Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Jointed hands vs Regular hands?

Oct 9, 2016

    1. Well I've done some blushing on my girls n a few face ups so I'm going to give it a shot. I just ordered a new can of sealant too. I did order another set of hands just because they should be here 2-3 months sooner the the others... Haha impatient lately it seems. Then again I plan on getting another boy so maybe I will need both. ;P

    2. Haha, I did a report on these dolls in Japanese class one semester and all of my classmates said that they are “expensive, too expensive”.

    3. I have those semi jointed Dollzone/Doll Chateau hands on my Dollzone body and I really like the subtle differentposes the hands can go into and they don’t go all wonky like regular jointed hands and they don’t scare me as much to restring. But most of my dolls have regular hands.

    4. Depends on. I have both types. Some firms has better jointed hands, some - better regular hands.

    5. I prefer regular hands like the Dollfie dreams that have many hand options. I don't see the same with BJD hands, I like the jointed hands but they don't look nice, it looks like a skeleton hand so in the end I vote for regular hands with many option hands

    6. I'm torn on this. I love the idea of joined hands; being able to pose them exactly how I want, having my dolls holding things. Most of the time I don't like the actual look of the jointed hands though and each of the ones I have don't hold their poses as well as I would like them to. I have two dolls that I absolutely adore the sculpting of their regular hands but then I have two that I'm not a big fan of, one of which I replaced with joined hands. I don't know, I guess if the sculpting of the regular hands is nice enough I don't feel the need to replace them with jointed hands and, in the end, I would refer nice regular hands over jointed ones.

    7. I like how regular hands look, but jointed hands are way more particle and useful, especially it is hard to change most of doll's hands.

    8. Jointed hands are wayy better in my opinion. I want to get jointed hands for all my dolls.

    9. Yeah, I am stuck with that dilemma for my DC Human Xanthe... at first when I ordered her I wanted to order jointed hands when I got her home and had seen well her skin tone and all, but when I got her I saw her hands and they are so gorgeous that I don't wanna change them ;_; Still, I am very curious about jointed hands for MSD, since I have never seen ones in person, so I'm curious about their posability and grip.

    10. I love my doll’s gorgeous hands but I have an interesting idea in mind and that requires jointed hands. I think new hands will be my next purchase after I save the money. I think they look really cool, but I can understand why some people don’t like them or think they’re too weird.

    11. I like regular hand!

    12. I think it depends on the doll - and on the options that are available for that doll. If a doll comes with a variety of hand shapes, I don't see any additional value in jointed hands.

Also, I do like them on the bigger dolls, but not on the MSD-sized or smaller dolls. Too fussy.

    13. Regular hands-- IF beautifully sculpted. Hands on a doll are more a deal-breaker for me than even a face -- they need to be expressive and long fingered and detailed. The best hands I ever saw were the Souldoll female Zenith hands. I ordered several pairs of just those Zenith hands, and have them on other SD dolls now, blushed to match, just because they are gorgeous and very, very expressive.

Edited to add a pic of my Dollzone Morphoa with the Zenith female hands :XD:

    15. currently my boy has beautiful regular hands. but the biggest problem is that his hands are wide open, i can hardly put on regular cloth for him. so every time, i have to unhook his hands, which takes lots of energy and time (new to the hobby). I kinda hesitate to change outfit too often for him. finally i ordered a joint hands, waiting for them to come now.

    16. I'm really interested in jointed hands, but neither of my current dolls have them.

    17. I prefer jointed hands. At first I thought they were not beautiful, but over time I changed my mind.

    18. When this thread first started, I was in the "ugh, no. They look weird." group. I must admit that I just ordered my first pair of jointed hands, though. I broke fingers on an old doll, whose company no longer exists, so true replacement isn't an option. Ebay had inexpensive jointed hands, and I gave in. I'm honestly rather excited to see them, and see how they look in person. If all else fails, maybe dear Chloe will have to start wearing gloves...

    19. Oh dear, none of my girls have jointed hands. Always wanted them. Reading they become dangly, and difficult to re string...possibly won't change their hands. :-)

    20. I like the jointed hands of dolls, it gives more opportunities for playing and photo.
I have 3 boys, there are articulated arms, which I ordered immediately with a set, but it’s problematic for my girls to choose the right size , although I would really like...
