Leekeworld [Limited Edition] Juwel and Croom Ent discussion

Apr 21, 2011

    1. Teaser pictures are up! :D

    2. Darn it.. Mikhaila AND Juwel? Depending on Juwel (I want to see the real thing already!! :( ) I might go bankrupt...

    3. I'm interested, but at this point, I think I'd rather save my money for Croom. I was only planning on getting Jewel if she was an absolute must-have and the face isn't calling to me. No particular reason, it's a really lovely face, but I think I'm more focused on Croom. I wasn't overly keen on the drawings of Jewel so I'll be happy if I don't want to get her. I've also got a Mikhaila so my wallet is safe from Leeke at this point in time.

    4. Well, count me disappointed ^^ The concept art was amazing, but the doll... Not so much. Hopefully the male one will be cooler.

    5. Oh... I'm a bit disappointed too.
      I wonder if they've prepared different versions of her (different resin colours and faceups).. cause well, as she is she's quite boring. ^_^;;
I like all the ent parts but, her head sculpt isn't my thing (at least with that faceup) and she seems to be a natural resin colour, maybe white skin.

Now if she's actually MSD and they have her with different faceups in exciting resin colours, I may be interested again!

    6. Been dying for teaser pics... have been keeping my eye out all week just in case something were to magically appear.

    7. Hmm. So far she is not giving me the same OMG-cannot-live-without-her feeling that the D line ents gave me. I like her face but I'm not crazy about the fantasy resin clothing bits which is a shame since that would be my main reason for buying her. I'd like to reserve full judgement until Monday though after seeing if there are different versions.

    8. Well, now that I look at her...I would totally need to see more piccies as well, which isn't awesome, as of course the Ents, fairy girls and Mikhaila all had me from the promo shots. On the other hand, I hate you Leekeworld, with a hatred borne of someone who just got up at 3 in the morning to get Rosen Lied limited outfits, and only saw your stupid-stupid plan to have two Project Dolls at the same time after the fact... :|

Hmm, although with the options posted, it looks like they will be split-friendly on Juwel, with the option to double-up on fantasy parts. And an additional body for the human head? I definitely need to see all the pics now. :sweat

    9. Rats! I thought we'd get a tan, mature beauty, but alas she has a very youthful face. I thought the rainbow of colors on the baby ents looked great, but I thought we'd see something a little more serious on her. I'm disappointed not to see a more original wig, as the teaser suggested. Oh well! More money for me to save ^^

    10. I agree as well she looks too baby faced. I thought she would look more adult and narrow. I will wait to see more pics but disappointing so far.

    11. Me as well. It's a pretty face, but doesn't quiet fit with the concept of the drawings. As a doll, her face seems too "soft." I was picturing something with an exotic, "stern face" appeal. With gray skin! A bit disappointed, but still eager to see what the rest of her would look like. (especially the legs).

    12. I agree, if there are different versions of her, it just might save this doll! Her face just seems to mainstream and I can't help but think her "fantasy" parts might pop off of her (yikes!) Seems a bit loose on her, but we shall see on Monday!

Tan or gray would have been awesome! I agree with tackytiffany I feel her face should be a little more narrow and adult.

    13. I would also have preferred a more mature, wilder look. I LOVE the idea behind her and the fantasy parts look nice so far, but her head, while pretty, is a bit disappointingly generic. (Or maybe not disappointing, since DC Pierre was definitely not part of my doll-buying plan and yet there he is on layaway. :sweat) I look forward to seeing the rest of her pictures, though. Especially her headdress, which looks incredible in the concept art.

I do hope the Croom Ent's head is more reminiscent of their Lionel, Richard and Patrick boys. A Richard-type head on a body half as awesome as the concept art would be irresistible!

    14. I had feared for this for Juwel. While I adore some of their sculpts, I admit their big girls do have quite a girlish look to them, while their boys are just lovely. I was wondering if they would do a more mature female sculpt or not, and I think they have chosen to keep their cherub-girl theme alive, though of course a faceup can do a lot for a doll as well; I'm sure there will be more than a few F5s happening Monday morning Korean time...

    15. I was really hoping for the more mature face too... still holding out to see how the "Armour" version of Juwel goes...and what are the "Ent Eyes" and what are they going to be like? She's definitely more pink, cutsey and "Fairy" rather than the more of the Ent / Greenman look I was hoping for. Will still reserve my opinions until I see the Ent "Armour" version though as hoping that is the more human face that is showing on the preview pic.
If she could just stand up to being more like the new coloured concept art of a more mature looking fantasy girl I'd be sold! It really is that more mature look I was hoping for.

    16. This is where I'm sitting, too. Handy, since there's not a lot of cash this month and there are a lot of things with payments due or that are calling to me out there already. I was hoping for something a lot more mature and serious-looking -- something with a bit of bite, and a little danger. She's just way over the cutesy sweetums line for me, and looks... well, more toy than art to me. The sketches screamed 'surreal and edgy artsy sculpt', and the end result delivered something very different, and something I have -- unfortunately, since my hopes were very high -- seen a lot of before and passed on owning every single time. I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing her in the galleries, but I don't need this lady in the house. They did a lovely job of making a very nice doll -- it's just not a doll for me. Since the sweet-faced girls do seem very popular with collectors, I suspect she'll still do very well for them.

    17. It really is that more edgy look I was hoping for too. The concept art promised something unique that the reality simply just doesn't come close to. Now I fear for how Croom may turn out as I was really holding out hopes for him.

    18. Yeah me too... I was so excited when I saw the concept sketches, then when I saw the completed doll as a teaser.... I was severely disappointed. I can't believe they used Transparent resin for the fantasy parts, it looks ridiculous instead of "woody", they should have taken the route Soom usually takes with their fantasy parts, and actually sculpted different parts to swap out for human or fantasy... I was also hoping for a tan-skinned or grey-skinned doll even, but that face.... -sigh- She looks way too young for what I had in mind. I was also hoping they'd give her a wig that sort of resembled a "dreadlock look", if you know what I mean... they should have stuck with their promotional concept :/

    19. Count me in the disappointed camp. :( She is a very pretty girl, don't get me wrong, but she is NOTHING like what I expected. As many others have mentioned, I was expecting something of a long/angular-faced girl with a sort of wild look. What we were presented with is a cute little girl with parts that remind me of the shell bras the blond-haired Mattel dolls used to wear the early 90s. When I first saw her, I got the distinct feeling that she looked more like a "toy" than pretty much any other SD-sized doll I've ever seen. This girl had such amazing potential.../cry

    20. I know what you mean... that pinky-glitsy look to the resin fantasy parts which have that Hasbro / Matel parts feel that is really off-putting, as much as the cutsey face which makes me think TOY more than BJD too. Disappointed :horror::atremblin:...(
