Keeping the Faith: When Your Dream Doll Finally Comes Home

Feb 10, 2008

    1. Not yet =\ I haven't found a tanned lati yet. (My ultimate dream) but when I do!! I will be sooo super happy and excited! maybe then my collection will be complete

    2. My dream dolls... Soom MDs Amber, Beryl, and Onyx T_T Sigh.

    3. I think I get wrapped up in the 'weird' category again, since there are some of the dolls mentioned here in previous posts that, oh yes, I would love to have one. A number of them are in the category of 'will always be too rich for my blood', though, and as a result, I don't even really let myself pine for them.

There are others -- Soom junkie that I am, I could now kick myself for not getting a few of the earlier MDs I liked simply because I was trying to stick to MA size only -- that might be a little more in reach, but I realize that they're still up there in the stratosphere. If I'm meant to have one, the money and the opportunity will fall into my pocket around the same time, to my way of thinking, and I refuse to worry too much about it otherwise.

The funny thing is, I know that, as I write this, somewhere in a studio, someone is sculpting a "must have or I will die no really I mean it really really!" that I'm going to miss due to not having money at the time or not hearing about it until it's too late to jump for it. It's just the way of things, it'd seem, when I get way too mellow about any given hobby.

    4. My first dream dolls were Tsukasa Konoe and Shirou Tachibana by Volks. Right now I am unsure if I still want them. For all I know it was just a "crush".

The next dream doll was DOD's Too. I dunno...I just fell in love with him when I saw someone who owned him. Since them I was committed to have him...and right now am just waiting for him ^_^

    5. My very first dream doll was Volks Shiro Tachibana...and Volks Lady Sylvie...then Cecile...then i laid eyes on Volks Nono Sweet Dream ES...I eventually got them all on Yahoo Japan :D...these days my next dream doll is Soom's Sard. What a lovely Tiefling he'd make! :fangirl: And also Volks SD17 Williams (I have the SD13 one and he's just gorgeous)... eek.

    6. in my case, the dolls on my wishlist keep changing :sweat so one day i want one reeeally badly, and the next week i've already moved on to another one
there is ONE doll that i always bear in my heart though, CP woosoo :D my dream to have him halfly came true: i got the MNF one
then, i was abble to buy a limited doll :D hes not home yet, i didnt even finished to pay him :sweat but hes MINE
      its a breakaway 05 :aheartbea
i honestly never thought i could have one. i found like 3 on the marketplace. #1) the seller could no longer receive PM and didnt come on DoA for quiet a while
#2) it was a feeler... the seller wanted more than i offered
      #30 I BOUGHT!! >8D
hes gonna cost me alot though. 450% for the head, 370$ for the body and 80$ for articulated hands
then i have to convert that from USD to CA$... *faint*

    7. I have a few dream dolls, most of which I will own.

First, I've been hoping and dreading for ages that Soom would release an MD that I simply have to own. The first sculpt I fell in love with was a Soom Namu, and I knew that if one of the more mature monthlies came along and suited my tastes I'd have to get it. Cass is that doll and she's all I could hope for in a Soom sculpt. She'll likely be replacing my first doll (the Namu) and will always be a favorite. I'm doing layaway, working overtime, and selling collectibles to get this doll so that I won't have to haunt the marketplace later.

The other dream dolls are more specific. MD Jina, Zaoll Luv, Supia Rosy, Dollshe SA Saint. I own the Jina and will be getting the girls before too long, but the Saint is just too big for me. He will probably always haunt me, but I just don't care to have that much doll around. :P

Jina was the first dream doll, and he's everything I could want and more. I love him better now that he's in hand than I did when simply lusting over the sculpt.
My first love, SM Namu is sort of the opposite since I adored him initially, but have cooled off a bit over time, until now it's easy to think of replacing him.

    8. One day I'll own a Volks Suigintou, I KNOW IT!!! <3

    9. my dream boy is shiro tachibana full-set default 1st edition ;___;
i was is ikebukuro and i saw him there NRFB!! in a disk wave/closet child!! he was ¥170000 i decided to do the mature thing and not blow all off my savings so i wouldn't stave the next 2 months in japan~ haha 2 days later i'm all f*ck eating i'm buying him!! so i go back to ikebukuro and he had been sold!!! i was sooo sad!! i swear next time i see him he will be mine! *determined*

    10. he was mine too...1st edition. when i got him i was overjoyed. i'm so sorry to hear he got away! you'll find another one! i'm sure of it! :love

