Ooohmmmm Hotglue sueding test succeded. by holyvirus, on Flickr

As you can see, hotglue sueding does help. Cedric couldn't hold up his arms or his legs like this without going to kicking mode. I do think about to use a wire in the legs for extra stability as sometimes the leg joint pops out of the socket.
I have used very little drops of glue in every socket and spread it out with the tip of the gluegun. Only in his knees the upper leg part is glued sued. Lower part didn't had any effect so I left it clean. Also I have made tiny hooks from paperclips for his hands and feet. It didn't add any effect of posing but now I can remove hands and feet without restringing :)

    3. Wow!! That is amazing!!!!!!! I am SO getting a glue gun...

      He looks very Zen. :D

Thanks very much for sharing these pics!

P.S. If you were to use a wire for his legs, which kind would you use? I've been trying to find florist's wire ("bloemistentape") here in The Netherlands, but haven't had much luck so far! You?

    4. Great job Sint. Appears sueding is the way to go.
Meike, Everyone I've heard use pipe cleaners to strengthen the joints. I had to go to a tobacco shop to find them. I didn't have much success but I think along with sueding they might really help. My new body posed beautifully right out of the box.
Here's a pic of the new version body. The mold is Momo, her name is Anya.

    5. Thanks Saabira! After some more thinking, I reached the conclusion that I had just been using the wrong Dutch term. I'd been looking for...tape. Not wire. Now that I've searched for wire, I can see that it's readliy available. :doh Now off to find out which size I'll need!

    6. Meike, pipe cleaners are wire covered with fuzz. That way they don't scratch. They can also be used to make all kinds of accessories for your dolls.

    7. Just wired my Abby with thin pipecleaners. :) It does make quite a difference (and it was a piece of cake to do!), but I'm also going to hot-glue suede her I think, to make her just that extra little bit more stable.

Another question while I'm here... Where do you lot get trousers for your Lati Yellow Sp? I only have dresses for my girl, and I would really like some pants too, but I can't find any!

    8. I made some simple jeans but I remember someone saying the Bratz boy jeans fit. I will dig some out and see how well they fit. Will let you know as soon as I get a chance to check it. Glad you had success with the pipe cleaners.

    9. An update on my 'how to get Abby to pose better' efforts! Got rid of the pipe cleaners, because once I tried real wire, WOW, what a difference!! I am not sure of the official term for the wire I used, I think they called it construction wire, or installation wire, or some such! Mine is black (they didn't have any other colours unfortunately) and 1.5 mm, and it worked wonders!! See:

SO much better! I also hot glue sueded her arm sockets and elbows. I can finally play with my girl without getting frustrated by her inability to hold a pose! :D

    10. Meike, Looks like that worked very well. Could you post a pic of the wire so I have a better idea what to look for at the store? Also, can you tell me what is the difference between sueding and hot glue sueding? Thanks. After seeing the great results you and Sint have gotten, I really am anxious to work on my girls.

I love the new bodies! There's such wonderful posers; I can leave them standing, sitting, etc., and they stay in that position. I'm really thinking about wiring my older girls now after looking at this pics.

I buy leggings and pants for them at Etsy. Foot-less Blythe leggings can work too, and Spampy here also sews for that size.

    12. Meike, I absolutely love the new body. My girl can hold poses but what is amazing is that she can stand on her own. I mean I leave her standing and days later she is still standing. I can't get my old body girls to stand long enough for a picture. I am going to try sueding them. It seems to work beautifully. By the way, just want you to know I never have liked the coco mold but your girl is amazing.

    13. Thanks girls! :) I was going to get the new body, but now that I've wired and sueded Abby, I think I'll stick with her old body, esp. since my dolly funds seem to have hit rock bottom again... ;)

I'll take a picture of the wire I used asap.

As I understand it, you can either suede your dolls with a (low temperature) hot glue gun, or use moleskin suede / silicone sheets to make little inserts that you glue in the sockets of the joints. I've never tried the moleskin/silicone sueding, just the hot glue method, and that one works really well and is very easy to do. I just pull out the limb and squirt a bit of glue in the socket, quickly spread it with my glue gun's nozzle (have to be quick or it will have dried already), wait for 15-20 seconds and voila. The trick is to spread it evenly, not too thick, and to keep away from the elastic.

EDIT: quick pic of the wire I've been using:

It's rather stiff copper wire coated in plastic.
I used the black for Abby; it's 1.5 mm I think.

    14. Thanks Meike, I'm off to the hardware store.

    15. It's been over a month since anyone has posted. I miss all the tall yellow girls. I am very tempted to get one of the new CoCo's. She is not as cute as your sweetie Meike but is very sweet. I have a while to make my decision. Everyone is soooo excited about the new grown up bayer but I think she has too much eye makeup. I like the little girl look. She does have a cute face but I think I would have to have her faceup done by someone else.

    16. I'm so glad they updated the bodies but I think many people don't have them because of the clothing options...I don't know

    17. They fit some Blythe clothes and the Riley Kish except the pants are too short. They are easier to sew for I think. I think it's because the puki fees??? clothes fit the yellow basics and a lot of Lati collectors also collect puki fees. I am arguing with myself about getting the new Coco sp. I should be paying bills but.....

    18. Hello, is anyone out there?

    19. Yup yup! I am! And so is Abby. :)

We're not the most active bunch are we! ;)

    20. I'm here even though I don't have one lol...I don't have any doll funds so I can't even try :(
