Last year, I keep telling myself I will be done when I had 4 dolls. Now I am planning on buying 3 more.
'I only need 6 for the photo story.' 'I only need 6 for Rigor Mortis and 6 for ATA' 'I can make the clothes myself!' - They all wear potato sacks now. And no pants because they fall off. 'I can face up - I don't have to fork out for a professional!' - Does the most awful face up I have ever actually seen. Thankfully my other half has the knack. I just have to bribe him with...oh no, I spent all my money on bjds XD 'I won't ever buy a fur wig' - Is considering buying a fur wig because Lyulf is supposed to be a werewolf dude. 'I won't freak out about customisations - I will be brave and handle all my dolls and change them even if there are mistakes.' - Puts Faith on shelf and doesn't handle her for days at a time because I'm scared of marking her. Yeah, I'm a compulsive liar when it comes to myself >.<
That I will finish the dolls I have before buying more. K’jinn has no face up or wig, the poor guy doesn’t even have pants! Xeno was a better attempt, got the wig/eyes/props, even glasses! Couldn’t find the right outfit so he just has sweats, because it’s all or nothing right? Factory face up or I wouldn’t have bothered yet. Sheppard is just a head! I didn’t want to tackle a new project yet. Poor YoSD babies have wigs/eyes/clothes/factory face up but nothing new in years! I got too picky and gave up *again* Incoming *finished* grail doll has full elaborate fancy outfit waiting for her and more clothes on the way. I suck at this.
- Keep it at 4-5 doll minimum (stares at 17 dolls) - No SD sizes (now I have two) - Ok "no Doll buying hiatus for two months" (buys another one a week later) Please send help ;-;
"I'm going to focus on my current dolls rather than buy more." Uhhh... I'll do my best!! It's hard when sweet girls I have been eyeing for years come up though. Maybe Mother SD is trying to force me to follow this one. I'll believe she has good intentions when I lose a lottery! "I'm never going to order a doll that takes longer than the paypal protection period to arrive" I'm trying very hard to keep this one from now on. Although I trust Volks not to screw me over, it's bad business practice to hold on to money for so long. And not every company is as trustworthy as Volks either... I once said "I love leaving vinyl dolls out where I can see them all the time! No more resins!" That one's done and over. Vinyl dolls are wonderful but like completely unhuggable. Both materials have their pros and cons and I love both of them. 10+ years ago I said I'd never buy a Volks doll because they're so expensive but look so plain, but now they're all I can see. It did help that they improved their default faceups quite a lot since then.
I promised myself that i'd love the small dolls. They'd be easier to bring with me and all that... I sold my smallest doll and only getting a 4th yosd to finish out my seasons since i seem entirely unable to sell my Soom Ai faun anyway. I might also have bought myself the largest doll i haver personally seen for sale, even thought i kinda told myself that anything above 60ish cm was just too expensive. Yet i have a Trinity doll comming home >-<
"I'll only have human-like dolls. Fantasy-themed dolls are not for me." And 10 years later I have 3 anthro dolls and my 3 'humans' are turning into a vampire, a sorcerer and a spirit. It took time though to realize I was lying to myself.
"The next one I'll put on preorder/layaway will be that Impl Plaice I plan to shell as Qaiden." A few bodies, one full doll, a couple heads and a Dream Valley creature doll layaway later—I still haven't started that layaway. "This month I'll order [insert clothing item for specific OC here], along with a few other things." I ended up focusing on getting aquarium supplies, fish and aquarium plants instead. I will be trying to rectify that hopefully soon though.
"1/3 dolls are probably too big for me..." I have since ordered a fullset. "I don't want a girl doll." Since purchasing one for my mother, I may have come around to it. Watch this space ^_^.
“I only want human dolls with natural skintones.” *gets bright blue elf-eared doll with a third eye, who is canonically meant to be an alien* Lmao. I absolutely love her, though. She’s one of my favorites.
"I'm going to make my own doll clothes from now on...!" "I'm going to finish this doll project before starting a new one...!" Yeah... I try so hard... TwT
I saw the title and thought “Lies? I don’t think I lie to myself about dolls?” before remembering that just a few days ago I posted in another thread that since returning from hiatus I planned to whittle my remaining collection of about 15 to around 4-6 dolls, my original idea of “a lot.” I then got all my BJD stuff out and counted 20 full dolls plus a few floating heads and determined I could only part with two of the heads and a handful of eyes…. and I put a down payment on a new head and am planning to get a body for one head I already have with plans for ANOTHER whole doll before the end of the year…
-- I won't start a new doll project without finishing the previous one. -- No more eyes I don't really need. -- No more wigs. -- No more pretty fabrics. I'm more addicted to planning and crafting than collecting, but I feel like I'm unable to finish anything at all.
"I only need one doll" "No stickers on doll" "1/3 are too huge" "Doll can't come out of his box during daytime" Lies, all lies lmaoo
"Okay, my crew is basically done! Which is a Good Thing, because I'm out of cabinet space and have NO ROOM in this little townhouse of mine for another cabinet. Nope. No space at all." *Has spent the last week rearranging a couple of rooms, building two massive new bookcases for the back wall of the living room, moving a thousand or so books and disassembling the smaller bookcases those books used to be on. Book cases that were upstairs in the sewing room where the dolls hang out.* *Looks around at the now open space in the "chick cave" and grins, realizing that with those books relocated I have room for not one more cabinet... but TWO.* ""Oh, lord. What have I done?!"
