1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

?
  1. Yes - he/she is based on a character from a movie, book, anime, etc.

  2. Yes - he/she is based off of an existing RP/story character

    1. All of my dolls are based on my roleplaying characters (and are also the reason my queue gets larger by the day, as my roleplaying universe is constantly expanding. @_@) Ever since I was little I had wanted to have dolls of the characters I created, but never had a means to do it before discovering obitsus and BJDs. My random floating head may eventually end up being based on an anime character, however....

    2. I have both in my family- characters that are completely unique and didn't even exist before I got the dolls (Mikos, my El, for example) and dolls that are loosely (or not so loosely) based off pre-existing characters- mainly computer game characters. They're hard to spot, but I have dolls based on the Prince of Persia games and Legacy of Kain games! ;)

    3. I am getting a doll for my oldest and favorite rping character who is a sort of a tribute to some one else (long story that logically wouldn't make sense anyhow)

My second one admittedly will be fan service from my favorite character from a book series these two will fully satisfy my lust for the hobby hopefully

    4. @ light_hearted - I like how you tag "hopefully" on the end of that sentence. ;)

I just buy dolls that I like and let them tell me who they are, if they ever choose to do so...

      Phil.

    5. Nope, I always create character that go with the doll rarther than buying a doll to fit the character.

When I decide on them I get an idea for their 'base idea' of their character, and build on that when they arive and I am actualy interacting with them.
I don't do this to a huge scale though, no long backstories.

    6. Though my doll Light is called Light, he isn't the slightest like Light Yagami from Deathnote. It's just his name which I basicly think rocks :)

My incoming doll Sean, his personality is inspired by Erik Ponti's ('Ondskan', 'Evil'). I just think his character is so special.

    7. Aside from my first boy, who came to me as a surprise, all the dolls I plan on getting are based on characters.

However, they are characters from the Castlevania series, not ones of my own make ''orz
Whether they adapt into the character's personallity or not is another story entirely =w=

    8. I answered this back in 2006, but now four years on I've had my own original cast of pre-existing characters expand pretty dramatically in resin form, and recently I've also managed something I didn't know if I'd ever be able to achieve: I've been able to bring home my own version of Zack Fair from FFVII (pretty exicted about that really!) It's nice to be able to have a mix of my own characters I've had for the past fifteen years and dolls dedicated to favourite characters who aren't mine as well. Definitely the best of both worlds there :)

    9. Haha how to answer... one is and one isn't- their characters evolve around their dolls. >x<

    10. i dont know.. i first thought of iku when i saw ninian from fire emblem, because they look almost the same! they have the same hair color and iku has one red eye, but unlike ninian, she also has one blue eye. though they look alike, they act nothing alike. ninian is kind and shy, while iku is really hyper and loves hurting people who are taller then her. her personality is like taiga's from toradora, now that i think about it ^^

But i thought of soori all by myself!! he is his own character, theres no one quite like him ^w^
he used to be into drugs and alchol, but his father was a preist and wouldnt take that from his soon. he was on his way to go pick up soori from a bar, when someone shoot and killed him. when soori found out, he was devisated and promised never to go back.
He dad also in his spare time studied demons and angels, so soori picked up where he left off.
thats where he grouped the gumi mercenaries, a group of strange creature called series, came to protect half angels like iku.

yeah. so there kinda like my favorite charaters welded in one being, but still, they do there own thing and there unquie in there own ways ^_________^

    11. All of my dolls have their own characters. The only thing that is Anime inspired is their form or style. I do have dolls who cosplay other characters at Anime Conventions though. My Ryu loves to cosplay Kadaj and my Aillil makes a very decent Mr. Spock.

    12. Most of my dolls are based off of D&D characters from several campaigns I'm in. A few are random characters, some children of the D&D characters, some have become characters in other universes (like my Soom hoovlings).

    13. My first and current? Somewhat, sorta a general 'idea of a character' I've had with me for as long as I can remember if that makes sense.

But my next doll I'm after? Yes, definatally. I'm going to base him off a D&D character I have named Varaja, although I fear I've going to have quite a bit of trouble making him as i'm gonna have to do quite a bit a modding. You see, he has four arms and extensive scaring and body tattoos and I will not be happy if the doll version of him does not have all that!

Cause, you know, why try and do something easy amirite? [IMG]

    14. I'd love to have a series of dolls based off the main cast of Final Fantasy VII.

    15. She actually evolved INTO a character, rather from one. She started out just as the doll I fell in love with, but in my waiting for her, I developed a story and world around her. Now all sculpt choices for other dolls are dependent on the world that revolves around her. Quite funny really.

    16. The majority of my dolls are the physical representations of character I have made, some of them in my own books, others just characters I've had in my head.

Then there are other times where I see a head mold and go all 'O.O' on them XD Those develop on their own, haha. And they constantly change, even the preexisting characters. They all have their own distinct personalities.

    17. I never base mine on characters.

    18. My doll (singular because I only have one right now) is based off a story I wrote. I plan to get two more dolls, also based on characters from the same story.

    19. When I was still in school I had this awesome, awesome RP with a friend. We really created a whole world and I think each of us had about 50 fully developed characters in the end (we'd played for several years, obviously).

I would absolutely love to turn a few of these characters into BJDs but I don't think it'd work out since practically everyone of them has certain friends or family members or significant others they need to trully BE the character. Those were mostly played by my friend though since we always needed an opposite for a new character and I'd never 'steal' one of her chars for my dolls just so the story works again.
So that's probably never gonna happen.

I'm very happy with my other boys though who are based on characters from other stories by me.

    20. I always base mine on my characters. I quickly found with the first one I bought that I needed to write him into one of my stories in order for me to bonde with him properly. Since then I have only bought dolls for them to representations of my ocs.
