well i havent even seen pics of her. I thought at least i could amuse myself with pics.

 

Sims, periwinklestars and elsii - thank you so much, now I feel much better and I like her alot, I really do! I also learned one more thing from all of this: First put on the wig and eyes and then be sad, if needed ^^ I think I exaggerated a bit there

Something I'm sort of 'worried' about is, that all my dolls are so generic with their company faceup. I'll feel inferior when all of your great and original Ents show up with all of their custom fantasy faceups and modded parts! I guess I'm more creative with making up worlds and stories than their appearance XD

Those of you who have an Ent already: are you bothered about those 'holes' in her shoulders and bend knees too? I still have to get used to it.

nonaly- When you first get in to the hobby its not uncommon to have all default dolls, when i first got in to it.... *thinks* 4 maybe 5 years ago, ALL of my dolls were default. I was terrified to modify them in any way, I was even terrified to changed hands on my dolls. But as you go along you start to figure out things, maybe you'll take up face ups. I never in a million years thought I would be modifying dolls when I first started this hobby.

As to the magnets on the back, in most cases you don't shoot a photo of the dolls back or even look at it, unless the wings are attached and in that case the magnets are invisible. One of the good things about installing magnets yourself is you get the chance to decide which way you want them set up. Fairyland always installs theirs the same way, so if you get other fantasy parts from other companies, chances are you'll have to flip the magnets in the wings. On some wings you can't like volks where they are actually embedded in the resin so they can't be popped out and flipped over. My friend was able to set her ent to be the same as the polarity in our littlefees so they can trade magic parts if they want. But if I recall her soom tiny didn't have his magnets installed they had to be put in as well.

I find that the more work I put on a doll the more I bond with it. If I have to get in and actually make clothes, adjust things, sand seams the more close I feel to the doll because its got a little part of me in it. (in the case of some of my dolls that pinched me, they even have some blood. hahah!)

Has any other Ent owner had restringing problems? Every time I try to restring my girl her legs want to spread. I don't know if my little fairy is just a little more... umm.. promiscuous than others or what's going on.

 

Sims, you shouldn't have said that with the additional fantasy parts from other companies.... now I'm getting ideas *hehe* Also, as for the faceups.... I REALLY want some more faceplates for my Littlefees (just talked about it in the LTF thread) so I can just start on it... jump into the deep end, so to speak (is this the right phrase in english? ^^) Maybe my family will understand then, that there is more fun and meaning to this hobby than just spending money and looking at them!

There'll be so many default Sodas in here, I'm looking forward to that, since they'll all still be different form each other!

elsii, I can imagine how you must have felt like! Something similar happened to me too, when my 2-year old cousin threw my LTF across the room. I thought my heart would stop! I'm glad your 'cutie' is alright! (Get it? Oh I'm so lame xD) She must be tougher than she looks like!

One more thing I just tought of (and I'm too lazy to search the old posts, although I still remember most of what was said there): What kind of plans or stories do you have for your little Ents? Please tell me in a sentence or two, I'm curious!

First, I wanted mine to be an Ice/Snow/Waterfairy (probably all three) and I know exactly what she should've looked like (white hair, small white crystals - maybe snowflakes - on her eyelashes, white glittery eyeshadow and so on), but I didn't like the blue default wings at all... Mine would have been more transparent and glitter-y than actual blue color... now she turned into something else... *sigh* I still didn't scrap that idea! (Maybe some other BJD will be my Icefairy!)

Oh my god, sorry for typing so much! At least its more than the usual 'Oooh he/she is soo cute!' that I see everywhere ^___^

 

nonaly, I'm glad your Ent is growing on you. She really is gorgeous.

I know when my first doll arrived, she was all kinds of problems - she didn't come with her head on and the knot in the elastic, at her neck, was so big that it couldn't go through the head slot! In trying to get her head on, I lost the elastic and had to restring the body right off the bat. *-* She didn't come with any wigs, eyes, or clothes at all, so it's been a long process getting her presentable. It was a bit overwhelming, but it certainly has been a learning experience. In the long run, I'm hoping I will be even more fond of her because of all the input that was required of me.

My Ents are both coming with company face-ups, but not exactly the defaults. My Soda will have the Pumpkin Ent default colours, and my Sweet will come with the non-Ent Sweet default. I envy all the creative, artistic people who do their own face-ups, but I'm sure I'm going to love my girls just as they are.

I'm not entirely sure about my girls' stories yet - I keep going back and forth as well. XD I was thinking of having one represent night and one day, but I think I'm going to go back to having them both be dryads. I just need to make up my mind on which tree each will represent. :3

elsii - Eeeek, that would be terrifying. @_@ I'm glad she's OK! Her little marks just give her character, right? X3

 

My girl returned today with her face-up from the awesome redmaiko, and her urethane eyes arrived, too!

Well, my original plans were thwarted by the downsizing of my Ent order. I actually have all the Leeke fairy girls from earlier in the year, the Soom faeries (all except Rose are here or ordered) and I have Topaz, so I was sort of planning this tableau of faeries meeting, and I was going to have the Ent girls be there as my plant fairies (I had missed out on the Dollzone flower, sob!), but of course no go...I'm still working on my plans for it, as I really would like to do this at a local botannical gardens, but need to go location scouting!!!

Beyond that, I just adore fairy type creatures so they all sort of have their own personalities, like the Leeke girls are all fairy-kissed girls, while the Soom faeries are ageless creatures...I'm complicated, eeep! I suspect the Ents would've been like infant Dryads, small and full of wisdom they would dispense in piping voices if they felt that you respected the nobility of nature, or somesuch, slightly oracular, but you must earn your way to their wisdom.

Gotta say I really love all these Ents, she's actually the first doll that I really fell for

nonaly, my ent's a Birch-tree-spirit who got away from her kin, and will be found in a garden between worlds by my Gatekeeper, Chaemill. She's decided to stay there, and her stubbornness is going to make it hard for my poor MSD, who sort of adopts her ^^

PeppermintPocky, your girl is amazing! Creativity like that is what I meant earlier! She is great, looking all fiery! The idea to actually hang fruits onto her horns is superb! Believe me, I would have never thought of that!

heidipay, do you have a group picture of all (or some) of your fairy-girls? Your family sounds absolutely awesome! My Soda is ageless too, even if her body wasn't 'mature' she still wouldn't be a child. (I'm tired of seeing children or toddler-Yo-SDs, they're rarely teenagers!)

Zarkadi, your story sounds great too! The word 'Gatekeeper' made me curious! And it made me think of all sorts of characters, how that gatekeeper may look and talk like, so thanks for that! xD I'm slowly (reaaally slowly) getting into stop motion animation (basically the reason I even considered buying BJDs instead of just admiring them... that's what got me interested, when I thought 'Hey, I can act my stories out with these dolls!' ) so uuhmm... I'm currently trying to incorporate Soda into the world I made up. Nature-creatures and Dyrads/Nymphs whatever don't fit in there a 100% yet, but I'm working on it. (Not like anybody cares ^^)

Haha, I care x) I love to hear about other people's stories, they inspire my own ^^ It was basically my lazy way out of "How can I create a world where I can have both human and fantasy-dolls? Oooh, I'll make the story center around the gate that connects them!" xP
