Leekeworld [Limited Edition] Kiel Ent discussion

Apr 20, 2011

    1. Personally I wouldn't mind. I plan on her keeping her ent feet only... but I could see how that's annoying. I heard some of the people that had the fairies strung BOTH elastic in there so when they wanted which ever feet, they just had to pull the right elastic down.

      EDIT:
By these pictures, I THINK they stand pretty well... unless they're on wires and we just don't know it...

    2. Joiiiiin us! which little darling did you almost order?

    3. I know what's holding me back. I've got a chance to buy a pear shaped MSD girl as a group order through Nobility doll or I can buy a Soda Ent. I'm sorta thinking that I may like the MSD girl more although she's only a drawing at present. I've just paid off my Leekeworld Mikhaila so I'll wait and see what I think when she arrives. I've got until mid May for both of them. It'll also give me a chance to look at the purerose colour which seems to change every time I see it.

    4. It is, like, the most intriguing photographed resin color I've seen in ages...I'm quite jealous you're so paid off, while I'm still lining up distractions for myself. :sweat But I am surprisingly on the fence about the Ents right now...the temptation to wait for someone bigger is at war with super-customizing my own LE. :sweat As noted, I have a few more weeks to dwell on it, and hopefully I'll have paid off the fairies and maybe even a Mikhaila by then, gulp!

      .hlp

    5. My personal feelings on hesitation: she who hesitates pays double the original asking price in the marketplace :X.

This has been your daily dose of enabling.

Now I'm all excited to see this purerose business in person. I'm sad to say, all of my dolls are ordinary fleshtones!

    6. Oh yes, I also hesitate... mainly because I'd love to see pics of the new body (or the Four Fairy body) compared to other Yo-sized bodies. I hope Midnite will post some pics ^^.

    7. Well, I think Mikhaila will be the deciding vote because if I love the purerose resin, I'll want more in that shade. If I'm so-so about it, I'll be able to pass. I like the Ents, but I've always preferred larger dolls to tinies and the two bigger dolls will probably be enough to make me happy. Still thinking about it though.

    8. Want to see Kiel comparison in Purerose, normal and snow with face up. I'm really bad at imagination. This LE's so hard to resist but actually I wish for tan skin choice too, I love Leeke tan.

    9. You can request tan skin just by asking Leeke. As far as I know one DoA member ordered a doll in tan skin.

    10. Hmm I decided to hold off and wait for Juwel. I'm already really intrigued by her. I wonder when they will release the new full sized Ents!

    11. I think the Tiny Ents will be adorable, and probably almost double on the marketplace, but I think I can hold off in anticipation of the larger guy and gal. Although it may be cute to see a Soda ent riding the Centaur.

    12. i'm getting really excited i ordered my ents on the 23th of april and my mikhaila a few days before (the 19th) and now my mikhaila is shipping, whoohoo, maybe my ents will be shipped soon as well, would love o see them before the end of the order period, maybe if i really love them i will order a third, lol

does anyone know if you could have a different head on the ent body, so instead of the heads listed in the ent page, a head from the d line? i know i saw a question about that on teh board, but you acnnot look at other questions.i like the tiny head and would like her as ent as well i think..

i went to a big fabric market this weekend i was looking for some leather for fairy clothing but couldn't find the leather store there, but i found some nice batik tin cotton the sold it in bundles of 10 litle pieces, but i can make a dress from each piece of cotton, so i now have 20 pieces in al sort of colors, which should be a lot fun, but to be honest i never made dolly clothing from cotton before, i always use non fraying stretchy tricot or jersey..
but i'm looking forward to making them a wardrobe of fairy clothing to wear..
i wrote to a leather suplier to see if they have small pieces of leather for me, so i can use that as well.

ok enough with the ranting again...

does anyone know if leeke provides a trackingnumber?

    13. Oh god no, why oh why!? D: I need one of these girls!!! This cute little mature body! Fairy wings! Pretty colours! Aaahhhh~ ;Q;
Bye bye my "no more dolls this year and save some money"-plan. Again. ">_>

I think I'll get an elf eared Sweet in snow skin. A cute lil smiling thing is exactly what I need atm. Now I only need to decide on wigs and colours... so many options. XD
Does anyone know if it's possible to request one of the limited colour wigs in another style than the ents are wearing?

Oh and hi there babyelf! *waves* X3

    14. Leeke provides a tracking number on the order page proper, they aren't email-senders when the order shipped, so you can only check there. :)

    15. I can't help but wonder if deerskin or buckskin or even kidskin might be a better choice than flat-out leather for clothes for these dolls, if one were absolutely set on having real animal pelt clothing for them. They're softer and more flexible, which makes them better for draping over tiny bodies. And you can sew through them with decent enough sinew thread, so you don't have to rely on setting grommets for lacing like you do with real leathers. (Yes, I know real leathers can be sewn, but not without special machines/special hand techniques.)

I've done some leather jewelry for my big dolls, and I can't honestly say I'd try going any smaller in 'leather' per se than a mini, and probably not for clothing with an organic feel.

Or lightweight garment grade pigskin might work, but I don't have much experience with that myself. Just be sure you communicate clearly enough with the leather store you're talking to that what you need are soft, flexible pieces like those for lightweight garments or ladies gloves (nothing like armor grade or heavy duty coat/boot/heavy work glove material) so they can sell you the right thing.

Most leather stores will sell you scraps by the pound, I've done that for doll shoes myself, just be sure you're asking for the right weight of scrap.

    16. *waves* Hi dear! :)
I think you can choose from all the wigs that are available, but the limited wigs are usually sold out after a period, so I suppose they are out of range.

I had the same idea about an elf eared Sweet in snow skin . I really hope to see some body comparison pics before the order period ends. I cannot make up my mind if I like the body or not. Leeke has done some clever photographing to hide some of the body weaknesses (large hands, posing limitations) ^^.

    17. i worked with leather before, but thanks for all the tips, i told the leather supplier for what it was and that i needed some thin leather (i have black thin leather which could be used, but i want colors fore my ents). They told me they didn't have that and that i could order normal garment leather instead, but i rather don't do that trough mail, as i'm not sure how thick it is..
so now i have found an leather supplier only 34 minutes driving from me, so i can go there and check it out myself..
i normally don't use leather for my dolls as well (i mostly use it for corsets ) but i wanted my fae to look like organic forest creatures and i wanted the clothing to look like they made it them self, or something,
i mostly only use leather that can be sewn by machine (i have sewn al of my leather projects by machine, si it is not that difficult if you choose thin enough leather)

the cotton is very pretty as well and i think it would look nice with leather..
not sure what i will make from it yet, i normally make dresses from tricot or jersey and i never made doll clothing from non stretch before, but i think i will make some tiered skirts or just normal short skirts with elasic waist...or some mall bikini like tops (no they are not going to wear a lot, lol)

    18. The fact that these fairies have a new body is great, but as you said, there are still improvements that could be made, for one, like you said the hands. They seem slightly big to me also, and it would be nice if those were also reshaped a bit smaller. I don't know if I will order one either until I can see them in a regular box opening. I think all of them are so adorable, and oh the options! :)

    19. Yep, hands too big and the arms seem too long and too thick compared to the rest. But I decided to ignore it. Or rather: I tried to not want to buy one because of these drawbacks but it didn't work. XD

    20. Yes but they are ents so they don't need to fit conventional ideas on hands size or arm length- if you read the description of ents in The Lord of the Rings books it gives artistic licence for something out of the ordinary, i assumed this was done on purpose by the sculptor.
