying to protect my doll.

Church - believe me, some people think that dolls are the work of the devil. Or you're committing the act of Idolatry.

Where I would be comfortable taking my dolls to:

My workplace - I have my own office and my co-workers know about my hobby and don't think that I'm weird or crazy. They appreciate it when I bring one of my dolls in and are very gentle when handling them.

My sister's apartment - she likes my dolls.

      Museums - especially a doll museum! :D

    15. I would really hate taking my doll out of the house, it's kind of a bother when I think about doing it. Like "what's the point, she's safer inside the house". Personally, I would not want the doll with me unless I had the intention of using her for a photoshoot or something... I'd have nothing to do with her.... am I making sense? lol But I love my doll! I also think that confidence is the number one way to go with public dolly outings.

    16. Hmm, I think restaurants mostly. I've brought them to some before, while at conventions...and it's always very awkward finding places to put them while you eat, especially if you're in a large group.
Not to mention all the stuff you could spill on them D:

    17. Honestly, I'd carry mine anywhere. Unless it was truly dangerous (like across a rikety bridge.. )

But even if I'm 47 or 75 and wrinkley. My dolls will go with me, wherever I go. I won't be embarassed, being a however old person carrying a doll. Hell. I'm 16 and my boyfriend knows that when we go on a date my dolls come too. I think people are too obsessed with how people see them.

    18. i agree, ive been thinking about how embarassed people seem to be of being seen carrying dolls or getting funny looks and it makes me wonder

would people prefure to have a one of a kind doll that no ones ever seen anything like? are the stares worth it to them?

or would people be happier if EVERYONE either had a BJD or knew someone who did?

    19. To a concert...no matter what sort of concert it was. There are just to many people going around acting weird half the time and having something that fragile and what not wouldn't be a good thing to have because almost anything could happen.

    20. It's true! Sometimes I feel like grabing his hand and giving him manicure! But, maybe that's just me, and my excessive hate of dirt under finger nails. D: At least I only see him when I'm visiting my sister, and she thinks that BJDs are creepy, so I don't think he'll get a chance to meet my new dollie.

I hope I get to have one next year, but I seriously doubt it'll happen. D: It's not like you can really grow out of teddies, just like dolls. :] No matter how old you get, you'll still love them.
