Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Is Your Doll Better Dressed Than You?

Feb 19, 2017

    1. I've had a hard time with buying clothes for my doll because in my mind im always thinking "this costs as much/more than clothes i would buy for myself.....why am i not buying clothes for myself instead?" but then i remember that I wear a work uniform almost every day so i dont really need a lot of clothes lol

    2. No way! We're going to look cute together. :XD: I love fashion, and I make a ritual out of getting ready. Naturally that ends up being passed along to my dolls as well. My next girl isn't even here yet and I'm already trying to coordinate our wardrobes. I even bought her an adorable tiny purse key chain from Kate Spade so we could have matching purses. I think I'm slowly making my way into crazy doll lady territory here. Totally embracing it.

    3. Not really? I am a human, and I sweat and get dirty, and also I get hot, or I get cold, or I want to look a certain way one day, or I just care about comfort the next. I would never call myself a clotheshorse, but I do have nice clothes for a variety of occasions. Most of my dolls just get like one really decent outfit and don't change out of it.

    4. My dolls are definitely dressed better than me! Where as I go for comfort my dolls can wear all the things I wish I could~

    5. My dolls and I dress the same: scrounged, hand-me-downed and On Sale. I kinda pride myself on finding them full, adorable, outfits from miscellaneous and mismatched clothes I pick up at stores and so on.

    6. No, my dolls don't dress better than me...but that's because a) I make their clothes and I'm still learning, and b) I dress pretty darn well, if I do say so myself! Hopefully being good at finding cute clothes will translate into making cute clothes, too.

    7. Oh, yes, they dress better than I do. I live in jeans and tees (yeah for retirement!), they wear great stuff for all occasions.

    8. Some of my dolls are dress really well. Their style is far superior to my own. Then, others I've had a more difficult time narrowing down a look. So they don't exactly dress better than me, but they have a lot of clothes. I would eventually like all my doll kids to have a fantastic wardrobe!

    9. Oh yes, they are! As for myself I hate buying clothes for me, but I love to buy for my dolls. Some outfits for them are really expensive, I'd never spent so much money for myself.

    10. My doll is dressed about the same as me actually. I guess I pick the same sort of styles out for her as I like for myself. Which is kind of weird I guess? I wasn't doing it intentionally. :XD:

    11. I'm a fat little toad, so even if my dolls wore a burlap sack, they'd look 100% better than me, lol.

That and, I find it much easier to spend more money on clothes for my dolls because they won't wear them out or outgrow them!

    12. Why, yes, some of them. I'm a seamstress, and my dolls don't change shape LOL I've got characters that require couture fashion - made a Chanel-type suit for one. I've got Freedom Teller suits for a couple boys & have hand-tailored some for others. The shoes - well! Plus, I've done lots of cosplay for them.
I have a large wardrobe of my own, and always have - I make many of my own clothes & am a cosplayer myself. So I've got some very nice things. But if I were to buy or even make some of the things my dolls have I'd not be able to afford the dolls LOL

    13. Definitely yes here! I seem to be constantly shopping for one doll or another, and the price seems to be going up, as I find more artists that make exquisite items.
I am trying to downsize a little, but end up buying more...i have just resigned myself to my monthly dolly clothing allowance now....

    14. Sweatpants, leggings, and sweaters are my life so naturally my dolls wear things that are way out of my own comfort zone. They have so much more accessories than I do too so I guess theyre pretty spoiled haha

    15. Just spent quite a bit of money on my doll's clothes, it hurts :( But yeah, he's better dressed than me now lol

    16. I feel better about spending money on my dolls clothes and shoes because they won't wear them out, or have their bodies change to make clothing no longer fit. Also they look better then me in the styles I pick for them. So although I am trying to keep how much I buy down, I won't skip on quality.

    17. I would say that they dress better than me. This is because I would make them wear outfits or designs that I desire to wear and will never have the courage to wear in real life ( unless I'm going for a cosplay event ).:)

    18. My clothes are old (by choice); my bjd clothes are new. But you've all given me a crazy idea! Suddenly, I want my bjds to have worn, scuffed jeans and ragged hoodies! Realistically aged, not the deliberate distressing. I love all the new ideas you all generate!

    19. My dolls have cute leather shoes...more expensive than mine! LOL

    20. yes they did hahahah, i wear just a simple tshirt with long pants hahaha, they wear like denim jacket, nice shoes, ripped jeans hahaha
