1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

LatiDoll Yellow Discussion part 27

Jun 28, 2021

    1. I preordered Elf Hana in Tan and Pink without costume or hooves from DollPeddler. Now just sitting tight for the wait.

    2. I would love a white skin Chloe and Noa but.. timing is bad :sigh

    3. I know what you mean about timing. They had a basic sale in the summer time so maybe they’ll open basics a few times a year and hopefully the next one will be better timing.

    4. a little snap of my S. Belle with her new wig handmade by me :3nodding:
      always love this sculpt.

    9. its so sad how inactive the lati community has become. ive been reading through the old threads from like 10 years ago when so many people loved lati and shared tons of photos/thoughts every day. it makes me feel like a part of it when i go back and read it now.:XD: i wonder what happened to all the lati lovers

    10. One thing that happened was that Lati shipping times became way too long. I gave up when the waiting time was a year! And another thing is that I don't like Lati's new face molds very much. They all look too similar, I can't tell them apart. And I'm not fond of Lati's current face-up's either. Lati's face-ups have varied hugely in style with time, some have been bad and some have been good.

I have loads of old Lati's, though, so I could take lots of pictures and post them here, but somehow people only seem to be interested in new releases, not the old ones.

    11. I love pictures of old dolls! i have some old dolls I would love to get out for pictures! I also quit buying when the wait times got soooo long.

    12. Here's Tarzan with his cousins. Tarzan is the last doll I got directly from Lati. I would probably not have bought him otherwise, but I had lots of "late points" from previous orders that had lasted way too long, so I got him quite cheap. The waiting time was a year, but it was worth it, he's very cute. He's Benny mold which is one of the original 6 Lati molds that Lati does no longer seem to use. (Possibly because of too many illegal recasts)

    13. I think the Lati community is very quiet too. I remember doll forums and Facebook groups being very active in the past and now it feels more impersonal, where does everyone chat about dolls now?

I like to see the boys @spih, you don’t see a lot of LY as boys. It’s funny because I’ve bought a few withdoll and one Luts that I thought would be cute as girls and they all look like boys when I get them but with Lati I always see them as girls. The only LY I might change to a boy is Berry if I find a boy outfit that is unique from my other 1/8 boys.

    14. All the current LYs look like girls. I have more Lati boys than girls, but then most of them are from special editions that were meant to be boys, so I guess the face-ups were made more boyish.

    15. You guys mentioned how inactive the Lati community is and I agree. I know 99% of people disagree with me and no one cares but I want to get this off my chest.
I really really like the BJD and toy/hobby aesthetics in the 2000s and early 2010s. Especially Aidolls, Orientdoll, Latidoll, and many others. All these BJD companies had a great aesthetic back then. I also love the clothing, outfits, and accessories from back then!!
Latidoll's old skin colors, old sculpts, old outfits, and old faceups are all way better to me. I love looking at old owner pictures of BJDs, the atmosphere was so different.
People say "styles come back every X years" but that's not true at all. Maybe vague trends like a dress silhouette or a broad style category comes back, but the actual "sense" and specific aesthetic is lost forever, and it's never the same again.

I have several new Latidolls but I don't post them or get involved in the community for this reason. Honestly, it makes me uncomfortable and sad how much the aesthetic has changed, because it feels so out of place and like I missed out on something. I don't like 99% of the aesthetic these days (for Lati as well as other companies.) Even Sanrio, Etsy/handmade artists, and other cutesy hobby stuff has totally changed the aesthetic since then. And a lot of the companies/artists from back then have completely stopped making stuff.
I always admired lots of BJDs/toys/etc such as Latidoll since many years ago, but I couldn't buy them at that time because I was a kid. I feel sad that now that I'm an adult that can finally buy stuff, the style/sense is totallyyyyy different and everything I love is gone and never coming back. It makes me feel very disconnected from the hobby and I don't know how to explain the feeling.
A lot of the things are super rare as well, since these things are not produced in huge quantities, so buying secondhand is not even an option a lot of the time. It's almost like "lost media," and I feel like I lost something. When I talk about it, most people don't understand... I hope there is someone that understands.

    16. love your Benny @spih!
i would love to have a Benny but i doubt they will release one again.
I asked on lati's q&a board about a tan Lea or Noa in the future, and they replied about Noa but nothing for Lea.
since Lea is old as Benny, i dont have hope for a chance to buy a new one

    17. Sometimes you can find older Latis from the Marketplace, but not often full sets. Lea used to be very popular, so it is probably more likely to find a Lea than a Benny. I have been lucky to find a second hand Gingerbread Benny, so now I have 3 dolls of the Benny mold: Eggie, who is a basic from 2008 (with my own face up), Gingerbread Benny and Tarzan:

    18. Maiyufi, I relate with a lot of what you have said. One other aspect that bothers me is, with what seems like a lot of companies now, I can't simply order a doll when I want to buy a doll. I must wait for a special event or release. It kills so much of the excitement and after a while without being able to place an order I begin to lose interest.

I wanted a Yellow and a Lime (or a couple of each) from this event, but I couldn't pay for all of them right now. Lati said layaway was only available if I purchased more than 5 dolls. In the end I bought one Lime. I will wait until the next order for my LY. Perhaps.
