Leekeworld [Limited Edition] Juwel and Croom Ent discussion

Apr 21, 2011

    1. why is the armor so much more expensive than the fantasy parts?

I'm distraught with disappointment. I don't like the way her boobs hang, and I hate her HERE I AM Genitalia area. On the one hand, she almost seems like a plus size girl, or a voluptuous pin-up model, but on the other hand, I like that when my dolls are dressed, that they appear to be wearing underclothes, and those boobs are definitely in free fall.

I agree with chehime too, should have come in a tan option.

And the price is outrageous. Even if she looked like the pictures and wasn't filled with issues, I wouldn't pay that.

    2. I love the spinel Ent head, with the human body. I admit to being totally confused as to how you would order her though. They have given so many options I have no idea what it all costs or what you would actually be getting :? That would put me off ordering straight away

    3. I was really hoping that the doll would be at least close to the concept art, but as with many of you find it to be a fail.

If they were just selling the doll, as---well a plain doll she might be interesting.

I don't like little kid faces---so this one is out.

    4. lol, yea I know, what is up with that? I agree about the boobs; they look funny. I wish she had like a flat chest option, that'd be interesting (for me anyway)
Lol! The "panty" doesn't even cover the whole crack! Makes her look like she's got an old lady bum. Very unflattering. I agree, I hope Leeke does use the body again for future dolls, but IF they "fix" her mobility (omg those joint gaps!) I agree with the earlier posts as well, she looks like an amazing "stand alone" doll ( I really love the Opal head/face up) but for the concept, she needs an edgier face scuplt; even if Leeke offered Juwel in tan, I don't think it would help, because her face just seems too "soft".

    5. yeah i know, a "kid" face with that body is just too strange...

    6. I think if the doll looked exactly (or so close a doll can come to) the art and where $200 less... Then I would buy instantly without thinking about my future dollies and my 3 incoming dolls x'D
But gladly she doesn't... But it makes me kinda want to make this doll my self just to show how awesome it would look x'D (would that be alright to do that?)

    7. Oof! What was that? I really like her lower body, the bigger butt and thighs make me happy but her boobs look weird and those gaped joints! The fantasy parts(that you have to pay extra for? Why?) don't even look as good as I was hoping.
I guess I should be lucky to not have the money for her right now. I just hope I don't fall for her near the end of the order period and then have to search for someone else ordering her last minute to see if I could split with them and get just the body and fantasy parts and find a better looking head somewhere else.

    8. She's a tricky one. I LOVE her body shape. I have a nearly impossible to 'dollify' character this body could work quite well for. It's also great to see different shapes and sizes on SD size dolls. I also love her ears and the headdress. I'm not sure about the feet and the gap in the back of her tree panty just looks silly. There is an 'action figure' feel about the fantasy parts/armor. Her face is pretty enough, but she would not fit with the rest of my dolls at all. She is very much in keeping with Leeke's esthetic for girl dolls, though. I guess we can't expect a mature, Soom-like head from them.

Her price makes me a bit nervous as to how much Croom will be... and also wondering if he will be the Project Doll that is coming at the end of June. :sweat

    9. she is pretty, but i am a little dissapointed she does not look like the concept art.
i like the opal faceup a lot and the fantasy parts also look lovely. but it is a shame the elbow joint doesn't seem to fit:(

    10. It would be really interesting to see someone do that. People already have dolls based on celebrities and TV/anime characters, and it's not as if you're going to start selling them, so I think it would be fine to do.

    11. I'm in the search for a dollie to torture in the future!!! : D muahahha! lol.
      stuff

    12. Okay, so this doll, as I want her (fullset) is priced way out of my range, but I am once again stunned by the creativity of Leeke.

These are Ents like no other that I've seen in literature, not just trees, but also jemstones (spinel and opal). There's a clear progression, most clear in the armour (?), from the wooden roots at her feet to the gemstone by the time you reach the upper torso. Sometimes, the jemstone is carried through the wigs, less so in the Maroon wig, but clearly in the pale opal wig which (like an opal) is streaked with greens and blues. The bold, kind of saturated colour of spinel is there in the bright blue eye that was chosen for the spinel head. More than even Ents, these girls begin to remind me of wands. That is, they're wood, but they're capped with some kind of precious/semi-precious stone. Like I said, I've never seen an Ent in that light before. I love how creative it is! :D

I also want to take time to note how beautiful the sculpt is. For a Leeke, she's buxom, with a selection of blushing choices that I believe gives people a range of 'characters' this doll could embody. (For me, I'd use her as the spirit-form of a named magic wand or staff -- sort of like infamous swords were named, like Excaliber.) Another thing that really continues to charm me is the lean that Leeke has done toward these full hips. It makes them look a bit like art dolls to my (amateur) eye. I can certainly stand by the quality of the Leeke wigs, which are stunning, but I bet I'm not the only one in here who can say that! Lol!

