Leekeworld [Limited Edition] Juwel and Croom Ent discussion

Apr 21, 2011

    1. Oh dear... my husband fell in love with Croom... and with Jewel's price tag of over $1k... I can't imagine when Croom will be... I think the first doll he's in love with will have to be his forever dream doll... we can't afford that! Maybe he'll forget about him between now and the end of the month x-x

    2. I actually REALLY like him. But I agree the current blushing colors are really strange TOO pretty. I would do browns and greens. Frustrating because I'm looking for a man for my just arrived woodland goddess hooved girl. But I bet he is pricey. I'd get him a black or brown dread wig...the one they offer is MEH and my girl is a red head...he'd start looking like her brother lol

    3. It really depends on what the horse parts will be. I thought Jewel was overpriced. I can appreciate that there was a lot of work put into her, but she would have sold a lot more if she hadn't been so expensive. I'm hoping Croom is a huge success for them though, but judging by the number of people on this list, he's not looking as if he's going to fly off the shelf.

    4. Ok, so the prices are up, for Croom with spear and helmet, everything body blushed $1250, which doesn't include wigs or eyes. Unfortunately, the blue is the only colour he comes in with regards to blushing. Without the blushing but with the extras, he's $970 so that's quite reasonable. I just don't think I could blush him myself unfortunately. I think I'll got for broke, get the blushing and ent head, helmet and spear. Sigh. May as well get the lot.

    5. Wow, yeah, the price really doesn't seem bad at all for what he is. He's huuuuuuge. I love that measurement chart they added. <3

    6. Seems no choice of skin color? That's not good for hybrid. BTW, do they offer layaway?

    7. Apologies to anyone whom doesn't care, but I need to rant about the Leeke Croom Ent-

I have been watching, waiting and eagerly coming back to the Leeke website for the past 4-5 months WANTING further details about the Croom Ent Making Story project each time I came back.

Whenever there was an update I was always filled with glee and loved him all the more for with each update he was becoming more awesome than before.

I believe his face sculpt is an absolute TRIUMPH! He is fierce, yet has a fragility that nature has.

However, upon visiting Leeke yesterday and today I am shocked and horrified by the updates I have seen on him.

Firstly, why is his bottom half of his body a different colour to the top half? Surely as the one creature his skin tone should be of a more matching colour.

And speaking of colour, WHAT THE HELL IS WITH HIS BLUSHING!? *BLUE*???? Why make an Ent, a half human half tree creature and then paint him BLUE!? As a shepperd of the forest his colours should be more natural and blend with the surroundings he lives in. Browns and greens would be far superiour to BRIGHT BLUE with swirls of gold!

And today I see a preliminary cost and Option features that can be purchased with him. I was hoping the blue colour would be just one blushing option, but NO! It's THE ONLY blushing option! All other Project dolls have had 3 or 4 blushing colours to choose from. WHY DOESN'T THIS GUY!?

I'm not an artist whom can blush my own dolls, and I don't like the idea of sending him away to be painted on by a stranger.

It's such a shame- the past 4-5 months I have had nothing but hope and joy each time I have seen his updates. Every piece of the project has delighted me more. There is not a step along the way that I have not enjoyed more than the one before it. Each individual piece is amazing, and yet when it comes together and 'completed' I am totally put off by the choice in different resin colours, the blushing, and even his headwear!
In the original drawings it looks like an extension of himself. Twigs and leaves growing from his head. On him now in that ridiculous BLUE colour and with a wig on underneath it just looks like a weird hat that serves no purpose.

Unless if he is updated tomorrow when he becomes available for sale with different blushing options and resin colour choices, then out of contempt for how this beautiful creature has been defiled by the end result of this process process, I shall not purchase him out of protest, even though I love him dearly and he would fit so perfectly in my newer collection of hybrid dolls.

      Mawgy

    8. I suspect they might offer other skin choices before the order form is finalized. As I recall, with past Project dolls, the options prior to release weren't always complete.

Although, the approach of different colours for the upper/lower halves was the same for the tiny Entaurs. It makes sense if you think of them like standard centaurs, since the lower equine body was usually a different colour (and haired) compared to the human skin tone. And since his lower body is sort of plant-ish, it seems reasonable that it would look different from his human body.

I was honestly kind of hoping they would follow the previous releases and have the option of a semi-transparent lower body, though I guess maybe it was an issue with such huge pieces? (Or perhaps they'll add the rest of the options and it'll be there, who knows.)

