Lies you tell yourself about BJD

I'm not gonna get into anthro dolls at all! *Wants every ram/goat bjd I see*

 

I said that one too, and now I have a scorpion centaur and want so many more.

 

imma clean off that workbench so i can do a proper faceup, make some eyes (more boxes are on it, prolly dolls even)
imma finish my spreadsheet for current crew. (snort)
let's buy some bodies this time (a little less than half my crew is body-less. i regret that part of the spreadsheet is done)
imma buy this wig so i can see how it's put together (hasn't made a wig yet)
no more (not gonna say how far past i be now)
imma name everybody (not yet you haven't tsk tsk)
let's sew some clothes today (pffffffffffft.... yeah right maybe next week)
let's share some bodies! (plans unique tattoos & has every different resin & size neck under the sun)
we don't want to get into fashion size (hello Venus you're gorgeous, and now i think you need a friend)

that's the tip of the iceberg, and i see myself in most of the posts in here

I'll be able to afford that next ___(Insert anything from accessories to dolls themselves; currently it's getting my DollZone Demon Egg painted)____ soon, maybe after another month or two....

EDIT: Also, I'll have time to plan a photoshoot and get those shots taken soon, I just need to do dishes because we're out of cups, and then I need to do laundry and fold because I only have enough clean underwear for tomorrow....

Honestly my lie was that I'd never buy a BJD

I thought, "They're lovely but I won't do anything with them."
"If I had just one, it would be that one, but I'll never buy her."
"Okay that would be the sole one I buy, but it has to be a legit and it's sold put,, who knows when it'll rerelease."

That third one was my Pukipuki Pongpong, who re-released. And opened the floodgates and now I have several lol

 

Ooh I actually have an answer!

I've been looking for my first doll for years. Now that I have finally purchased one...

"I won't ever get a creepy/morbid looking doll. I want them to look human."

...oops /shrug

 

I don't have my doll yet but when I was debating whether or not to get one I told myself,
"I'm going to use this doll for drawing references!" knowing full well I will not lmfao
I also lied to myself saying, "No anime dolls"
now I want an anime looking doll :U

 

"It will totally be cheaper if I do it myself!"

"Making clothes/wigs can't be too hard."

"I would never spend 10 dollars on a paintbrush with 2 bristles."

"I probably won't get/like any boy dolls."

Yep...this just happened to me!

 

I swore off sd because it was TOO BIG and TOO EXPENSIVE. Then i realized my all time grail was sd. Now im wondering how much longer i’ll be able to have all this free space LOL

 

"No more dolls smaller than mature tinies." and "Soom's Petit Gem anthros are two bobble headed." Soom Petit Gem Free Choice event happened, I sketched two possible face/ears/tail combos- and ordered both.

"All my MSDs will be the same fashion head scale/aesthetic." A Dream Valley lady came home before the previously ordered Racoon Doll arrived. I love them both.

 

"No more YoSD" - I didn't think I liked the size... but... I fell in love when I got my YoSD Nono she's the only one I have right now but I want more in the future.

"I'll never buy a DD/vinyl doll" - again it was kind of me thinking I didn't like them, and didn't like how they posed (primarily DD, Obitsu actually have pretty amazing posing)... recently bitten by the DD bug and I now have one, and one on order (the Touhou Project collab MDD Marisa!) I also owned an Angel Philia for a bit but sold her because I had trouble finding clothes that fit and I wasn't doing enough with her, but honestly I kind of regret it and would love to get another someday. They're really... unique... (LOL, but actually. I really like them even if they're, you know,.... well, if you know you know.)

"I won't commission faceups/will do all my own faceups" - NAH... I do enjoy doing faceups, although I haven't in a long time due to multiple moves and going to college and several of my dolls have my own faceups. But most of them either have company or artist faceups at this point. Since I'm not really able to do faceups right now, I tend to buy dolls who are already painted (if I decide to customize them in the future I can always wipe them anyway). A couple of my dolls have artist faceups that I really like that were done before I got them, so I don't plan to change those. I've still only commissioned a faceup once, due to some weird circumstances, but I love that one as well and am glad I did it. There are also some artists I would like to commission in the future because I love their work!

And I guess in general telling myself I would DIY everything.... I hated wig making and couldn't even seem to make a decent wig cap let alone even get started on adding wefts. I don't sew very often either. The biggest DIY part of the hobby I got into was faceups which as I said I still enjoy but can't do much of at the moment sadly!

 

“No more clothes buying this month” - browses second hand shops and of course find something cheap that I *have* to click on

“I can totally cut this wig. What’s the worst that could happen?” - a lot, a lot can happen. We have reached passable (I think) but this was painful.

 

"I won't have more than these 3...I mean 4...well 5...how about 7?" I am now getting close to 30. So much for trying to put a number on it.

"If you buy this new doll, that means you have to sell one you own" somehow collection keeps growing in numbers

 

" I'm going to have 15 dolls! And some of them will be boys!"
I'm planning on selling all of my boys. My dream collection as of right now is 3-5 dolls.

 

they really do take up so much space. I got rid of most of my msd and got sd. theyre so huge haha

 

I'll FOCUS and finish a doll-sized capsule wardrobe before I have to go back to work!
