1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Is your doll based off an existing chara?

Mar 27, 2006

?
  1. Yes - he/she is based on a character from a movie, book, anime, etc.

  2. Yes - he/she is based off of an existing RP/story character

  3. No - he/she has their own personality, looks, etc.

  4. Both - I have some dolls based on existing characters and some not.

Multiple votes are allowed.
Results are only viewable after voting.
    1. Yes, Howe, Pada, Kazuya Aichi (Tiffany will more then likely help me make up something for him.) and several others are of my creation on RP sites. ^^ I just kinda chose what model to base their looks based off of. (Can't wait for Kazuya and Pada to be made and brought home)

    2. I voted both. My first, Citlali Xochipilli is named after a rp character I've had for years and I use often in different rpgs, but her personality is quite different. I just like the name and what it represents so much, I had to give it to her. My second, Ngozi is not based on any character. When I saw her, she simply came into being and had to find a name that suited her. My third girl, Ollรญnwyl is a little more complicated to explain. I was creating a shape shifting sorceress character with a deep back story for a new game. I liked the character so much that I created a doll version of her with some help from hubby :).

    3. My first doll and all the dolls I'm staging are based off of RPG characters of mine.
Adrian is actually a Halo OC.

    4. My dolls have to be based on my characters, or else I'd be spending waaay to much monies on every pretty doll I stumbled upon. And then I might not bond with them the way I should.

Sanyu is based off of a BLEACH RPG character of mine.
Gael is from the same RPG. (I don't have her yet.)
Delaney (who I'm going to save up for after Gael and a Sewing Machine) is a RPG/Story character.
Belladonna (who will be pretty much Delaney's sleeping head...oO) is from my version of Snow White.

    5. mine is sort of i got the idea from ian from fairy cube, so my doll's story is that he can see fairies nd he is the same age as the character but he is really diffrent other wise

    6. Besides my various fandolls in the planning stage (oh, Inuyasha, I love you so), Shimy is a version of my GaiaOnline persona, and Philomena is actually a GaiaOnline B/C pet of mine (I plan to get bjd of all my Hytech "kids").

Very occasionally I'll buy first and attempt to figure out the character later, but that usually doesn't end well... :sweat

    7. All four of my unborn children (Yay for planned parenthood! XD) will be based off original characters. All from the same story, in fact. Three are musicians and one is a super model.

o_O There may even be a fifth child now that I think on it... Oh my mom's going to kill me. XD

    8. I have two dolls.

One has a very definite basing off of a story character of mine. While I've long dropped the story, I still very much love the character, and decided to get a Mei for it.

The other, I just kinda got her and let her make her own personality. :3

    9. While I have plans for both Original Character and Cosplay dolls (such as my DC heroes)

My first boy Shin has taken a life of his own, he was intended to be this pre-made OC of mine, but while he was waiting for me to get the right wig, and the correct outfit, he just took on a life of his own. And really, I just can't change him now.

    10. Nope. First I bought the doll, and then I started creating the character.

    11. Both of mine are based off of characters from my stories. I don't think I'd ever get a doll that didn't fit in to one of my numerous stories.... just for the sake of having the doll, though Michael was a little bit like that because he switched from being the main character of one story, to another... Which has many WEIRD coincidences, but that's a different story altogether. =3

Most of my planned dolls are from my stories (though there are 'tribute characters' - i.e. characters having resemblance to already existing well-known characters whom I found awesome). It's fun, finding molds to fit the character. And it controls the spending, since I'm very picky.

    12. My incoming Soony is the dolly version of a character that I've had with me for a couple of years.

Kazuma, my bory, was based off of a character of mine..but then he started to grow and reject the predetermined personality. The only thing that's the same is his name...oh and the fact that he loves pandas. Pfft.
My puki was supposed to be Super Junior's Eeteuk..but uh..when he got here..he obviously didn't want to be..so he became Kazuma's brother.
My Ethan...he doesn't even know what he wants to be. Originally he was going to be one of my twin characters but that didn't work out. Now he's currently a host named Fragrance. (We'll see how long that'll last)

    13. Both my dolls are based off characters. One is a character from a book I'm writing and the other is based off Marvel's X-Men Gambit (Remy LeBeau). I don't know if I'd ever have a doll that wasn't trying to "bring to life" a character I love either from my own mind or someone else's.

    14. Mine are not based on known characters but there aren't based on characters at all ! they have name juste to name theme easilly on forums but they changed their look and eyes and they don't have any "story" .. :sweat

    15. Oliver and Valadhiel are characthers of mine (well, they have sort of a story that I haven't actually written down and was developed while I was waiting for them to arrive), while I customized my Crobidoll Thor girl as Souseiseki from Rozen Maiden :)

    16. Nope :) I got my doll just because I thought she was beautiful. Her character is now slowly revealing itself :3

    17. It's varied for my dolls. I get alot of inspiration for their characters but they aren't solely based off of anyone.

Koby + SIX: Their personalities are similar to those of Raistlin and Caramon Majere from the Dragonlance series. I didn't originally want twin dolls but by adding so much more to their personalities and looks I'm pleased with how they came out.

Father Vanyel: Though the name originates from an existing character in literature, Vanyel is more of a hybrid from my view on some religious fanatics and an rp character I once had. I'm supposed to dislike his character but his mold makes it difficult :B

Phoenix Nine: This character was first inspired by a peice of artwork involving a human representing the phoenix and the owl with the hidden library in the Avatar series.

Kasimir: G from Gestalt is similar to Kasimir [the religious aspect also plays a part with Father Vanyel].

Hazel: I have a thing for strategists and after playing DW and reading The Three Kingdoms I wanted a doll to portray one. Hazel is fashioned after Sima Yi and Zhou Yu.

    18. Well, I voted no but I am down for the vampire Spike and vampire Willow from Buffy, so they will probably end up being Spike and Willow as a couple.

Right now though, they are all original.

    19. i have no dolls yet, but i don't really plan them to be. although, some may end up that way. i'm waiting for my sky to come, so i can get a feel for his personality, because i have a few characters that i think he could fit. i don't plan on him being an exsisting character though.