I definitely sympathize with the lack of other blushing options, though. :( Beautiful as the colours are, I also much preferred the 'shopped version of him in browns/greens to the option given.

For what it's worth, I found it really wasn't too hard to blush fantasy parts and have them come out looking good, even if you aren't an artistic type (as I most definitely am not) although it does eat up a lot of time & supplies.

Edit: Darn. Last time I looked, the bit under options had a line of gibberish listing different skin colours, but now it just says skin colour is "with picture." Guess that does mean no option.

    9. After a mild heart attack I decided to look at him again.

Okay it seems a bit weird that they didn't offer the transparent skin for the ent parts this time. Being a premium member means I should be able to change his body colour as well if we want - I wondering how he would look in green. I'm not that in love with the helmet and I could go without the spear as well (I'm thinking of making one out of wood and a real crystal). No problems doing the face-up and body blushing for me. With discount he comes to $769.50.

      Very tempting ... very tempting

    10. He's quite beautiful. I hope we see many owner pictures of him in the future. ♥ I'm sure the blue blushing has it's own artistic reasoning behind it. He reminds me of the blue Macalania Forest in Final Fantasy X. Those that aren't happy with it can always have him custom blushed by another artist or do it themselves though. ^^

It's too bad his size is just too big for me. He's definitely wonderful looking! xD

    11. I don't know about whether you can change the bottom horse part skin tone. They may not offer that. If he's going to be offered in that blue blushing only, I may however ask if I can get him in the blue skin tone for the top half instead. At least that would make more sense with the body and blushing. I'll email Leekeworld tonight and find out what options (if any) premium members would be allowed.

Now that I think about him, if I can't have him in natural colours, I think getting Lovely B skin tone for the top would be a much better option. Fingers crossed that they may do it.

Well, I think Croom is wonderful. I was a little thrown by the original photos because his legs appeared to vanish and there's no sense of perspective of size because he's all by himself. I think he's going to be spectacular in person and I don't want to miss out on him. I have a feeling that when I see him in person, I'm going to be amazed. The more I look at him, the more I want him. I was gearing up for a completely unrealistic price that I would never be able to afford, but he's within my budget and a definite must-have.

    12. I've emailed Leeke as well. I asked about having the Fairy Green Skin and why they didn't have the half clear parts for the lower body (they do have them for the helmet, arms and spear though). I don't know if it's got something to do with strength but hopefully they'll respond.

I made up my mind long ago not to buy him so why am I researching this? He would be a good Daddy for my little entaur, and a good herd leader for my Sov, Minette and Trona. Pisses me off no end that the Soom centaurs are so "delicate" and he certainly isn't

    13. Now that I think of the blue, he's kind of an Avatar Centaur which is rather nice. I've been wanting to see what the Lovely B skin looks like.

The Soom seemed out of proportion in their photos, but they look an awful lot better in real life. I think Croom is going to be gorgeous, but he's probably going to tower over any other Centaur *snicker*.

Whitewolf - you're researching him because you know that if I get him and you love him, then you'll be kicking yourself if you don't have him.... I'll be bringing him to meet-ups to torment you.

    14. That is really cruel Hobbysue. I know you're right - but that's mean.

Although because of you I do have a Leeke Clarice now.

Edited for extra enabling? You wicked minx!!!

I have Lovely B skin - it's a lovely shade of pale lilac (blue toned). I can post a picture if you want

By the way I've always found Leekeworld to be very accomodating. It might be worth asking them to include another more natural blushing option.

I looked at the measurements. Wow his torso is huge. I wonder how much this big guy weighs?

    15. Ooh, I love the idea of getting his upper half in Lovely B! I also have a little entaur in that shade and it's definitely gorgeous. I really hope they can swing it since you're a Premium member.

    16. Eff it! I need him. Now I just need to find a job or two as I just moved and am unemployed atm. He would be gorgeous in Lovely B or green skin.

    17. Pooh!!!

They will only allow him to be pure rose - no options for Premium members.

Pissed off right now. Think I'll go play outside with the animals

    18. Awww, man, that really stinks. :( I'm so sorry to hear that. I loved the ideas for him in other colours.

    19. Can't believe i missed that news topic on him *blushing* ah well :P.

I was fascinated by the concept art, but agree with previous posts saying that umm blue?! wth?
And it is very very weird that the bottom half has another colour than the upper half. I do not understand that at all :/.

    20. Well, I just saw the news that they're discontinuing the basics so if I want a Mikhaila head, I'd better get in and order one. I haven't heard back from Leeke, but perhaps I need to post on the Q&A. The english person you email takes a while longer.
