1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Is your collection complete?

Jun 9, 2015

    1. This is me lol. I am coming close to being complete. I need 2 more dolls and one is currently on layaway right now for the current cast of my story to be complete. But I don't feel like I will be complete because I will always be developing their characters and buying clothes and working on making them fit the character more.

    2. I've been in the hobby since this past summer and currently have five full dolls (one is away getting a faceup), two heads that need to be sent for faceups and also need bodies, and on the way are two blank full dolls (one of which will probably become a floating head when I take its body away for one of the other dolls), plus a floating head I'm not sure about yet.

I don't have any OCs I need to shell. That's not what it's about for me.

My favorites are the MNF Chloe and NF14 in my avatar, and they have the barest of a backstory. I just love them--from the moment I saw those two sculpts I just HAD to have them--love at first sight, very intense, these are keepers.

The others I find beautiful, the way I find art glass and certain kinds of porcelain beautiful. I'm so happy to have them, but if I needed money I could make myself sell them and then possibly reaquire them later if I felt the urge.

I don't have plans to buy any more right now, after the ones I've mentioned are home and have their faceups, hair and eyes, and clothing that suits them. But I don't rule out getting others in the future.

    3. Unless I suddenly win the lotto and can actually afford my Iple grail doll and the 3 Dollmore 16" fashion BJD's I'm still kind of stuck on probably. I have all the sculpts I really wanted save those I just mentioned and those are out of my range really. All my girls and boys that I want to have bodies do. I've even reconciled myself to keeping and using my 2 Miro MSD's as I've finally figured out what characters work for them. At this point there is nothing left to get. It's time to face them up and make outfits....

    4. never be complete ;)
but I had to consider price and canadian dollars rate vs amerian dollars rate
so I will try to stop here unless I sell a doll
(crush my fingers to be sucessfull lol)

    5. I'm blaming this thread for reminding me I'd love to have a MNF Rheia. :abambi:

    6. Although I currently only have one doll, with the second on the way, I'm looking towards the future. I have a rough idea of what my collection will look like, maybe I'll stop around 15 dolls if it even gets that high, which it probably will! I probably shouldn't be posting here seeing as my collection has only just gotten started.

    7. When I started in this hobby, I was like a lot of people- I was 'only going to get one'. Well, I'm 26 dolls in with a several on the way so, clearly, that plan didn't pan out! However, I feel like my collection is approaching completion as far as characters I want to shell. I've been working more on upgrading bodies and buying nice outfits. Also, logistically, I'm running out of places to put the resin!

    8. I have Ro and Berwyn and have decided that Ro is enough, size wize. I was originally going to populate the school she teaches at with other minis for students and teachers, but I just don't have the room. Plus, all of the sculpts I love are tinies, which is much easier on my storage space!

    9. My collection will never be complete. After 10 years in this hobby I have learned that my tastes evolve with time, there will always be new things released that I will want, but I have limited space and capacity for doll enjoyment.
So dolls come, and most eventually go.
I don't base them on characters I'm writing, I do imagine them to have certain personalities or traits but it's not a concrete thing so I don't feel bad selling one I'm not completely smitten with anymore to bring home a new one that I fancy.
I do currently feel that I have a few more than I would ideally like to have but I can't imagine parting with any more of them. I am however sick of buying dolls. No more for a long time. I need clothes and shoes!

    10. I definitely aim to eventually have a 'complete' collection and reach an end point, especially when it comes to actually owning all the dolls in my plans and making sure they're all presentable with at least one fullset (wigs, eyes, shoes, clothes, faceup). I thoroughly dislike the stress and drama of waiting for this limited to come out or hoping for that perfect sculpt to be released, or that general feeling of waiting aimlessly for the 'family' to finally be together. I don't like the process of buying and selling either, and I'm not interested in seeing every pretty new sculpt and company and wanting whatever's latest. One of the main criteria I had for my collection was that they it be as versatile and flexible as possible so that I could do a lot with customizing.

I planned my collection out before buying my first doll, and though there's been tweaks and doubt through the years collecting since then, it's stayed relatively intact for 6 years. I got so lucky this year and managed to get 3 of the dolls from that list after only having the 2 for so long. I only have one left to go in my original plans, and I may manage to get that come January. I'm dying for my collection to be done!! I hope so bad that I can buy that last one with January!

For potential additions, there are three other possibilities I'm considering, but one doll is very different from the rest of my collection and the other two technically don't exist yet; I like the company's bodies, but not the face sculpts released yet. I don't believe I'll get any of these dolls for at least another year, if not more, and they're not strictly necessary. I won't get that same anxious feeling thinking about when or how I'll get them!

Once all my dolls have a 'basics' as well I'll consider the DOLL collection pretty 'complete'. I consider basics to be at least: 2 urethane eyes, 2 wigs, faceup, 2 full HQ outfits, and 2 shoes. I hope I achieve this by the time I return to America from South Korea, in 2017!

But then, for each individual doll, it's like there's whole new mini-collections that will truly never be finished. The clothes, the wigs, accessories. Those are the funnest parts of the hobby for me, and I like to spoil my dolls to the point where it's like I'm shopping for a person's wardrobe! So I don't think I'd ever be at a point where I'm just done shopping or getting anything new for my dolls at all.

    11. My collection will never be complete as long as companies keep releasing dolls and I keep falling in love with one or ten of them.

    12. It's hard to decide when my collection would be complete. There are so many Bjd out there that I find myself wanting more. And then I always think about completing outfits and looks before I can really claim my bjd is really done.

    13. My collection is definitely not complete yet. I want a variety of faces and styles and I think that will take a while to complete.

    14. Like several people, I thought I would get only one. Then, it became obvious that it needed company and with so many temptations around I was unable to resist. Right now, I delude myself with the thought that this specific Iplehouse I am longing for will be the last one but....

    15. I hope I don't fall into temptation like some of you. :) I must only buy one. Just one and I'm done. I will spoil her with many things and be satisfied... At least I hope so. :{

    16. I thought I would complete my collection after having Michele Kaelin and Williams. But after getting two of them, I know that won't be enough for me :( I always want new members and new sizes. I'm planning to get a MSD after finishing my SD collection:kitty1

    17. No, and I wouldn't exactly call it a collection haha :sweat right now I have only one doll. She is the embodiment of my female OC and I am looking for a male doll for my male OC character.
