My Roderich just came back home after sent him for the face up.
And he is really gorgeous, I fall in love with him again!!
His faceup was done by Kappaka who is also a talented artist of Dollgru head.

He is on Spirit doll body.
The resin matched so well but he can't tilt his head upward, backward.
This due to the limited size of neck socket.
Anyway I like the proportion of the head and body when it's come with wig on.

Cloudedmind, I've finally got the pics of my Roderich head on the old DZ 70cm body. The nighttime lighting and obvious resin mismatch does make things look goofy no matter what, but I'll do my best to give you a good evaluation of the match based just on proportions.

The thicker neck on the old 70cm body does make for a more realistic, less bobble-headed look. The disadvantage is limited head mobility; he can't look up or down very well, so some sanding may be necessary to rectify that.




Not much to worry about in terms of gapping.


The main problem, in my opinion, is those big, paw-like hands that come with the old-style body; they can be adorable when matched with large stylized DZ faces, but paired with the Roderich sculpt, they tend to look oversized and a bit cartoonishly exaggerated.


Obviously not the most flattering photos ever, but I hope they still are helpful to some extent. XD;

 

I agree. I think his arms and hands are a little to big to work with Roderich's face. To bad because the head to shoulder width ratio doesn't look to bad. Much to think about. Thanks a lot for the pictures. ^_^

 

When you say the thigh doesn't bend do you mean the old body or the new 70cm body? In the new body at least, you have to pull the thigh part down some and then push it up and then the back part of the lower hip latches onto a hook like piece on the connecting upper thigh part so it can sit with it's knee's hugged to it's chest. I believe I have a picture of my guy doing just that.

This does give me hope that the 68cm body might not look to bad. It's proportions are closer to the old style 70cm body, but I may still end up with the same hand problem.

Yes I was wondering that too because the neck is 11cm, and also with the DZ 68cm body which neck size is 10,5cm.

 

Ah yeah I'd forgotten about that picture. I think for now the closes we're going to get to the old 70cm is the new 68cm. Going back to check it's dimensions again it's actually a little thicker then the old 70cm. Buuuuuuut it's missing that extra torso piece. I had thought about the 65cm body but it's alittle shorter then I'd like.

 

I hope the ones I want won't be sold out by this Friday. >.<

 

I ordered normal skin because although my pasty librarian boy is pasty, I do not want him to look too pasty against his childhood friend the assassin, who I am also hoping to get in NS. As soon as LLDT confirms my order I guess I will start hunting eyes and wig for him. He will be getting teal Enchanted Doll eyes and I think W101 wig from Leeke in either Marron or Baby Brown. I am not sure what body I am going to put him on, as I want him to be quite short. His character is only 5'7" XD

 

Congrats to everyone who has ordered Roderich! Ahaha, I remember how confusing the ordering/payment process was the last time around, too ... ^^;;

Also, an update for those wondering about body or resin matching - I received my normal pink Loongsoul Evan head last week, and the LS normal pink resin ... is definitely NOT a match for LLDT normal. XD; Not even close. LLDT normal is considerably more yellow. So I'm very glad I ordered LS normal yellow for the 73.5cm body, because no matter what, that's gotta be a better match.

@Tsukasa: Yeah, I noticed that the LS hands are fairly large too, but they're still more realistically sculpted and proportioned than the old DZ hands. My boy Ernst is a soldier type, so large masculine hands are fine for him. My main concern is still neck fit/head mobility more than anything else.

 

Your character sounds cool!!!! I am doing the same. My character is better fitting for a 70cm. What size eyes and wig are best for these guys???

 

12mm or 14mm eye size is best, and wig size 8-9 or 8.5-9.5. ^^

I've ordered NS for my Roderich heads. The Popodoll and Infinity doll bodies are on my list of ones I could use, and I reeeeeeeeally like the new dollstown 18yr boy body. And I "think" dollstown uses the same resin color as dollshe and I believe St. James said she was going to get an oriental skin dollshe body for her head so I'm hoping that match is good. Either way I'll get to see for myself as I've ordered an oriental skin Rosen so I can try my Roderich heads on his body, if I can some how figure out how to get the heads on.

 

Yep, Dollstown has all of their casting done by Dollshe, so the colors will be identical. I'll also be ordering the DT18 boy body in orientalskin when it's available (not for my Roderich) so I'll be able to show that when it gets here.
I expect that the Dollshe neck will need some modification, but it's not the same system that the DSAM28 bodies use so it shouldn't be as drastic as removing all of the metal parts and sawing things off!
