LatiDoll Yellow Discussion part 27

Glad to see a new face on this thread, their outfits are so cute!

 

I am moving my post here as per a suggestion from another member:

I am not sure if this is the right place for what I am going to share, but I have been feeling like giving up on this hobby for awhile now. I have collected a family of LYs, over the years, but somehow the pandemic years have changed me. I definitely don't feel like the same person I was when I began collecting over 10 years ago.

Then I have this concern that if i were to give up my LYs, one day I may regret as quite a few are limited editions.

Any input is welcome. I am at a crossroads and appreciate any views.

 

I have lost interest and sold off other doll types multiple times in the past and only regretted selling the majority of them off once. It’s not a super strong regret though, I still have a few of them that I saved and display in my doll room. So I guess based on my experience, my advice if you decide to sell would be to do it slowly, sell your least favorite and see how you feel about letting one go.

 

latidoll are not as sought after as they were 10 years ago. if you sell them now most likely you will be taking a huge loss, the market is terrible now anyways. i would hold onto them and put them away and see how you feel after a while, just my opinion. i've completely sold everything twice and regretted it both times

I was wondering if they were once together. I purchased Hana from AngelToast and I know that Mina was also painted by them. They both have the Sailor Venus Symbol tattooed on their foreheads too! They are definitely besties!

 

i had all 10 sailor guardian at one point i only have 3 left for now. it's nice to see where they end up!

 

Could I please have some advice? I was looking for a pocket doll that could travel with me so I scoured the secondhand market for a Lati Yellow. In the end I had nothing but bad luck so far so I'm starting to doubt whether I want to stick with any of these.

N° 1 arrived with a damaged face-up (typical MSC cracking issue not disclosed by seller) but is in the 'special' mocha light brown skin tone that Lati supposedly only offers at in-person events? She has extra string and extra hands.

N° 2 arrived safely safely except for for some squished eyelashes. Easily fixed but she did not come with extra hands nor string despite having been advertised to having them.

If I take N° 2 with me her face-up could possibly be damaged which would be a shame knowing I already have one with a ruined face-up. If I take N° 1 I'm worried about her special skintone being near impossible to replace and her yellowing and not matching her hand sets anymore.

I know these are silly worries since both girls will yellow and/or receive minor damage to their face-up over time when loved but right now I feel like I need to make an educated decision. I think I'll probably sell the one that doesn't get chosen which is also something to factor into the decision. I like both girls equally much hence the tough decision.

Which girl would you select if these were yours?

 

If I was so concerned about damaging my dolls, I would not take any doll. Damage or dirt is an inevitability you take when you take your dolls outside and handle them and less so when they're being stored or kept at home. Also the sealant will keep cracking if you don't spray it so you must buy some MSC and spray on top of it to maintain what's left.

 

I would take whichever doll appeals to you the most. The purpose of a pocket doll is to have it with you and yes, she might get damaged, but she will be the one who experiences thing with you, while the rest of your collection remains home, protected. I use a small protective doll bag to protect mine as best I can. One idea is that you could use both as your pocket dolls and take one at a time. This way if you have to get a new face up some day on one, you will still have the other.

I would spay the one with MSC, like @maiyufi said. A while ago there were a bunch of Latidolls that had some issues with their sealant. Some people were able to fix it by spraying MSC on the head. I had a Lati white that was like that and chose to put a new face-up on her.

 

I have one Lati with the cracking sealant issue. The cracks are small and hardly visible. They have not got significantly worse with time, so I haven't done anything to fix the issue. I haven't taken her out either. She's so beautiful that I have not wanted to risk damaging her face up. If I would want to add MSC on her, I would need to take her eyelashes off. Would they come off easily? I have been afraid of trying to remove the eyelashes for fear of damaging her face up.

The Lati with the cracked face up is Fire Sprite Miel. The cracks don't show in photos, they are on her forehead between the eyes.

I have another Lati (the Owl Messenger Haru) from the same release, but he has no problems with his face up. As far as I know the sealant problem is due to too much moisture in the air when the sealant is applied. The Owl Haru has been out in the forest, and still he has developed no problems with his face up.

 

@spih She is really pretty! You are right, the cracks in the sealant do not show in pictures. The cracks I had unfortunately did.

i have kind of taken a step back from my lati and feeling more inspired by my MSD lately. thinking of cleaning everything out but not sure yet. Latidoll has been with me for almost half my life!

 

It’s a difficult decision, I have gone through that with other dolls in my collection but I’m never able to do a complete clean out.

 

I had latis back when they fud the pirate release. I fell out of love with them - partly due to the 6mth wait time. I found out about there in stock event in December and bought a couple and almost a year later, I now have 10! I love the new dolls they have released in recent years. I do have many other dolls I need to sell. I can't do it here because of using flickr yo upload pics.

 

I loved Lati Yellow for so long can't remember the year it started.

The cracking sealant problem suddenly appeared it's such a same. If you can't see it and it doesn't get worse I would keep her like that if you love the face up. I sent two back to Lati to get fixed. They never return the same and I sold them because I didn't like te new face up.

I'm so sorry to hear about not disclosing cracks. I always list the tiniest issue just so the buyer won't get disappointed.
I sold one with the cracks mentioned. I was so happy to hear from the buyer she didn't even notice the cracks to her it was a perfect doll.

I'm too scarred to mention how many Lati's I have. I just can't choose which to sell but I have to soon.

 

Does anyone else here love the Lulu sculpt? I love sculpts with a bit smaller eyes
