1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Island Doll Tinies

Sep 23, 2009

    1. I believe all ID dolls can be ordered nude as well as fullset, so you should be fine! I e-mailed them to ask a few things once and they said that if I wasn't sure whether I ordered everything correctly through their website, I could also e-mail my order. So you could always try that!

    2. Ahhh thanks a lot, Wennie! It's good to know I could also order per e-mail because I find their site a little confusing^^

    3. That's what I thought too, but their responses were quick and very helpful. This was a while ago though, so I don't know if anything has changed since then...

    4. Here's a new picture of Saghir for the quiet thread! ^_^

    5. What an adorable little guy!!! <3

    6. I love that, He is very cute! I need to get some fresh pictures of my Isa for the thread.

    7. Yay! We're starting this thread up again!
Here's some more cookie love, my Rory. She finally has her wig back too :aheartbea

    8. She's so cute and I love that wig on her!

    9. I'm thinking about getting Emily as my first doll. Do they pose well compared to other dolls? I tried to find some reviews, but couldn't find any. :(

    10. :D thanks Wennie!
laineedarkhart, they don't pose quite as magnificently as a Littlefee would, but I can't really complain about their posing. They stand solidly (better than a Soom Tennie Gem), her hands can touch her face, her torso joint is amazing. I'll take some pictures and upload them quickly for you.
The only thing you need to be mindful of is that they are French Resin. This makes her knees and hips (in particular) slippery so they could use kips disks or sueding. Also quicker to yellow, but a yellow doll isn't the end of the world.

    11. Polkaroo, Thank you so much! I still have a lot to learn about dolls.. I have no idea what kip disks or sueding are.. I've heard people talking about doing that to their dolls, but I've never seen what it was lol XD I don't really mind yellowing. ^^

    12. You're welcome laineedarkhart! It wasn't so long ago I was new to this.

this is an example of pliver sueding. Pliver is really thin leather. People also use hot glue. Kips disks are little rubber donuts. They all serve the same purpose, helping poses stick.

      This
is the posing I just did quickly. It's amazing what these dolls can actually do.

    13. Kip disks are small little plastic disks that are fitted between the joints. They sorta look like a O. Most people just do hot glue sueding. All my guys are done this way. You take hot glue from a low temp glue gun and put a thin layer of it in the joints so that there's some friction between the pieces. It helps with posing a lot. The hot glue though does tend to wear down and get dirty, expecially if you're guys were dark clothing a lot, so it has to be replaced occasionally.

I think I may invest in some kips for my dolls eventually just to compair them both. I like the idea of the kips but wonder how they compair to the hot glue method.

You can find out a lot about the basic here at DoA if you browse around a bit. Island Dolls I find are the understated bunch in the BJD tinies. They're double jointed which is awesome and such an affordable price. I currently have two, Saghir is a Kevin and another Kohane that is a Jessie.

Also keep in mind that if you're changing out pieces for their hands or feet, like the paws that Saghir currently is wearing, that their S-hooks are not the typical size for most Yosd's. Island Dolls have a smaller hole in their wrists and as such fat S-hooks won't fit. I had to special order a pair from Island Doll specifically so that I could attach Saghir's paws. The hooks that were on the hands he came with can't be taken off so I couldn't reuse them for the paws.

    14. Polkaroo- Thank you for the pictures it really helps! She poses really well, I'm even more convinced to buy her now. ^^
      Sirius53Black- Thank you for the info! It's really helpful! I noticed it was pretty hard to find videos or reviews on these guys. ^^;

    15. I've used both kips and hot glue sueding. Though kips are very easy to put in, they tend to get 'eaten' by the joints. I've now decided to remove them even from my AS dolls, which come with kips already inserted. Especially on the IslandDoll knees and elbows I think they benefit best from hot glue sueding. It really isn't difficult to do. Both my girls stand like rocks now. And I agree about ID being undervalued, they are such great sculpts! They do yellow quite a lot, but yeah, it's not the end of the world. And it doesn't make their faces any less cute ;)

Edit: if you like I could do a body review vid on YouTube, just let me know!

    16. Wennie- I would love to see a body review! :)
