“I want a minimum of one and a maximum of four.” Reality: I’ve had only one for…Since I started. I’ve been super picky about sculpts because I want to be sure I will still love the mold ten years beyond the purchase and unboxing dates. I’m open to planning and brainstorming for a second, meantime enjoying bonding with the one. “I will only buy or consider buying MSD.” Ha. Ha ha. Ha. Nope. There has been at least one SD that has pulled on my heartstrings. “I won’t keep changing my mind. When I see my next doll, I will be tunnel visioned.” I wish this was true. I’ve been more wallet-conscious as I’ve gotten older. Not a bad thing. I used to feel guilty for it. “The ones I’m considering now are the ones I will still want. I just need to save up for them.” My mind keeps changing. Saving up part isn’t bad or has changed. But my tastes have changed. “I’m not good at doing face ups. I’ll just commission someone.” Biggest lie. I’ve actually improved. Go figure. I’m about to redo her face up and do her body blushing. On. My. Own. “I will sew every outfit.” Turned into buying an outfit whenever I see one that would fit. I have yet to sew an outfit…I must remedy that.
I will never own more than one of each sculpt, especially if it's big. Also no floating heads, ever. -------- Now I have two Gem of Doll Orion foxes (1/4 size) and I am weirdly reluctant to let one go? One to appreciate and one to customize. Oh and I managed to get myself two dearmine lupys too but they're tiny axolotls. And I bought a gem of doll orion fox head to try a face up on, the other two have factory face ups and I want to enjoy them a while longer... but also want to play more with the sculpt. That said I'm not planning on getting a body, maybe a bust stand instead.
I'm saving up money for this one doll that I feel is most beautiful doll and 100% NO other doll would ever be so beautiful to prevent me from buying it.
1/3 is too big (I have a Luts SDF head on order and I want to buy a DF body for it) One doll is enough for me (uh... let's just say that didn't happen) I'll make my own wigs (I can barely even style my own hair) I want anime dolls like DD/Smart Doll (turns out I like dolls with fully sculpted lips and noses more)
"Surely it will be less expensive if I do it my dang self." I promise you, between cost of materials and time to learn the skills necessary, it most certainly is not. Still worth it for the satisfaction of crafting my own stuff, though!
