Leekeworld [Limited Edition] Kiel Ent discussion

Apr 20, 2011

1. Elsii: SOOOOOOOOO cute! The detail of the blushing is amazing. I almost wish I bought it now. haha

2. So cute! All the pics so far have just had me wanting more. I'm so glad they are shipping, soon we will have even more pics of these cuties. i did see the new Juwel and she is ok, but I personally prefer these girls. Though if anybody is getting Juwel I would love to see her next to an ent.

3. Ooopps I should have mentioned that these aren't the eyes that came with her but a pair of larger glass ones that look pretty much the same as the default :sweat I really like these ones in her but I am so hopeless at getting them looking in the same direction!

4. Awww! She is adorable! Congrats elsii!!

5. Mielikki had her first "proper" photoshoot yesterday, I just wanted to share ~<3

6. S-stunning *__* The golden details, her horn, wow!

7. I love Mielikki! ;w;

I also did a little photoshoot yesterday. The pics aren't as pretty as Bandersnatch's but here you are: click me!

8. Mielikki is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, Bandersnatch. I just can't stress that enough!!

Lanilu, Feena is beautiful - she looks so patient and mature. :aheartbea

9. Wow!!! She's amazing!

10. Hello, everyone!

My Soda with Pink Blushing and Pink parts (and her default blue eyes) just arrived today, after I've completely (!) forgotten about her! I don't know.... she is not what I was expecting (and I'm not used to the too-pale snow white skin either) and I'm currently angry with myself that I even bought her and disappointed with Leekeworld! They didn't even put her eyes in!

I, as a newbie in this hobby, don't know how to change them now, because I'm used to Fairyland's Faceplates where changing eyes is easy! Here, I don't even know where to start! I can sort-of take her headcap off, but not really, since it still "sticks" to the elastic.... ugh... if that makes sense.... :doh Anyway.... I also don't know how to change her feet to her human ones, because I've never done that as well! I'm scared of messing up (and not loving her) and well.... right now I'm really unhappy! My mother was shocked I bought her and she even called her an ugly alien. (Now that I think about it, I also didn't like my Fairyland girls for the first few minutes, and now I adore them... so I still have hope :))

Please, somebody cheer me up and please tell me how to change her eyes and feet, if possible! I'm off to search Leeke's site now, maybe they have an instruction there. Sorry everyone for rambling and thanks for reading all of this! I thought that only people on this forum would understand me ^^

11. I took Solveig out for some photos yesterday. (Click photo to view the gallery post)

Nonaly, I think Leeke just ships their dolls without the eyes in - Solveig's weren't in when I received her, either. Have you checked in the Newbieland subforum for advice on doll eye placement and restringing? When I took Solveig's ent legs off, I had to cut the elastic and completely restring her to get her human legs on, so you might want to look for a step-by-step tutorial. Getting her restrung so that the knot and ends of the elastic are inside her body will also help with the eye placement, since it will give you a little more room in her head to maneuver.

12. eosthilas, yes I read about restringing when I first became interested in BJDs, but I was scared of it and thought I'll never need to restring a doll anyway, and now exactly that happened. It is shocking for someone relatively new to all of this to see that her magnets on her back aren't there, the elastic is visible trough her eyeholes...I honestly thought putting on her human feet would be like changing Pukipuki hands (which have those magnets).

I guess I expected too much from Leeke! Either that or I am spoiled from Fairyland ^^ (My naked, wigless and eyeless Soda to me, doesn't look much like the official pictures.... where are her full lips? I fell for her mainly because of them...) All in all, I hate not only Soda but myself as well, as I already said. Also, for that price I would've liked to have some clothes at least (even if its just a simple dress) and a sleeping faceplate, but no...! This taught me a lesson: To never buy anything other than Fairyland! (I'm sorry, I don't want to advertise, but I hope its okay to say that) I'll stop here before I complain too much! :x

13. eosthilas, that's such a cute photo of her!

nonaly
, I think that the little "spots" beneath her ent legs can be popped up with the edge of a knife, then pulled out. I think there should be a hook down there that you can bend open with a tool :)
I havn't done this myself, but if I understand from Toybox's box opening, it should be doable to only change her legs without restringing her whole body...

As for the eyes! I kept her headcap on (except when I glued her magnets in, I let my boyfriend hold her body and head while I glued in the magnets in the headcap xP Anyway, I just took 1/4 of the putty and rolled it around the eye, then plopped it down while holding her face down. When its position was right, I pressed the putty against the head to secure it ^^ And then did the same with the other eye.

If y'all want, and if nobody else does it before me, I can try to restring her using this method and put up a step-by-step tutorial.

