Is your doll part of an elaborate "world"?

May 30, 2009

    1. All of my dolls are set in a Gothic Gory Circus type place except one who is a farm fiction character. :) they are clowns and ringmasters and really weird things. It's quite dark, I mean there are cannibals and murderers and stuff. But it's very elaborate and fancy too :)

    2. Yup mine are, though I only have one and one to arrive in a few days. To be super simple, the "world" thus far is a super secret whore house run out of a strip club that caters to the powerful, or at the very least, the super rich. ^_^ Let your imagination go with that possibilities of that one. It wasn't something I really had planned, it just sort of ended up that way. My first doll came across very, very strongly personality wise and that is what sprang to mind. My other dolls will change the story too im sure; Winter, my newest doll who should be here any day now, has already done so as the tension in the ficional world in my head, between Vin, my current doll and the new arrivals developing character is quite high. The character of my dolls is all stored in my head in this world and I just pose their bodies in the real world to reflect what is going on with them inside my mind. That is why Vin is in a perpetual sulking position at the moment and refuses to cuddle with me, because he is mad at me for adding Winter. *sigh* I need help... ^_^

    3. I wouldn't really call it 'elaborate', but yes, my future dolls at least have a foundation story-line. It's still a work in progress, as I don't actually own any dolls yet, but it's getting there. :sweat

    4. Yes. XD That's the short form. Longer form: Yes, the future ones will be too, but they're all part of separate stories within the same universe.

    5. My dolls are all based off characters in a novel I am currently writing. They all are placed in an AU that is post-apocolyptic, they have background stories, relationships, abilities, etc. The dolls really help bring everything to life and for me it helps to give the dolls more depth then just having them sit there with a name and look pretty.

    6. Oh yes!

My dolls have their own world that I created. It's mostly inspired by manga, video games or even movies I like. I had the general outlines planned before getting my first doll, but sometimes things happen and the story goes into a direction I hadn't anticipated.

To make it short it's yet another angel story but with a twist. It is constantly evolving to accomodate either new dolls, new elements, relationship and so on.

I'm a rather creative person (I'm a fanfic writer and a fanartist) so this is yet another excuse to indulge myself. ;)

    7. I have a story in my head for my dolls before they even get here...but who knows, maybe once I see them that will change! I like to make stories up and roleplay though so the answer will probably always be yes. I love seeing the creativity and characters people in this community give their dolls.

    8. My MSD girl Rachel has little to no real background. So no with her.
The SD girl that I'm working on at the moment, however, is a BJD rendition of one of my roleplay characters from a White Wolf, World of Darkness game. She has a very detailed background in comparison to Rachel.

    9. Yep, all of my dolls are characters in a novel I'm writing. Although some of the characters changed between one I began first, and the one I'm currently working on now. I got into the dolls specifically for this reason actually. I really do need a visual reference, and the dolls help- besides it's fun to work out everyone's clothing, personality et all.

    10. I share crimson.nyxe's point of view, how my inner world and the characters which populate it can be manifested through my dolls. The realm (or as I call it, 'university town') they live in is rather complicated to say the least, since it's imaginary, and does not correspond to any specific area in the world but rather a heterogeneous mixture of a plethora of cultures, time-periods and architectural influences (I'm an avid fan of ancient, imposing buildings) but I especially draw inspiration from historical Russian and English architecture, and certain aspects in various anime worlds. It's a preconceived structure from the very beginning; though it changes subtly and gradually as I see fit, mostly my characters come first before deciding which doll sculpt matches what I have in mind.

    11. When I figured out I was going to get dolls & do photostories I wrote the background for a bunch of characters (like I do when starting a novel) - gave them a town & families, etc. So yes, I've a world for my dolls :D

    12. they are part of an elaborate collection of toys~

    13. Yes. The characters were based off the dolls moulds and then developed and the world has now more characters paired with dolls that I plan to get.

This helps me to refrain from buying and falling in love with a ton of dolls. Or so I tell myself xD
I have my characters and they are all I need. Me and my sister will have a total of five dolls. I'll have two and she three, and now we don't want any more.

    14. Yes they are. I didn't start coming up with it until I got my 2ed doll. Its called Another Wonderland, almost like Alice in wonderland but a lot different.

    15. My dolls will be. :D I'm currently doing a layaway right now for my first BJD, but the characters I've made are from a story I'm writing. Oliver Gregson (Dikadoll AAAAA boy) will have an older brother named Samson, who seems to hate Oliver for a reason yet unknown. (Not to me though ;)

Their father's name will be George Gregson, their biological mother's is Luna Gregson, and their step-mother's name is Samantha Gregson. Luna died about four years ago under reasons that are kept secret. George and Samantha have a child together named Riley Gegson.

But, yes, my dolls will be in a big, story driven world. ;)

    16. yes. each of my dolls more than just a character has a complete story of their own that i carefully elaborated, some of them are even connected with the characters and story of a friend in the hobby :)

    17. Mine are all connected in the same universe, though that universe is just the normal world. I enjoy urban fantasy, so most of my dolls are supernatural creatures living in cities, etc. Not all my dolls know each other, but there is always someone in the group that is aware of the other group, etc. I have so many now that it's hard to have really detailed backgrounds for each of them, though they all do have some sort of backstory, no matter how basic.

    18. My dolls and future dolls are part of the same world. It's not really elaborate, more like something for their background. It would be nice to have other dolls owned by different people to be part of the same world. I tend to focus on my characters and their relationships with each other ahead of the story. I think it's a lot of fun. :)

    19. as of right now no, they represent certain parts of me.:aheartbea

    20. yes all of my characters belgon to a story not the same but still they have a world of there own
