1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Is Your Doll Better Dressed Than You?

Feb 19, 2017

    1. About the same.

Most of the time my dolls wear pretty casual clothes that I make for them, and it's in a similar style to what I would actually wear on a day to day basis. I would have to say that their shoes cost way more then my shoes cost. My Uncles are by far the best dressed as I spend money to clothe them, and until I get better at sewing suits and such I have to spend money for the costumes that I want them in. They do have regular clothes that I made them as well.

    2. My doll wardrobe will soon dwarf mine, but I like how I dress. Though I wonder how many people dress in a radically different style than their dolls.

    3. 100% they dress better than me.

Men in suits and women in frothy dresses and high heels, or period costumes. I don't have the space--or will--to attempt expansive and complex wardrobes for myself, but I love seeing dolls in formal wear and costume-y stuff.

    4. Not yet, but that's definitely what I'm aiming for! For me, the appeal of doll clothes is that they don't have to withstand the wear and tear of normal life. I could probably save up and buy, or sew myself, the kinds of clothes I have in mind for my dolls... but then I'd have to wash them, keep them away from my cat, avoid spilling spaghetti sauce on them... And that's a lot more effort than I'm willing to put into my appearance!! :XD:

Probably most people who have historically-inspired dolls don't dress like that in daily life ;)
I agree it would be fun to see the numbers, though! Maybe a poll is in order...

    5. A lot of the time, yes :) I'm sometimes wearing casual clothing, but my girls only have beautiful dresses :aheartbea

    6. Yes. As you can see from Rei's blog.
I'm a minimalist. She, on the other hand, loves stylish clothes and everything cute!

    7. Nope, as most of my dolls are naked :XD: I just have a lot of dolls that don't exactly need clothes. Those that do wear clothes are better dressed than I am, though.

    8. Yes, very much so. My dolls are dressed the way I would love to dress if I could - all with a fantasy, steampunk and/or historic influence.

    9. That's true  but I mean something like Victorian doll, techwear user

    10. For now, my dolls don't have much clothes, as i just came back in the hobby few months ago. But it's soon to change seeing how much i spent for them these past weeks xD

    11. Not at all. Half of their clothes are made out of my or my sister's old clothes.