14. did no one get actual Kiel??? I didnt get to get her and im really sad. i was hoping one would pop in the second hand market for a reasonable price.... but i havent seen a single one. ;__; my hopes are dashed.

15. I think I saw two or three on the list in here, so no doubt there were more than that who ordered her but didn't join the waiting room. Don't give up hope yet!

oh, and eosthilas - I think I just died of cute!!!!!

16. Nonaly - when it comes to restringing, there are some great tutorials on youtube that show you in great detail. That's how I started off and now am totally confident because of them. When it comes to fantasy items, it depends on the company. Soom only sends their dolls in human form and currently without hands or feet attached. Yep, just plastic threaded through the holes and they are a real struggle to get on. Takes me approx 10 minutes. Most companies don't send the dolls with eyes in either. A lot because originally eyes were glass and if they came loose, could chip the head or be damaged themselves. I've never seen one company send the doll with the wig on. Even if you buy a fullset, the dolls don't arrive dressed. That's just how it is with BJDs.

17. Yes, regularly expect to have to put eyes in with this hobby, wigs will have to be put on and swapped out, and it's better to just plunge in and do a restringing, I ended up having to unstring part of the very first doll I ever bought because she arrived with a chipped leg and the company was all 'just send the leg back and we'll replace it', I assure you nothing is more disheartening for a new dolly owner than sitting there with a legless doll with a pencil, of all things, keeping the elastic from sliding up into a doll's body while you wait weeks for a new leg to be sent out, LOL! I was sure I was done at that point, but it was actually quite helpful learning 'how things worked with dolls' and shook off some of my fears. ;)

Now, yes, I have ordered a Kiel with blushing, but I have a couple of layaway payments to go, if all goes well I'll do them both mid-month. I also ordered her in tan skin, so warning notice now; I have no idea how the blushing will look on tan, but I thought the green blushing might work well with tan, so we'll see. :sweat

.hlp

18. I don’t know if I can chime in here or not on defense of the leeke dolls but I have helped a bit on an ent (mostly just a second set of hands), and honestly I can say that as far as Tiny’s go, I find they are really quite poseable. As to why they didn’t arrive with eyes in them, that is most likely because, companies like fairy land send their dolls with inexpensive Acrylic’s which are very light and unlikely to fall out and go bouncing around the inside of their heads. The Leeke dolls arrived with beautiful thick glass eyes, which are far more likely to slide back during transit and hit the shook inside. Which could cause scratches or even breakage. When luts used to send dolls with glass eyes, it was not overly uncommon to open your box up and find one eye rolling around in the back. Also the reason for the elastic in the head is that you can easily pull it out from that point and they gave lots of additional elastic room incase you needed to tighten or loosen it. Its much easier to work the elastic out when the knots and all are in the head, than when they are located in the body. (trust me… it took me two people and a sharp knife once to get in to a souldoll body that was strung too tight!)

Now I’m not saying that fairyland doesn’t have some great dolls. (my stack of littlefees a mile long will prove that) But as far as other tiny’s go, I was really impressed with the leeke girls, I wish I had gotten on the bandwagon myself, and was really sad to hear they won’t release this mature body again on a tiny. Ah well… to the secondary market with me I go.

I’ll get off my soap box now. *ahem*

19. Oh, I feel bad now! :sorry I didn't know that the eyes were so dangerous! Thanks everyone for explaining! I feel much better now, and as Hobbysue suggested, I did look at a few youtube videos and this took away most of my fears and I feel much more relieved now!
Sims, thank you for the info on the elastic! I didn't know that either! :doh Which is ironic, I originally thought I was sort-of well informed, because I've read many things on here for about half a year before buying my first BJDs ever. Seems like I don't know much at all now. You live and learn, huh? ^^

Oh, and Hobbysue, before I forget: I know that even Fullset dolls come undressed, what I meant was that I think an option for clothes would have been nice, because newbies like me may not have clothes ready or don't want to spend too much (for the time being at least)
heidipay, please post your tan-skinned cutie once she arrives! I love tan skinned dolls, especially with realy light-colored (or pastel) hair <3

Here is my still un-named girl! I like her a lot better now, and I guess she will stay pink-haired. I thought of names like Jade, Melody or Rosaly.... I'm not sure (nor creative enough) for plant or flower-names... anyone have ideas?

See more here, if you want!

20. Nonaly- No worries! This is the type of stuff you kind of learn as you go along, Its good you read up on it because there really is a wealth of knowledge available, but some of odds and ends you kind of pick up as you go along. I have gotten to work on several dolls including loads of restringing for friends but also from damage repair when things go wrong. Just when you think you have it, something else turns up. Hopefully you will bond with your girl shes super cute! I love the pink!