    11. Good Luck! :) She's gorgeous!

    12. When I first was struck with the feeling that I need a BJD was when I first saw the lati yellow tan dolls (the blue/white winter editions). I saw Lami and Coco and needless to say- I was addicted! But of course then they were long sold out and even though I hunted the marketplace for them I was always too late and now they barely come up for auction. So no, my first BJD dream did not come true :( BUT, and this is one important "but", the two dolls I have now are substitute far good enough! I love them both, and even though they are not limited- they are indeed very special to me :)

I still have an eye out for the lati yellow tans though :aheartbea

    13. Volks Luna. Never gonna happen. WAAAY too much money. Usually I'm pretty good about not wanting things I can't have, but those limited Volks babies...oh, man. They make my face melt into a puddle of sticky goo. So I try not to thik about them.

    14. I had to have Luna too...she looks so cute with Williams :) The volks limited usually have the same effect on me. She was definitely a dream dollie (still is, and she's very spoiled)..hee hee...i hope thta someday you get her too!!! :D

    15. Wow, I have some great stories for this! :) Almost all of my dolls came into my possession through some miracle or another.

Isao Nanjou v.1: I had initially fell in love with Isao Nanjou version 2 through a friend's LiveJournal post. I had bought the HauteDoll magazine that contained his picture and carried it around with me. The date for purchasing the dolls came and went - they were just too expensive. I pined for one for about a year, carrying the magazine around with me all the time and naming some MMORPG characters I was playing with at the time, "Isao." It sounded so silly, and one day I was talking to my friend that I wished I had had a shot with Isao, and he said, "Well, check on EBay."

And lo and behold, there it was - a version 1 on EBay. I bought him, and he was my first doll. :)

Aika U-NOSS: I had wanted a girl doll with figure to her and a more mature body, but couldn't seem to find one. I tried looking at Soom's Gena, Luts' Lishe, but they didn't seem to be that one. I had traveled to Japan for a year to do my study abroad, and I happened upon this hideous doll with a beautiful body sitting naked, loosely strung, and not that well taken care of, in a second-hand shop in Akihabara. The box said 'Aika U-Noss.'

I had to google her and double check that what I was seeing was real. I was pretty sure she was a rare doll, and I knew how gorgeous she could be. So I bought her for $600 (they were happy to have her out of the store), and took her home, modded her, and she's still the most beautiful girl doll in the world to me.

Isao Nanjou v.2: This was crazy, because I had already given up on getting a Version 2 after I had gotten my Version 1. I had initially just wanted the clothes of the doll, but it had spread to a general longing for 'that doll' - the Version 2, that is.

And I found him on the Marketplace here not but a month ago. :) Dreams do come true, but sometimes they're not wrapped in shiny paper like we expect them to (like my girl). Sometimes they come to us in the weirdest way!

    16. Like many others mine was a Soom MD (Sard)
I remember when he came out :D
I just didn't realize he was being sold for a limitied time and missed the sale.
I ended up with human dolls instead which I love dearly.
I recently had a significant health scare, which involved surgery, everying is a-okay now, but I decided as a get-well present to myself it was going to be Sard.
I paid out the nose to bring him home and I am SO happy I did.
When I opened the box it was the best feeling.
He was so much more than I had expected.
He means so much to me and he is definetly the doll that will stay with me!!

    17. I still sit and wait in thought of my two dream dolls.
      1) Yukinojo: Probably not happening. I just can't afford to drop that on a boy all at once, even if he did show up on the marketplace

      2) Minimee Christian Kane: Possible! Probable! as soon as the cards are paid off... while the body I want is expensive but unlimited, I live in fear that DIM might Cancel their minimee service before my finances are in order enough to grab him... *shivers*

    18. My dream doll is DZ's Hong. The first time I saw him, I pretty much fell off my chair. He was that awesome. Now 4 months later, he is on his way home. He is my first doll. My new dream doll hasn't been found yet but I would really like a 70cm Vampire boy. I don't know if they exist though...

    19. I'm glad that you are fine now and that you got your sard. It gives me hope for getting mine too! :fangirl:

    20. my dream doll has not been made yet, but Dollmore has told me he will be.....one day. I am wanting a white Nayuta Kenzo glamour model. I fell in love with Hound mostly because of his little secret grin and his hands, way back in 2005, and now I fell for this boy for the same reasons. Sadly DM only releases WS as a lomited, and will not be swayed by me into doing a custom (I did try *sighs*) so I guess I wait for that fateful day...and know when it happens I will go broke instantly, or stop eating for a month
