Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Jointed hands vs Regular hands?

Oct 9, 2016

    1. I ordered my ringdoll jointed hands on January and it will only be arriving next month

      Honestly I'm more concerned about how to tighten it back when the strings get loosened

    2. As a large doll owner, I would prefer jointed hands as they provide more poses and they don't look bad in large sizes.

    3. When I first discovered BJDs I didn't really like the look of jointed hands but lately I'm finding myself really wanting to get some for my dolls. I just love the possibilities for photos! I'm always wanting to have my dolls holding things and it just looks awkward with their stiff hands. I hadn't thought about the whole restringing aspect though...

    4. I tend to like more odd shaped body sculpts that arent super realistic, like DC dolls. For them I love the jointed hands, they add to the kind of skeleton ish look of their bodies. But depending on sculpt I am also fine with non jointed, especially with smaller dolls like DZ Benjamin or sorts that have special hand poses.

      I more lean towards jointed I guess, but am ok with non if I like the look. I agree the non jointed delicate hands are so brakeable looking and I worry about them ;u;

    5. I only have regular hands now, so having a joint hands will be nice. It can make a lot more poses than regular ones.

    6. Magnetic hands! They easy to change and looks fine. =)

    7. I always thought I wanted jointed hands for all of my dolls. Until I got a doll with jointed hands... now I greatly dislike them. The fingers are constantly trying to be on backward :/

    8. I haven’t had too much trouble with the blushing on my MSD’s wearing off, and I hardly ever put her normal hands on (mainly because it’s easier to dress her when she has the jointed hands on). Now granted, I did not do any of the blushing myself. I always pay an artist here for all my dolls’ blushing needs.

    9. It must be the way that yours are made. I never have that problem with mine, except for in the bottom thumb joints.

    10. Yes, but they only work if your doll is set up for those. Mine are not. ^^;

    11. My doll’s jointed hands are, for whatever reason, slightly too big compared to her normal hands. I think her normal hands are gender-specific while the jointed ones are gender neutral. Although I bought them separately from the doll, they came pre-strung, so that was nice. The artist that I pay to do my blushing work color matched them for me. Expressiveness is great and it is so much easier to dress her with the jointed hands. The slightly too big thing is the only real problem for mine.

    12. Mine too. =\ But I going to fix it.

    13. My biggest problem with sculpted hands is trying to get them through sleeves. My YoSD came with two sets of sculpted hands, and I have hers perpetually set to curled fists just because I can get them through her sleeves more easily.

    14. How?

    15. By changing her hands to minifee or similar version. It looks not very difficult.

    16. But wouldn’t you have to change her entire arms for that? Or possibly her whole body if you want to switch to magnetic feet too?

    17. Oh, good idea! I'm not going to change her body, because I like it too much. However, I did not think about changing her arms entirely... But no. Her elbows are very good too. I just do not like the lack of magnets. =)

    18. I doubt I'll ever own jointed hands, unless it's on a doll that's supposed to look robotic. The joints on BJDs don't usually bother me, but when you put so many of them together like that, it doesn't even resemble human flesh anymore.

    19. They're the DC kid ones so probably.

    20. Yeah, mine are the Doll Legend ones.
