Lies you tell yourself about BJD

"I can make that myself" (about almost everything but the doll itself ><)

 

"Even though I'm on a fixed income, I can totally afford [x, y, z] if I just save up for it!" ┬┬﹏┬┬

 

"I wont buy one" ==> "I'll only buy after working overtime to make up the money spent" ==> "I will only buy if under xyz$" ==> "I'll only buy if it's a great deal" ==> "I'll wait to buy accessories/clothes" ==> "It's ok to indulge once in a while on these types of things..."

 

"Oh I definitely won't get a 1/3. Those are way too big," I said and then I went and bought one.

"1/3 is perfect. Definitely won't go bigger," I say and now I'm staring at a head for a 75cm doll and seriously considering making another purchase.

I just hope I don't go bigger and bigger

"I am not going to get a doll this month."

"Okay, maybe just one doll this month. But not next month."

"I am seriously not going to buy a doll next month."

 

“This is my LAST doll this year (2025)!” < me, right before a certain doll I wanted popped up and I bought him instantly…

 

"I don't want anymore dolls" is always the lie I tell myself. lol! To be fair, when I really think about it, I don't want anymore. It's the impulse to buy something just announced that gets me. I have gotten better at fighting impulses though.

 

"Tomorrow I'm gonna start some face-ups!" My poor, blank dolls...

 

I know it looks awesome, but it's TOO BIG, you won't like owning it.

Well, my 1/6 dragon griffin from dream valley is not too big. Maybe the 1/4 version would have been.

 

"I'll just get one doll and see how I like it."

Followed by:

"I will not buy any more floating heads."

 

" I'll never get anything bigger than a blind box doll"
For the longest time I really admired BJD but didn't want to put the money, so I only collected small blind box dolls which I love because they are so small, but now i went from only having 1/6 dolls to now just ordering a 1/4 doll.

 

"I can make that!" or "I can do that!". I've messed up very beautiful wigs and clothes trying to style and cut and sew them, to the point it comes out much cheaper for me to commission things from artists I admire.

I never do.. I’m way too fussy and then my family turn round and go ‘why are you buying that? You can make it!’ And then I say yes mom and start sewing T_T

one day… one day I’ll buy the darn outfit and not have to do everything haha!

 

I feel like my current lie was "5 msds are more than enough" when my heart keeps reaching for new releases xD
But I am currently limited by space so I definitely wont be buying any new ones for a bit... I can't speak for my smaller scaled collection, woops

My 2025 lie was "I am buying no more dolls" and I've already bought 3... oops.

My current lie is "Oh, I can do without that outfit" some outfits on eBay for SD13 are looking mighty tempting at the moment...

Worked great for eighteen years. Then, smash cut to last month...and now I have a 60cm Resinsoul Apollo. Oops!

 

I'm not going to get 1/3 dolls.

smash cut to 3 70 boys and 1 75 cm boy and me thinking about getting another 75 boy for dressup purposes as the current 75 boy is not a dressup boy. whoops.

 

I'm going to get just one two four five seven, I swear.