So, in short, if there was a way to be 'Soomed' by Leeke, I'm feeling it for their most recent creations. I totally adore this girl. I really think she'd made an excellent wand. :...(

    13. I really like her as just a human body, but not so much the fantasy parts. Perhaps down the road they'll use this body again but for a different doll.

    14. Is it just me or do her curves and shape in general tend to look a lot like a slightly less buxom version of Dollmore's Glamor Eve dolls.
Due to the fullset prices I'm kind of glad this girl's not for me. If anything I do kind of like the human Pink face-up, and the subtle shading on Opal's wig has me wanting to test out dip-dying a heat-resistant blonde wig to try for a similar effect. However, no matter how I look it just don't like the translucent resin fantasy parts, nor the way the elbow joints sit...they just really put me off for some reason. Such a pitty, the concept had such potential.

    15. JenKat - I have a Dollmore Glamour Eve... And I don't think they look a like... Yes Juwel got big hips as Eve, but no... I wouldn't say so ^^'

I still think that Juwel look like the adult version of Mikhalia x'D

    16. Well, I really like the shape of her body - I love the curves and wide hips; but, it looks like Leeke needs to work on the joint engineering. From the pictures posted, I can see joint gaps and odd alignment. Her head and fantasy parts don't do anything for me, so I will be skipping this one. I do hope that Leeke works more on that body and releases another doll using it in the future. I'm very disappointed with this release :(

    17. You and me both. I showed it to a friend of mine last night and was all "I could do better than that! :(" It's pretty disappointing.

I guess my main issue stems from the fact she looks nothing like the concept art, which I really liked and thought looked super unique. And I have to say, she's not a 'bad' doll for what she is.. but the price is outlandish for certain detractors I see.
The gap in the shoulder joint, those hip joints look so awkward to me and ruin the lines of the body. I was hoping that the teaser pic was at a bad angle and they weren't what I thought they were... but they are. Her boobs seem to be a nice shape but spatial distance between them looks off. But I understand where they were going *I think* towards the more natural, non-confined (bra) shape. Since she is an Ent ;) but they're just not doing it for me either.

There are elements I like though; the hips, I love the fantasy legs, and her face is so pretty (the lips especially I like). But it allows me to buy Mikhaila :D and I can't wait to see what owners do to this girl she really is pretty unique. :)

    18. her boobs ... they bother me :( plus out of my price range

    19. I actually didn't like the Leeke concept art at all, and I was hoping that the finished doll wouldn't look like the illustrations. However, on the whole, I am not nearly as smitten with this girl as I could be. As others have already mentioned, her face is a bit young.

For a girl in her size range, that's not so odd, but they have given her huge-looking eyes that only seem to magnify the effect (and what eye-size is she anyway? I combed through all the options and couldn't find the information anywhere) The body is quite nicely curvy, but egads, the Gaps. The gaps are conspicuous.

Also, yes, the options are nice, and I think Leeke did all they could to make them fairly easy to navigate-- but they are still not very easy to use. If I see a doll I love, I want to be all: 'shut up and take my money!' ...not 'shut up and take my-- erm, human body + fantasy parts in real body + spinel parts with pink body + opal parts blushing ... I think, please.' :|

    20. Magicbunny, I really enjoyed reading what you posted about her being like a wand. I didn't even think about the names as gemstones until you mentioned it. I think Leeke is being incredibly creative here and that Juwel has suffered because of the drawn artwork that was released before her. I wonder how different her reception would be if we all hadn't seen it before hand?

I actually think she's quite interesting, and do agree with some of her faults as well. But as a doll on her own I think she would be really beautiful to own. I particularly like the opal face up. However I am abit confused with how to order her, if it comes to that. I think there are too many options :). It is nice to see a compnay willing to bend for there customer in the BJD field. Leeke World has been truly generous.

I think I'm actually close to being "Leeked?"
